El Salvador Real Estate: Really cheap or really expensive?

What happened to them? Did they leave El Salvador? It's been almost 6 months since their last video?

​@alphonseSaintSivar Things changed there. It's really expensive for housing, food, gas etc. They were putting out these videos at the cusp of the changes. I went there February and actually left early. Not what is was presented to be.

I was actually about to make a similar comment.. El Salvador as a whole is very small so now that the country is safe a lot of our people are gonna want to come back and retire unfortunately if the government doesn't Crack down on foreigners buying property that more than likely will be used for rental Airbnb, hotels and or vacation homes that they will only utilize half the time than it makes it hard for it's own people to purchase property so we can live..(not saying all foreigners won't live there permanently but a lot might not) Costa Rica, Guatemala,Nicaragua and Mexico to name a few have this problem, where foreigners buy up land for more than what it's worth but ultimately end up rising the house pricing making it impossible for locals to buy in their own country.

@@mintusfuestas Having traveled in South America, SE Asia and Eastern Europe for the past 4 years, this problem exists in almost all those places. 200 K US for a fixer upper in any developing country locks the locals out and creates animosity between the new expat and the long time locals.

I was there 3 months ago. You're absolutely right. Yet the nice neighborhoods are little bubbles ... after paying $600k for your home and you go a few hundred yards or a mile down the road, there is extreme poverty. An Uber driver told me he and his wife are having a tough time. Bitcoin is in its fledgling stage there. Currency is USD thus, the country is under an even greater inflation crush due to relying on a lot on imports. Also, anyone with one eye open can see we're heading for a global economic fallout. If you're a "presumed rich foreigner" living there, then guess who's the target!? And you are not allowed to have home protection. No thanks ... Also EFTs were the nail in the coffin for Bitcoin. That was done to penetrate the currency by the large banking organizations, they can now control it. The new collective "whales" or shall we say killer whales ... It should never be influenced by external affairs. They knew what they were doing by approving EFTs.

@@loveyourbrother100 I guess he means owning guns in El Salvador is really difficult at the moment. Although they are planning to relax gun owning laws to please the americans that want to move here and don't because they can't bring their guns.

Bukele is a smart man. I'm sure his administration will soon implement taxes for social and civil services. A great divide is forming as one taxi driver told me.

@pirateking173 The taxes I paid for my hotel, car and food was ridiculous. EL Salvador is not cheap. I think part of the reason why this channel has dried up is because things have quickly changed. Bukele will soon jack those he's attracting there with taxes to support the rest of the country. It's a two step process, first entice people to come then bang, now you have to pay for the roads, parks, infrastructure that was invested in for your comfort and also help the greater community. It's always been that way. Even here in developing segments of the US.

Yep. Wanted a house there with a pool and 3/2. Somewhere with bars and beach. The prices I’m seeing are like 500-600k, which is like Florida.

​@@RootBeerGMTRight and next month it will be $700k. There are no housing market regulations and appraisals are not required. Sooo the sky is the limit for sellers who are seeing green as is this realtor. His people are conducting sales like an auction. Once they see interest the price goes up $20k or so. You're chasing a rainbow. It's totally ridiculous... Then you walk 100 yards or so from that home and people don't have running water or electricity. I ended my trip early ...

I don’t think we will ever see a regime open to freeing or going back to a gang ridden El Salvador. But I imagine foreigners will buy/own and ultimately benefit more than the people of El Salvador. We’ll see tho.

As Canadians we find these prices incredibly low. Average house price in Canada is nearing half a million, and that's for small homes in disrepair in crime ridden neighborhoods. A home custom home nestled in the mountains, for example, would start at $800,000 up there, and the taxes would push it even higher.

It seems disingenuous that they would be able to talk about a property and not be available to answer common areas that the profession requires. @@gloval5187 that's exactly what I thought. All I'm seeing is overpriced places, and a very deceitful way of doing business. All the aspects you mentioned above are valid questions that anyone interested in buying would make, and what a realtor would gladly answer.

I suppose it's all relative. There's zero-bedroom studio condos going for $600,000 in Canada, so to us a detached property right on a tropical beach in an ascending country for $200,000 looks really good.

Speaking personally, we would raise a family in any of those three places. We like Tamanique best because it's embedded in nature, quiet and peaceful.

I think they got some advertising gigs and are working hard at earning a living. Prices for everything there are going up faster than inflation, in my opinion. If you're all in like them, then "game is on" earning money to make your life happen. Especially if you need to buy a home. Those prices are rising practically weekly. It's no joke there if you're trying to get established.

Does the country your from have bitcoin as legal tender? It sounds like what youve seen over and over again is the fiat sytem doing what the fiat sytem does, over and over again. We haven't seen what a country run on bitcoin can do because its never been done before. The only thing i can compare to is post world war 2 united states when the dollar was gold backed.. this lead to the golden boomer age un the US. Land prices seem high now because they are priced in $. Once bitcoin takes over and land and property is priced in btc, those people who have been dilligently saving btc will find land prices a lot more affordable. House prices will no longer be inflated because the money supply will not be diluted through fractional reserve mortgage lending. This is why it is paramount that locals get both the knowelge of what bitcoin fundementaly does to traditional finance and the oppertunity to earn and save btc for the longer (or quite possibly sooner) term. It tips the whole sytem on its head where qe got back to saving and not borrowing to buy the things we need. These particular foreigners are bringing bitcoin with them which is flooding into elsalvador, there buying homes yes but they are also starting business and employing locals, using local services, helping other salvadorians onboard bitcoin with their business and attract more bitcoiners who want to pay in bitcoin. If el salavdor pull this off you can expect to see the country become a very high paid, world class financial hub with a high standard of living thanks to having the worlds strongest money, accross the country in the coming years.

You are better off working remote, local jobs are very bad, they usually don't pay more than $300-400 USD a month, even being a professional you can't expect to make much more than $700 USD a month.
