The Eken H9R uses Sunplus 6350 chipset, which is not able to process 4k footage and OV4689 image sensor, which is not capable of capturing footage over 2.5k. This is a 1080p action camera. If you want true 4k for cheap it's probably gonna be one of these 3: 1.Firefly 8s 125 USD 2.ThiEYE T5 115 USD 3.Andoer C5 112 USD
Thanks a lot for the review! I was searching for some honest review! I also saw your chain wax video and really thanks! That chain wax changed my experience woth performence and my wallet! Thanks!

Instant subscription for me. Best review video I've seen so far 👍👍👍 will definitely get one to record my baseball games
Thanks for telling me how to brighten the videos up since well me and a few friends plan on going to this abandoned hospital nearby at night so this will be handy
Seems like a great commuting camera to mount on a helmet for commuting. But I think for long runs or showing off to RU-vid, the Yi 4k looks and has better looking footage, has electronic stabilization, and lots of company support with firmware updates. If 4k 30fps isn't needed, the Yi Lite's only $90. (USD) On a side note, a higher speed name brand (like Transcend, Sandisk, not Lexar any more) microsd card is recommended to run high resolutions consistently. But it's pretty clear that while Gopro has been resting, Chinese action cameras are really the way to go for value with minimal, if any sacrifice.
Great Review sir, EKEN is a superb camera with much lighter lens than gopro and with thinking for the price difference Go pro seems unexpectable with this darker lens. Also Eken i think didn't has image stabilisation as maybe gopro has?And the msd cards supported isn't the same i think.Eken has false default setting (cause isn't changeable) in White Balance and it's clearly shown at clouds!
The underseat footage looked quite stable from the Eken - was the forward footage taken from the homebrewed dual mount or from a bar mount? Excellent stuff again!
Thanks! Lack of ANT+ is a bit of a showstopper for me for many (most/all) of these budget cameras. I like to record at least my HR to reassure my family that I'm not "overdoing it" and since I'm recording I grab cadence and speed too. I suspect I'll grab another Virb Elite from Fleabay while there are still some "new old stock" available. Thanks again for your videos - they're that rare beast being entertaining and informative. Ian
Yep but stabilization is something that you can easily fix with a gimbal in the other hand make a blurred record becomes sharper is really trick to do and boring
No. I tried different ways of holding the Eken including individually in my hand. It was worse than the Gopro on all occasions when there is movement. Eken have a new camera now, just a little more expensive and it has image stabilization.
Is image stabilization the only difference between the H8 and the H9. If they are the same would it have been better to do a review of the H8 instead ?
