Love the way he would collect the ball mid air acrobatically and hold on to it so consistently. Where nowadays keepers mostly just parry the ball mid air.
Anyone that says this guy was just a clown has no idea and probably never saw him play in the 80’s and early 90’s. His athleticism was second to none and he commanded his area like no other keeper. World class at times and a really important part of Liverpool’s success in the 80’s. Club legend.
Pity we didn't see the rubber legs in the European Cup final penalty shoot out. Was probably my second fave goal growing up behind big pat jennings. But Bruce was the original cat.
I used to be obsessed with him as a kid. I used to practice diving like him all the time and had his pictures on my bedroom wall. When I finally met him at a training open day about aged 10 he was really arrogant and turned quite aggressive because I took a photo of him without asking his permission. I was only a bloody kid and too star-struck and shy to even speak to him. All the other players were great and friendly.
