Glad to hear that Chris! I thought so too but I also always think about how people who are new receive my videos... Unless you know what you getting yourself into it is hard to convince someone to watch a 40 min video :)
I'm going crazy with colors! I did not know this video with JOTA BARROS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surfing your channel Samuel I just saw it and I am extremely and very proud to see Jota Barros share photographic knowledge with you Samuel! Although I do not know him personally, it shows that he is a great person and as they have said in another previous comment, his work here in Spain should be much more recognized. Seeing them together makes me feel incredibly good, they are very good at their work, humble and healthy people and their language is adequate, they set a good example for our young people. I have been a streetphotographer since I was 13 years old, in 3 months I will be 36 years old, a little I know but I still have a lot to learn, you and others inspire me to improve my work, thank you guys. Greetings from A Coruña! : D
Canadian GR shooter here! I’m so happy you’re doing this, it’s so interesting to see all the photographers using Ricoh’s amazing GRs all over the world!
Jota seems hella cool. The cinematography in this project is probably the best I've seen from this channel as well as every photography related channel I follow. Inspired to shoot and just get out there.
Thank you and I appreciate the love! Happy to hear you like the cinematography. That is something I really enjoy and always try to integrate in my videos as much as I can. Cheers!
I really enjoy those series. Super sympathetic guests, high production quality, fantastic B-Roll. Probably the best series of street photography on YT. The Ricoh GR never interested me but now I can see their potential.
man, found your videos today and so glad I did! grew up in spain actually and as I have travelled I notice now looking back that I've been doing street photography for years without knowing 😅 with so much yet to learn, it is fun to follow people like you who document your process and seeing this in spain made me miss home and excited to shoot even more when I return. Thank you!!!
Hi samuel! I really liked the video, but I missed one thing ... Santiago is the city of rain, with an architecture and urban landscape modeled by the weather, and it was a fantastic opportunity to photograph its true essence, its soul . Therefore, it is missing to see more photos, more "field work". Now we are tired of seeing streetphoto with photographs of huge contrasts between lights and shadows. This was the perfect opportunity to be different, to do something different from others, in an unbeatable place for it. I have loved your conversations, but I would have liked to see your vision of Santiago... In any case, a great hug and congratulations to you and Jota!
So amazed to see Jota here! He is one of the greatest modern spanish street photographers, and I think he should be more recognized. Very good production, Samuel, greetings from Spain! :D
A very good interview! The Ricoh does good work but I prefer smaller and with zoom lens! Smaller sensor is OK especially if one is for laptop media or phone! Bravo.
I love your project! Many people only talk about camera specs and comparisons but this really IS about photography, it is about a journey, about discovering, and of course it was so nice to see that great company with Jota Barros, he is so amable (kind) and a real pro. Congratulations both of you. I am getting my GR iii tomorrow and that decision was made thanks to you both amigos! Greetings from Mexico!
I love that every clip is a live street photo, every clip is so interesting that a 40 minutes video feels like a 3 minutes one. (I’m that kinda guy that watches video skipping continuously, not your case). You inspired me to start street photography btw and I love it🍻
Thank you for the great impressions you could convey. It's really fun to follow you. I did not know photographer Barros yet, but I'll change that as fast as possible. Great things you have done despite rain. Beautiful inspirations - even in pouring rain - out in the world and take pictures. Greetings from Berlin Frank
Thanks so much for the inspiration - wonderful series. So good to see/hear different perspectives on street photography and how best to use the GR series.
I started photography at the age of eleven in 1979, by the hand of my father. I left the photo when the analog world disappeared, back in 2004. With the pandemic I have recovered everything analog, including the darkroom. I'm not thrilled with the "computer" side of digital photography, but I do admit that it makes street photography much more versatile. I've been following you for a while. I have confirmed on your channel that photography is emotion, feeling and empathy. Technique and technology are secondary, just a tool to say things that come from the heart. In short, a way of understanding the world. It's the best thing your stories have left me. I was born in Chile many many years ago, I grew up in Mexico and Barcelona, and now I live in Mexico. I am a professor of Art History. My mother's family comes from Galicia, from Santiago de Compostela. I have been following Jota Barros for a long time. Many emotions together... you made me cry. Thank you, Ariel Arnal.
I know this reply comes very delayed but I really do appreciate your kind words professor! It is comments like yours that keep me motivated and make me realize the power that these videos can have. Thank you again for your beautiful comment. Photography is beautiful. Best wishes to Mexico! Samuel
Hey Samuel, now that i have seen a pic from you on Sean Tucker Pages: he is using as well the RicohGR. Would be amazing to see you both in a episode of your GR Project....
Wow Samuel! Video production quality is superb and thanks for introducing us to a new place and a great photographer. Hope you have better luck with the weather in your next instalment. Keep up the great work!
I enjoyed your video as the first time. Thanks ! . Actually the compact camera is not as a sub camera for our travel now. Recently I started with Fijifilm Klasse ( the first model ) . I am looking forward to see your video further !
Jota Barros Hey Jota. Te sigo hace tiempo. Me gusta tu trabajo de calle. Las recomendaciones de libros que diste en una entrevista en photolari las tomé muy en serio. Abrazo colega!
Watching this video literally for the 15th or 20th time. The look of this master piece is incredible... I'm in love with your work, Samuel. Geile Arbeit! Gerne wieder mehr davon :)
Excellent as always and the perfect morning inspiration video for me heading out into the rain today in Seattle with my GR III in hand. Rain and a Covid ghost town - primo street conditions, am I right? 😜
Besides your reviews I really enjoy the photos you take. Some reviewers give great information but their photos, while demonstrating some quality or feature of a camera, are not inspiring. Yours very often are. Thank you. You also inspire me to use my GR III.
Awesome video Samuel! It was cool to discover a great photographer. By the way, I really feel you've improved the video production quality. A lot of nice b-rolls as well.
Loved it Samuel, amazing work! Santiago was my home for many years and where my passion for photography started! I'm really glad to see you there along with Jota! You need to learn how to love the rain there but hope you liked coffee liquor ;)
this was me for 4 years just traveling strictly with a gr-D nothing else. If u are ever in nyc and wanna hang n shoot i never really get to hang with other GR shooters
Hi Samuel! I love your videos. Congrats! I own on of the first GR Digital (8MP), but is always failing because his age :) I am thinking to buy a GR1 (APS-C, 16.2MP). Do you think is still a good camera? Any advice about it? Thank you so much in advance. When you plan to come to Lisbon, just let me know. Cheers
Loved this episode :) Great photographs. If it is not too much to ask , can you please list out the photographers shown in the photo-books.. it was little hard for me to understand their names. Thanks :)
Sergio Larraín Echeñique was a Chilean photographer. He was a member of Magnum Photos during the 1960s. He is considered the most important Chilean photographer in history, making street photography, often of street children, using "shadow and angles in a way few had tried before." Wikipedia
Hi Samuel, I just saw this video, your work its pretty stunning! congrats mate. It is a shame I didn't know you were coming to la coruña I could have help you when you were left alone (I leave in la Coruña).... anyway, keep it cracking!!
Another great video Samuel. Thank you. I have the GRIII and loving it. Wonder what your thought are on the up coming X100V? I have to get one for the weather sealing but will always keep the GR close by my side.
I think the X100V is probably the best value street/travel camera at the moment. They did a great job upgrading it. I personally shoot 28mm more than 35mm so I will probably not buy a X100 anytime soon but I really like the new one.
Auch diese Ausgabe von deinem GR Project hat mir wieder sehr gut gefallen - danke für's Zeigen! Darf ich fragen, was das für eine Daumenstütze an deiner GR ist..? Gruß vom Marco
