I'm sure that fine horse is capable of more than one trick. He's holding up well under a lot of stress from noise and aids to do a single gate. He shows a good temperament and deserves better.
There is nothing wrong with what they are doing, that beautiful horse is not being abused what-so-ever; nor is he being abused with the whip either, there are several reasons the trainer is tapping him with it; one could be to get him to go or move in a certain direction, another reason to slow down his gait or speed up his gait. That beautiful horse is probably more spoiled than most children. He is healthy and happy looking, if he was being abused he would not be handling the loud music or crowd well and he would be really skittish!!! He is doing none of those!!
Maggie Gee You welcome, these horses are very much a part of their heritage and I am sure they are very much loved. As far as the loud music think of it this way they are used to loud noises so they won't spook easy. The whip is more or less used to keep him at his pace or to get him to move in a certain direction. If you watch closely he isn't hitting him hard with it horses have a thick hide so I'm sure they feel it as a tap . You can see how healthy and beautiful he is and believe it or not but a lot of horses can sense when they are in the arena competing; horses have big egos and they actually do love the attention. I hate abuse with any animal and horses rank as my all time favorite. If I saw anyone striking such a beautiful animal to hurt him I would make it my duty to report him or her. You can train a horse without a whip but I guess it all depends on the individuals preference. I myself don't have a problem with it as long as they are not hurting an animal or trying to put fear into one. Wow, he sure is gorgeous I can't get enough of watching him.
I have a beautiful, well bred, and much loved PRE gelding that I wouldn't sell for a million dollars, but I have to say that this horse makes mine's hair look sad . LOL. This is the most beautiful Andalusian I have seen in my entire life. I hope the gene for the beautiful mane and tail is being passed to his foals. Good luck to you! Promote and keep this amazing horse safe. Long mane and tails are not the only reason to breed, but the PRE needs to keep those traits as a standard of the breed.
for people who know nothing of horses, that stallion is not terrified. Stallions are powerful animal, yes i can tell this horse is a stallion, he is a performance horse, he is well taken care of and properly trained, and to work him until he is tired keeps him thoroughly entertained and happy. The owner taps him with the whip he never hits him, with it he doesn't hit him with all his might. the horses ears are forward and attentive, he is listening for commands when he flickers his ears back.
Very well said!! but people have envy and jealousy! This horses are very well taken care of. You will think this people know any better? further more If a horse was abused he will show signs of stress!!. and we who had horses KNOW! I applaud the people who put their love and care and efforts into this MAGNIFICENT creatures!!
Absolutely beautiful. Pena, Chente, Chapo and Joan take very good care of their horses. They spend more money on taking care of them than any of you will ever make lol. This is not abuse.
Beautiful for 1 minute at the best. After that time, Piaffé is not right for him. If you open your eyes, you will be able to see that this pretty horse no longer plays : his master beats him every 3 seconds. Damned Cowboy ! Now, about that awful noise all the time around him with this guy trying to sing and rather crying : such a pity ! Of course they spend money to maintain them in good shape, but nobody would convince me that what they do with them is fine. Shame on them !
Daniela Soto I agree with you 100%. I have to laugh at some of the responses from a certain individual. Apparently they know very little about horses. There is no way a trainer could train a horse with fear and beatings and think he would go out there and perform as beautiful and graceful as this one did. Horses are very intelligent animals not stupid. If he was afraid he would be out of control, erratic and not performing well at all.
What a Magnificent Horse!! Please, forgive my Ignorance...I mean no Disrespect...but is He related to an Andalusian Royal Lipizzan?? I have seen them in the show ring, in Spain & Privately Owned...& Truly they earn the name with their Elegance & Beauty. He also appears Very well trained & not mistreated. An Awesome Positive Testament to His Trainer! What a Gorgeous Animal!! ~*Brightest Blessings & Thank You for Sharing Him!!*~
Animals should not be used as performers. They do not engage in this by their own choice, neither is it natural. We should have respect for animals. Horses are extremely sensitive, as are most animals. We need to be kind to animals. And that's not to say we should never allow an animal to work for us. But this looks like useless foolishness. Especially the noise and the crowds. I find it disrespectful to this animal to bring it into a loud, noisy arena and make him "dance". He certainly doesn't look like he's enjoying himself. He just wants it all to stop. That's the ONLY reason he's participating. If he had the choice he would NEVER EVER engage in this by his own choice. Is that a fair statement?
i've seen some horses have actually come with these type of movements since they were very small and they actually like what they do, and there are cases where some horses just do it because they don't have a choice and there is others that do like it
darko diamond I agree with you, although horses do 'dance" in their fields. however, it would surprise you to learn how respectfully most dancing horses are treated. i have seen really nice, respectful horse dancing and also atrociously abusive "dancing". This seemed too loud, and the horse obviously wasn't happy. You should watch Frederic Pignon and Magali Delgado. They are people who know how to achieve this without abuse. I am mostly okay with horse performing, but not TWH/other country pleasure because that is disrespectful. However, circuses and other animal entertainment acts disgust me. Why be abusive when you can achieve the same results in a kind, respective manner?
Ese caballo lindo we praise these horses and are the first true cowboys. You can read it in the American history books in school . We know how to maintain ours horses well . The music is not loud these horse are known to dance to loud music and in our culture is what we praise other than our work.
He is stunning. Definitely not abused. He is an Andalusian (Pure Spanish Horse or PRE (Pura Raza Española). They are naturally inclined for that sort of movement. He may look nervous to someone who is not used to seeing the breed in action but he is definitely relaxed and soft. Well, as relaxed as an elite athlete can be while in the zone. His handler is barely touching him. Beautiful!!!
This video makes me very sad.. poor poor horsey... horses are such sensitive creatures :( so pretty but being exploited like that. Like many other horses. Glad I'm not a horse. People are such bullies. All I can say is that the people around him most likely are not aware what they're doing to this poor poor creature.
His physical shape is not really a reliable indicator. People in prison are well fed too. There are kind ways to train a horse and there a cruel ways. Look at the trainer poking him in the side. You would probably cringe if you saw how they "trained" this horse to do this.
can u please tell me how is he sufering bcs they are not even riding him also he is walking on sand and he is walking on a smooth gait if u dnt knw nothing bout horses just save it we dont want to hear it
darko diamond btw they are gaited from birth just as the horses in puerto rico or paso finos u should focus on how cruel the THW are train not this ones
David, I know what a gaited horses is. I'm on a complete different level altogether. I'm into natural horsemanship. I.m.o. horses should be ridden without a bit. Also it's not natural for a horse to be "on the bit" (the bent neck position) for long periods at a time. It's hard on their backs. I'm against races, showjumping, rodeo's, and all other activities that exploit animals. Horses (all animals) are beautiful creatures, so willing to work for us. So let's use them for transportation maybe and treat them well, but not exploit them just for our own entertainment.
@amberelaine0824 That's good to know. I was speaking of horses in general, not your horse in particular. In the states, it's common practice to keep horses stalled and isolated from other horses in order to keep them looking this beautiful.
your words are true! Ezequiel Pena and Mr.Aguilar(+), the most amazing horse lovers, by the way there's a video when Cheque Pena was in tears, i mean, Crying, 'cause his horse die in act, so sad, I was in tears too!
This is a natural movement stallions will do when near mares, we have just put a command to it. If the horse was being hurt do you really think a massive stallion of such calibre would sit there and take it? One swift kick and that guy would be dead, it's ear is forwards and one ear is on the trainer. Learn a thing or two about horse training before commenting as such, an upset horse would have ears flat back and be head tossing or stomping at the trainer as a warning before kicking. Beautiful.
First of all for all of you people saying coments over the delagacy and tradition my culture bring to around these horses. We treat horses by respect we praise these horses and from what i seen for being horse owner and grown up to this culture with horses dancing... they are treated right and try the best to keep them healthy as we possible as we can. Also for those who dont like what we do... why leave comments? We dont judge you when many of you have may mistreated horses when you use them for Jumping, barell racing and much more. You call yourself the so call original cowboys who know everything about horses working in a ranch, but in reality your not. Open the history book look at the past see our history and see yours and tell me. why judge? Why complain? Why be so negative? We dont complain to but yet you have the right complain to us??? It doesnt seem fair, now does it !!?
Are you kidding me? Your culture ropes horses rear legs and flip them upside down for sport. Often legs are broken, but that does not matter to your culture. Your lack of horsemanship and great desire to of the males in your society to prove their masculinity causes horrific cruelty to horses and bulls. Shame on you!
Shame on me! Don't you have something better to do than keep commenting... Why don't you talk to people that are in your low society because all I ever see them doing is complaining. What I do recommend is learning about it before commenting anything. Secondly i did say in my other comments before if you got nothing nice to say don't say nothing at all. I did not come here to fight nor talk back to people like you. Your at a lower standard than me because i didn't come here to fight. My parents taught me better than fight, but did yours???
@Dawn Parker. Lippizaner stallions are highly trained but they will never be forced in a piaffe this long. I've seen several shows and been to a training in Vienna but I've never seen a horse doing a piaffe like this.
You are welcome, I had no idea you could go that deep into folkloric music of Mexico and the roll of horses in its culture. Antonio Aguilar is above Cheque Pena, my respects for that man, he is a big historic mark in the music, movies, horses and just Mexican culture and its roots, I recommend in RU-vid: Antonio Aguilar--Pa´que son pasiones, that version in particular is one of the many, many songs he sang, one of my favorites, no question, good day! ^..^ (paste and copy the name of the song)
Yes, so gorgeous! I'm sure a lot of endurance training went into this. The horse was working on a loose rein, ears attentive, listening, tail relaxed and not lashing , no rolling eyes...you could never get the beauty, control and poise this horse was demonstrating with abuse. Methinks he was enjoying himself, although all that racket was driving ME nuts!
the horse is not being beaten the whip is used only as an aide to help him understand what is expected of him please keep your comments to yourself if they are made from ignorance.
The issue is the time elapsed doing this one movement. He is tired and you can see it. You'd never see a Lippizan or any Spanish riding school do it that long as they have consideration for the horse.
And for those of you who say this prancing is abuse, take a sec and think. First off, that horse is in perfect visual condition, second, that expensive show horse probably gets the best care ever, and all he has to do is prance around for like 5 minutes every once and a while. If you really want to look at horse abuse, take a tour through New York City and observe the horses there.
Can you imagine how much he suffered to learn this dancing movement because it looks so hard to do that for a horse. Its insane. Horse looks beautiful when its in the prairie field running free.
Some might not think it's right, but it is far from abusive. The horse is not neccessarily unhappy- I guess some people don't know that horses use their ears for listening? My horses always have at least one ear back listening when I am working with them. This is a beautiful animal, and although I just love that mane and tail, I would not want to have to take care of it. It's difficult enough with mine that have ground-dragging tails.
I agree with you 100%!!! As I was watching this beautiful horse you can see knots pop out on his thigh/hip area on his back legs and i'm no expert but I could see the horse was in pain!! Those people need the same done to them! I have horses and it's not hard to tell when they are in distress!
the horse is in gorgeous condition, and is not being treated harshly, especially considering what could happen to it. like being a race horse in the US, or a Tennessee walking horse, or the 'by-product' of a premarin mare, or a rodeo bucking horse ...
