I study Animation in Buenos Aires, one of our Professors casually mentioned that he worked as an animator and Background artist for this movie. You can imagine the class basically ended at that point since he got showered with laughs and questions. The absolute mad lad ended up drawing the thicc panther on the projector for the memes and for learning body structure, He did it in like 30 seconds.
Except for super hardcore delusional christian furries. Then again, literally no other furry I've seen has mentioned this movie in anything, so my estimate may be a bit off.
Wanna know why so many characters in this look like they were yanked from other things? This was produced in part by Camillo Teti, the man behind the animated Titanic movie with Mexican mice and a rapping dog. And just like that movie, Teti brought in a bunch of art college students to do the character designs and literally encouraged them to rip off as many famous American cartoons as possible. No, seriously.
Honestly, as terrible and furry as it is, I still can't hate it. My dad rented it for me when I was around 10 and he watched with me, making jokes here and there. No matter how weird this movie is, I feel a little nostalgia whenever I see something of it. Also, I don't remember the original voice acting being that bad, like, the humans sound so dumb in English.

The reason it's so risqué is that it was made in Argentina, where stuff like this is a lot less frowned upon. It's kinda the same thing in different countries.

I went to a Christian school and I remember that they showed us this movie when I was about 6 or 7 years old, I am grateful for having forgotten everything related to furries!

When I was younger, I really didn't like this movie because of how kid-unfriendly I thought it was. Looking back at this movie now makes me realize how naive I was back then and how old I feel now.

@@RB01.10 Depends on the grade. If it was 1st-4th grade, most are confused and that one kid understands everything and laughs. If it's 5th-college, most understand everything and laugh/cringe, and that one kid has no idea what's going on.

LOL Having seen that film (I was much older when I saw it, and it is competently overall made despite some flaws) it does NOT need to be viewed by kids. The violence is very horrific and disturbing. Though Gibson did release a “recut” version in 2005 that did cut out some of the violent shots (as well as replaced some of the brutal angles with alternate camera angles that were less graphic) which also shortened the film by around 5-6 minutes.
Tbh, I think the part where the fantasy creatures died by the flood, I think it was kinda smart... implying that fantasy characters could've been real, and they died by the flood
I was one of the poor kids that accidentally had this movie as a kid (pretty sure my grandparents got it for me and my old DVD player) and I watched it multiple times because I was so pure, I didn't even know what a strip club was. I just thought "oh, the lions like eachother, that's cool and normal, I hate that panty lady cause she's evil". at least i now know that entire movie wasn't some fucked up fever dream I had before burrowing into my childhood furry phase -a former hardcore furry who still is okay with furry art but dosen't draw it and has furry friends because why tf not
Funny story: I chose to go with my mother to see this movie at its premiere (I was 6 years old). I chose it over Rattatoelli (which premiered at the same time). I was able to see the full movie but mom hated it and she really regretted taking me to the movies (now I understand why). We rented Rattatoelli later and it became one of our favorite movies.
