ELAC speakers are stunning, no matter if Rolf Jahnke or Andrew Jones designed them...and they have a medium range, believe me...but they deserved much better amps than this Vitus....Trigon, Dartzeel, or for the maximum, the unmatched DNM from Denis Morecroft. ;-) And, please, give them DNM solid core speaker cables... Anyway, beside the fact, that since 25 years ago I can enjoy music reproduction only with my several models of the legendary Rehdéko full range speakers, because my concert visits are the only referance for me - old JBL horns and Studio Monitors like the 4355 and Western Electric`s I can also accept - if it comes to conventional Hifi speakers, only ELAC speakers find my agreement - the first I owned was the 135-II in the 80s with paper cones, and then the 515, finally the BS 243 Limited Editon.
@@JG-gg9wk my 5 inch woofer doesn't sound like the most detailed anymore but I definitely know my 15 inch subwoofer has the best bass sound in the world and when I was testing my subwoofer my neighbors was making a hooting sound so my neighbors must think my subwoofer has the best sound in the world as well
I pay elixir a steel strings on my guitar everyday and that system sounds nothing like music. Everything is metallic not just the guitar. Why do all audiophiles listen to female vocalists. I think they are a bunch of lonely people
Not sure, the sound seems too boxy and metallic compared to Overnight Sensations or even budget grade VEF Radiotehnika RRR when listening on cheap Senheiser HD415. Even Monitor Audio R250 if I remember correctly had less enclosure resonance than some KEF speakers which seemed to sound in similar way to these playing some acoustic guitar when listening in person.
These 243.2 are old ones. Now they have the 243.3 and the 244.3 (this one has the bigger woofer). But the 400 series and now Vela are even better. I run 13 speakers of the 400 series in a dolby atmos and auro 3d setup. A pair of FS 409 as Front, a pair of FS 407 as Rear, 2 x CC 400 as Center and Hight Center, 2 pairs of BS 403 and 3 WS 1665 for the ceiling. It is absolutely awsome, when you give them enough power. The newest line now of the 400 series is "Vela".
im trying to figure out if i want these, or the lsx's... For someone just getting into the HIFI realm (Coming from Iems, sub 100$ ones) should I go kef? I love soundstage, imagining, and have a subwoofer already so bass doesnt matter to me for these so far.
Surely having all those other speakers around in the same room are acting as passive radiators and significantly affecting the sound of the active speaker? In my room I have an acoustic guitar and when I cough I can hear the guitar reverberating in response to the sound wave! so the effect of these other speakers in the room must 'colour' the sound of the speaker being auditioned/recorded.
JET 5 tweeter Delivering true high-definition sound, ELAC’s JET 5 tweeter enthralls with its lightning-fast response and wide dynamic range, offering minimal distortion, lots of headroom and a distinctly wider frequency range than conventional dome tweeters. The ELAC JET tweeter is one of the most legendary tweeters in the industry and has won international praise with its transparent and effortless sound image. The JET tweeter was developed to perfection on the basis of the famous Air Motion Transformer by loudspeaker pioneer Dr. Oskar Heil. Its operating principle is based on a concertinaed-foil membrane, driven by a strong magnet system of neodymium rods. This motor drives the air considerably faster than the pistonic motion of a conventional driver, with gains in higher sensitivity and extraordinary dynamics. Due to many additional design changes, like an improved new neodymium magnet system, even higher efficiency, higher sound pressure levels and frequency response up to 50 kHz was achieved. The core of the JET tweeter is the folded foil membrane. With a fold width of only 0.84 mm, a major requirement in the JET production is precision. To guarantee repeated accuracy and unchanging quality even with high production capacity, gluing and handling are now executed by two SCARA robots. The folding and fixing of the membrane, however, are executed by hand, since for production steps requiring extreme precision, the manual dexterity of skilled technicians is irreplaceable. Due to continuous improvement, the JET 5 tweeter creates an effortless, airy and resonance-free image up to 50,000 Hz, and with its linear frequency response is ideally suited for the reproduction of DVD-A and SACD.
