Their use of chord progressions was so their own. You can always tell a DeBarge song. It's got gospel, jazz, funk and even barbershop in there. I just wish they did clean beautiful music like this today.

Oh how much I loved this man. I was a teenager, tender age of 15 years old and I was in love with this sexy ass man. His soft tender soothing voice. I am now 47 years old and I still love this man. So sorry that both him and his family had to endure all the hardships of life. From the mental, emotional, sexual and physical abuse that drove them to drug use.
