Te adoro!!!! Yo también he escrito aquí porque este vídeo es pura inspiración. Deporte, salud, amor, libertad, belleza absoluta. Enhorabuena!!! Ahora nos toca a nosotros vivirlo este verano.
Beautiful, I've researched many travel videos, and this is the most moving, the best I've EVER viewed. Many thanks for this experience. I'm going there in spring 24.
Greetings from Toronto Leon; thank you for sharing your fantastic trip; I am planning to follow in your footsteps from Porto to Santiago in June; noticed you used Garmin for navigation; could you share your navigation course; thank you
Greetings from Miami, do you have a Strava account? mine is Leon Echavarria and if you search for my activities under the Portuguese Way, you'll see them all there and you can download them, the trip was done in April 2019. Enjoy it, it is an amazing route, you can also find some good info and tips in www.eurovelo.com site, the end of route #1 is on that area. if you are not able to get it thru Strava, let me know and we'll find a different way. take care. cheers!
Thank you Russ for your kind words. You are right, we live a very happy healthy life and we are very thankful for it and try not to take a single day for granted. This summer we start our long road trip in our van, Miami-Alaska-Argentina. stay tuned. Cheers!!
Excellent video. I am going to cycle from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela in April/May 2024. Can you please let me know how the wind conditions (speed and direction) along Portugal coast were? Did you get lots of wind from North to South? I was wondering if I should cycle the other way around, from North to South.
Great video! 🇵🇹 Beautiful and very inspiring (The music was a good choise too!) Must be an excellent memory of a great holiday for you both. I am going the opposite way in the beginning of June, starting in Porto and ending in Faro. It was nice to se a bit of how the roads and trailes look like. Thank you for sharing!
Por fin un vídeo con clase, no hace falta ir hecho un piojoso para ir en bicicleta que la mayoría que he visto iban un poco desaliñados jjjjj pensaba que era yo el rarito, buen video, saludos
Hello Manon, I am glad you liked it. we never felt unsafe at any point on this trip, you just have to use your common sense like on any place in the world and you'll be fine. Go for it, it is beautiful. Cheers!
In the meanwhile I watched your wonderful video more then 10 times. Me and wife are really impressed! From you guys and your wonderful journey. Is there a chance to get your gps file of the tour? Thanks!
Hello there, thanks for the kind words, sorry I didn’t replied earlier but right now we are in a road-trip around Alaska and Wi-Fi is kind of hard to come by where we were. If you go to my Strava account you can see all the stages and you can download them.
My account is under Leon Echavarria and the first stage Lisbon to Cascáis was on April 6 2019. If you have any problem finding them let me know. It is beautiful, enjoy it. Cheers!
Great video! Me and some friends are looking at doing the exact same route. I wondered if you might share your itinerary? Would be keen to know which towns you stopped at for the night as we’re looking to do it in about the same timeframe (10-14 days). Thanks!

Whow, It is one of the most beautiful videos of the Camino de Santiago that I have seen.If you have the complete video I would like to see it. And if you could give me the tracks, thank you. Ultreia et Useia. Buen Camino.
Just booked flights to Lisbon !! Please could you tell us what handlebar bag frame you are using? We can't find one that keeps the bag off the handlebars, and your's seems to do that. Many thanks for the video.
Geoff, Sorry for the late reply, for the handlebar we use the Salsa bag set up, here is the link salsacycles.com/components/category/bags_frame_packs/exp_series_anything_cradle_35mm It works great. Have fun. Cheers!!
A fascinating experience and a well-done video! Thanks. Any places to rent the bikes? I will be flying from USA or Mexico to Lisbon. Or is bringing my own bike better?.
Leon, you departed from Miami, correct? Once in Santiago, how did you get your bike back to the States? Did the local post office have bike shipping boxes? Did you get in back with you on your flight back or did you ship it separately? Thanks @@leonechavarria
Hello Rita, yes, we departed from Miami, when we do these bikepacking trips, we usually arrive in one city and returned from another, we pack our own bikes on simple bike carton boxes and we dispose them when we arrived and when we are flying back we just go to a local bike shop and buy them , usually they just give them away. we had never use any type of shipping service, we always fly with them. on this particular trip, we rented a car in Santiago and drove to Madrid and we did a couple of rides along the way, we pack them in Madrid and flew back with them. Hope this help. Cheers! Leon @@rirufiesta
Hello Pablo, the brand is Open model UP and they are great, they are not custom, we use 38 tires and they work fine for that route, 60 to 70% of the time you are riding asphalt, the rest is well maintained good condition off road, you could do it in 32s if you want. Cheers!
This is wonderful!!!! We are planning on doing the hike the French way but after seeing this, I am having second thoughts and thinking of doing Portuguese way instead. We are cyclist ourselves and this seems like the perfect thing to do for us. How long did it take you?
Hello Ruby, we rode 11 days total, from Lisbon to Santiago with a one day break in Porto, I highly recommended it, the food, the views, the people, go for it, it is a very friendly route. Cheers!
Hola!!!
Love your video! I'm planning a cycling trip to Santiago from Porto as well in October of 2020 if it is at all possible. Do you have a resource for me to get the map from Caminha to Santiago? Anything else would be helpful like albeurges and places to eat. Things to do. Thank you so much.
Hello there, from Porto to Caminha we followed the Eurovelo 1 en.eurovelo.com/ev1/portugal , from Caminha to Santiago we actually just follow the yellow arrow and the people doing El Camino, Sorry I can't help you with places to stay or eat, we usually don't make plans in advance, we just ride and somehow places to stay and eat will appear at the right time, I know some people don't like the uncertainty of it but to me, that freedom is priceless. thank you for watching the video and I wish I could be more helpful. Leon
@@leonechavarria thank you so.mich for your reply. I don't know yet what I will do as of yet. I think I'll plan it all out next month if I'm sure to leave in October.i appreciate all your responses.
Hey guys great video, amazing track with nice scenic gravel as well as normal tarmac, and the music makes it even better. just wondering what app did you use for route planning? or it wast just manually planned?
Hello Ankush, from Lisbon to Porto, we followed the Eurovelo route which was very clear and simple, and from Porto to Santiago, we did El Camino de Santiago pathway most of the time, in general is a pretty easy route to do, We had the ocean on our left as we were riding north most of the time. Beautiful country. Cheers!
Great video! I’m planning to do the tour in January/February. Would you recommend it during that time? Also, for how many days were you on the road? We’re the gravel bags sufficient? Thanks and best regards your way!
Hello Dario, I don't live on Portugal so I am not sure about the weather, but I am sure it will be the coldest time of the year to go. check it out in google. It took us nine riding days to go from Lisbon to Santiago, one day off in porto. Gravel bags were enough if you are staying in hotels like us, if you are bringing camping gear, it will be more challenging but it can be done. Have a great time, we definitely did. Cheers!!
