My son just had this. Your video helped us make sense of an otherwise unremarkable (to us) image. Thank you! This is what the internet was supposed to bring with it. Making us smarter and more educated.

Fantastic! Thank you. As a recently graduated radiographer I always thought that this was never explained to us sufficiently. This video is perfect.

Wish they had time in A&E to explain this or could send this link to patients as it makes much more sense than a nurse just telling you there is a sail sign.

I just want to understand when the people from my MRI put down mild joint effusion what dose this mean? because was told by doctor nothing is wrong with my elbow but hear I am almost a month later and still in lots of pain when I try to move around my arm and use my hands but workers comp Dr said there is no reason for me to be in pain and just have a mild strain if even that. I am not buying it because my elbow would not still be hurting this bad.

I fell violently on my elbow 3 days ago & thanks to you i'm able to "match" my radio with the D , i can clearly see the sail sign & posterior fat pad ...Maybe a stupid question but is it possible to have an effusion without any fracture ( My radiologue coudn't see it on the radiographs & my generalist don't think there is one ) ... i'm under anti inflammory meds & regaining mobility quite fast i would say .
@Carabin33fr
@Carabin33fr 9 лет назад
Jess Breheret it's possible to have effusion without any fracture but in your case.. because of the notion of trauma. It's very likely you had a small fracture.. that just wasnt visible on the xray. It's what we call an occult(hidden) fracture. But being so small.. it heals fast.
@jessbreheret
@jessbreheret 9 лет назад
Carabin33fr Hi , so it's been almost a year now and i sometime feel it ( its getting better ) ... but doing lifting exercices all year long i guess it's my fault it doesn't not heal so well .

@@jessbreheret came across this just now. I know it’s so many years later but any advice with this looking back. I have effusion in both elbows from a skating accident Wednesday. They couldn’t see a fracture either. I couldn’t move my arms really for first day but gained mobility the next two. My left is doing well, my right is more right, but both are very weak. With my left despite having some good range of motion back, I can’t squeeze really, and trying to twist things( bottle caps, etc) or pull things( deodorant cap) I can’t do because it’s tight in my elbow of course but also my forearms get a pain in them that reminds me of shin splints.
@jessbreheret
@jessbreheret Год назад
@@zacharywaynewatson8888 I regain full motion without pain 2-3 weeks of rest . YET i still have to this day , after 8 years, disconfort while doing some movement or resting on my elbow in some positions ... its really weird. My advice : Make sure a specialist is beeing thorough with your exams ... really insist !

@@jessbreheret alright, I appreciate you giving some feedback! I know the original comment was so long ago but thought I’d take a shot. Thank you again! It definitely is a strange injury. I’ve taken so many falls over my life and this was one wild.
