@@TheElectricRoadTrip some of the greatest advancements start on simple workbench projects. I wish I had the time, space and vision to attack similar projects. Plus, never underestimate the inspiration you are to your children - they WILL carry this forward in some form in their lives. Again. Kudos sir!
We need more updates, lol. Your video on the kids jumping off the top were awesome. Reminds me of the fun to be had on lake. I haven't been in 40 years. :(
If I was going to get backup (and I haven’t), I would get a trolling motor. I’ve had the boat out at least a dozen times now with no issues since they replaced the motor
I don't get people who make their kids wear lifejackets but don't themselves. Setting a good example is always more important than forcing rules on others in my opinion (i.e. that way people learn to do things because they want to instead of resenting that they have to).
That’s an interesting thought. In part the decision to make kids wear it is not mine because it’s the law. But I probably would make them wear it even if it wasn’t the law even though I don’t. The reason is that they are often running around, occasionally leaning off the boat, jumping off the boat etc. So there is arguably a greater chance that they would bump their heads on something and get knocked out and then potentially drown. Could happen to me as well, but the odds are lower. But it wouldn’t hurt to have me wear one as well. I started wearing one while sailing because I realized the boom could unexpectedly hit me and that could be the end, especially without a life vest. Not too worried while driving a pontoon though
Do they make 50 hp motors? This was a new motor line for Elco. They just had some kinks to work out. They gave me a brand new, updated motor, and all has been fine since.
@@TheElectricRoadTrip Thank you very much for information. If I could find out what brand they are, I'd be much obliged. I'm trying to find an equivalent in my country, but it's not easy so I'll probably have to buy them in the US. Greetings from Poland. Great training video!

We’re still not 100% sure. I reached out to Elco and they felt the best answer was just to replace the entire outboard. Apparently they have an upgraded design coming out compared to the one I had. They originally said the replacement was about 6 weeks out, but when six weeks came they asked for 3 more. Historically they’ve sold very very few 50 hp outboards so they just don’t produce many of them. I think they’ll start to sell more now and should ramp up production, but I’m just a random customer so I could be wrong. Anyway, hopefully I’ll have a new motor soon. Also, my new seats we’re supposed to come last week and they are also delayed… I have put the aluminum framing for the upper deck on the boat, so that’s progressing.
Was a motor issue. They gave me an upgraded motor that they are now including in all their 50 HPs. I’ve run it a couple months now without any issues. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ry4N3HfSlqQ.html
