I wish he would not be dead ! just would live forever with his cello. I just envy him, his performing, his sound, his vibrato, all of his cello. I love his posture, a little leaning back whenever he plays. I consider him the best singer with his cello, figuratively. the instrument, cello to me is very hard and big always.. but the instrument , cello to YoYoMa seems very easy, and small. He is just awesome ! I love his playing so much !!!

Dear Kathryn and my revered Yo-Yo Ma, your playing really makes me feel the true Piazzolian soul. And I'm telling this from the city of Buenos Aires, where I was born. Piazzola is one of my few Gods of Music. Thanks a lot.
Excellent. Considering all the back problems he had (or still has), I still don't understand why he doesn't use the postural pegs. He would be much more comfortable. Another thing that is hard for me to understand (from many cellists) is why every time they play Piazzolla it is done with so many glissandi. Suddenly, since the composer is Piazzolla, everything is allowed.... 🤔 It seems that everyone wants to imitate the violinist Fernando Suárez Paz, but Piazzolla also played with Antonio Agri, who was very different. Not all the tango string players use so much glissandi, which is nice here and there, I agree, but not all the time. Excellent performance anyway.
I think that the answer is: he feels it right, otherwise he wouldn't do it... cause you know, the guy is... Yo-yo Ma. How can you say "excellent performance" when all you've been thinking is the glissandi? go listen to his '97 recording of the piece in the album if you don't like this one. It's different. But this was live. It was quarter of a century after. So... you know... things change. I loved it.
@@vladiinsky I am a cellist and I know Yo-Yo Ma's previous recordings very well. I don't need to relisten them. If I said that the performance is excellent, it's because from the technical point of view, what he does is still appreciable, but what he does with tango is highly debatable, which doesn't seem excellent to me. Having said that, I don't give a damn if it's Yo-Yo Ma playing or someone else.
It is a Beautifull and correct perforando.... but if i hace to be critic i must soy that both Tango and Piazzolla are Bold, Daring and Irreverent in playing... there is a sentencia of respecto for the paper that hodls back WhatsApp its esencial in Playing Tango and Piazzolla... its a ver good fiesta takeaway, but you need to let ALL GO if you whant to catch the Spirit... Right Path but not there yet... Congrats of course but you need to burst your finguers... Yours EL TIGRE
