Background for those who aren't aware: The singer Zoltan is of half Roma heritage (aka Gypsy), being a Roma in East Europe meant he faced lots of open discrimination and outright hatred growing up, and he couldn't even get a record deal the first decade Ektomorf was active precisely because of this discrimination; on a side note for the same reasons he probably has more street cred than NWA and Tupac combined The face he's making is not acting, that's REAL authentic and raw anger at the world he knows
Asuma Sarutobi - too bad he wasn't doing a good service to Roma reputation, as in the works following this one, the band was clearly, blatantly copying Sepultura/Soulfly's work. I was never following the band much after that but it makes me wonder how the aforementioned bands, and especially their record labels, reacted to it. Well.. in the songs like Outcast, the band could really use some instruments native to their location/cultural background instead of Brazilian ones. They must have been aware that the use of native instruments in Sepultura's song were linked to what their music represented at the time, what was in the lyrics, and what kind of message the musical style of Sepultura/Soulfly presented. Sadly, it was only showing that Zoltan's band decided to copy the successful formula without thinking twice about the effect.

pro mě jsou dobrý a je úplně jedno jaké jsou národnosti mají v sobě krev metalistů jako my a jestli hrají na způsob soulfly tak je to paráda ne. v Čechách neznám žádnou takovou metalovou skupinu která by to zahrála lépe než oni a podobný hlas Maxe Cavalera je taky skvělé a komu se to nelíbí tak ad to neposlouchá a nekritizuje protože sám by to nezahrál a určitě ani nenazpíval těchto hlasu není moc, jen tak dál kluci Ektomorf
First Soulfly album came out in 1998. and the first Ektomorf album in 1996. The Roots album is from Sepultura, therefore not form Soulfly but it has come out in 1996. Before 1996 the Ektomorf had a different name, they called themselves "The death royal" as I know. Than Ektomorf is older then Soulfly.
The thing is Ektomorf is older than Soulfly...:D I like Ektomorf because they came from a small town of a small country and now many people around the world would like to go to their shows, and nobody helped them, they've reached this by themself. Usually their shows are real concrete grinding... Trust me.;)
The tone on this album sounds a lot like Mnemic’s 2003 album! Tue Madsen produced both so that could be why. Also, Mircea from Mnemic made the cover art for this Ektomorf album. He did cover art for a lot of other band’s albums too.

Világszínvonal! Zotyáék ezt nagyon összepakolták, évek óta nem képviselem már stílusban, kinézetben sem a metalt, mint fiatalon, de ez a nóta felejthetetlen, itt van mindig a fejemben! THX Ektomorf! ....és köszönet, hogy nem felejtitek a gyökereiteket!
Uma história rápida Mano,nos vcds da época de adolescente,ao final de algum clipe,tinha um trecho do refrão dessa música. No Spotify hoje,a música rolando,quando eu ouvi o refrão,caralho eu fiquei embasbacado,foram mais de 10 anos tentando saber quem cantava.
Esse trecho no final de algum clipe, eu lembro que vi no final de algum clipe do NIGHTWISH, e eu fiquei desesperado para descobrir que banda era essa, tentando entender a letra (na época, meu inglês era uma bosta), acabei descobrindo. Música animal, verdadeiros discipulos do Sepultura clássico!
@nienamore: Y Ektomorf was created in 1994, but Soulfly(created in 1997) was created by the singer of Sepultura(and Sepultura is much older than Ektomorf), thats why many people think they copied the type of Sepultura/soulfly.
LOL!!! Good times with my old friend Kurtis watching this video on Monsters of Metal... :D so many misheard lyrics. We always laughed at: "I know Jim" and, "THEY TRY TO TAKE AWAY MY EVIL SHIRTS!" Was particularly funny at the time since we were in high school and always being sent home to change since we would wear Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir t-shirts to school every day.. the whole "take away our evil shirts" thing always made us laugh like mad..

I think the earlier stuff was more similar to a combination of Sepultura and Machine Head.Now they sound a little more like Slipknot.I love it all they are amazing in there own right 🤘💀🤘

Everyone saying these dudes sound like soulfly, sepultura max cavalera, SO WHAT!!! Surely thats a good thing as Max is a god. Having another band like this is what we need at the moment!!
just to make things clear! they existed before SOULFLY, that means that they don't sound like them, but they sound like Ektomorf. but the are both good bands so..., ektomorf are just a bit more my type. :P
