You can Wield jellyfish shield left hand, so before going in wonderus potion, golden vow , go in terra magica with staff, switch to greatsword and charge in right hand, put jelly shield left hand and charge that for more buff, witt the best talismans you can up your damage by 120% give ore take
Yeah you could put in the dragoncrest greatshield talisman - this will boost your physical defense nicely. The use Howl of Shabriri incantation to boost your attack power :)
if just levelling b/c pve and going ng+7, what do you do after 80 int? is it any worth going into dex/str? thanks! i like having greatblade phalanx for extra stagger to take adv of the dagger talisman
Unique weapons often have unique weapon skills - ashes of war are items that allow you to add skills to weapons. Moonlight greatsword is the unique skill of the Darkmoon greatsword. It is not an ash of war.
I barely finished farming swords for poison build, just started farming Magma Swords for another of your builds and there is a new one... Love how solid they all are.
Haven’t tried the build out yet but this guide is amazing!!! Perfectly timed and includes all the info I would need. There’s no 50 minute long explanation just quick and to the point, also beautifully edited. Everytime I watch a build guide I end up spending extra time looking up where all the items are located so it’s great that it’s all included. After this video, I’m happily subscribed and excited for new content!
Big fan of the resi games mate. I was there at the start, have played all the originals :)

you can improve this build by using the gideon weapon ash of war, the regal spirit horn ash of war and greygroll roar. these 3 combined debuff target defense.
I really can't complain, because from soft did give me everything I asked for when it comes to support for the moonlight blade, but I hope that in a future game we get both the moonlight blade and the dark Slayer. Possibly even the ability to combine them into the excelsior.
If you rushed like me, and Seluvis is no longer with us, a great option to substitute the magic scorpion charm is the axe talisman which increases your charged attacks damage by 10%. This affects your Dark Moon Great-sword’s projectile and can often make a fight one hit less than the build shown in the video (depending on play-style).
Great video! Quick question! Is this build worth it without the Magic Scorpion charm?! I currently have Rotten Sword Winged Sword Insigma, Godfrey, SOA, and Dragoncrest Greatshield. I also have the Graven-Mass talisman too. Let me know what you think + anybody in the comments. Thanks!
To you my good sir, i offer a build, a build to rival the OG ROB Katana, using the DLC as reference to enhance the build from powerful to beyond dangerous. Weapons: Dragon Hunters Great Katana +10, Gravel Stone Seal +25, Black Bow +10 (optional but for ranged options much farther its a good addition), stack with Bleed Arrows Armor: i pack light for Dex builds but if you wish, my armor is the Black Knife armor set with the Skeletal Mask Talismans: Great Jars Arsenal, Blue Dancer Charm, Rotted Twin Sword Insignia, and either Dragoncrest Shield Talisman or Lords Talisman (Shield for Defense Lords to make Incantations last longer) Spells: Golden Vow, Barrier of Gold, Swarm of Flies, and Rotten Breath (more can be added, but Bleed and Rot are your two main forces of damage) Stats: (with some calculations for invasion builds and just avoiding unnecessary damage) Vigor 35/40, Mind 25, Endurance 45/50, Strength 15 (minimum for the sword), Dexterity 40/45, intelligence no change, Faith & Arcane 25/35 (shift for spells you want to add or to increase damage proks such as Bleed and Rot)
How poetic it is that the Staff of the Fullmoon and the Seal of the Golden Order, are now used by the one chosen by the union between Blue and Gold. And with the Dark Moon Greatsword at hand, we truly are the Moon Knight.
how come im not using up energy when using my sword and throwing out magic with it? also seems like i do the same damage with the magic attack from the sword even if its 2handed or 1handed so seems like it doesnt matter for taht
It only costs FP when you activate the "Moonlight greatsword" skill. While this skill is active (I think it lasts ~60s), you can throw out as many beams as you want without costing any FP.
if you;re trying to stay meta level you can drop 10 points from vig, 20 from int, 7 from endurance 8 from mind and 5 from faith. 20 points from int sounds like alot but there are diminishing returns after 50int for weapon damage and 60int for spell damage, so the last 20 points dont scale as well.
@@officialdabaws5228 I was wondering about this, myself, as I happen to be exactly level 150 at the moment. Something to consider, though, is that while you only need 60 INT to wield the Scepter, you must have 68 INT at a minimum to cast Ranni's Dark Moon. I'm thinking of going with something like: 50VIT - 25MND - 25END - 16STR - 13DEX - 68INT - 25FTH - 7ARC. Minimums are set for everything except Blackflame's Protection, which can be worked toward with the next few levels (or use that +5 Faith talisman, Two Fingers Heirloom, in your fourth slot as a placeholder).
@@linkblade91 those stats are fine too, i mean you can drop faith entirely if you wanted and pump int and mind a bit higher and just lean into sorceries a bit more (this is personally what i have done), also get faith to atleast 10 so you can use magma shot (its a sorcery but requires 10 faith), its important to have a way to reset frostbite
Finally a video that shows you the starter class! Would be great to know where to go from there like what path to follow, weapons/stats to prioritize etc. But better than most guides who start at lvl 150 and go from there haha
Ashen one! I love the content and subscribed to your channel! I was wondering if you could do a ruins greatsword strength build for the DLC for maximum damage!
Anyone think the darkmoon great sword is decent for pvp, specifically invading/defending against invaders? Or would this be primarily affective against pve?
Finally moving to intelligence builds now after my bleed build and Strength build(s) but I had so much fun with my Strength/Faith build the Moonlight Greatsword is the only thing I can stand to use. However my ash of war is going far less damage. Does it mainly scale off intelligence?
I feel like I've just revived a necro-thread from reddit right now, but quick question if anyone can give some advice; I'm on NG and botched the magic scorpion charm quest with roofy puppet dude. What would be a recommendation for another talisman until I get through NG+?
is there a different armor set I can use other than the one in the video? no offense but that armor looks awful. Anyway great vid you actually go in depth and explain stuff as well as provide actual buff percentages. You earned yourself a new subscriber
I use Loretta's set (minus the helmet so I can see my face), I think it looks elegant and the color scheme matches the Darkmoon greatsword and Carian Regal Scepter very well.
@@joejolion No, it doesn't boost magic skill dmg like the Spellblade set. Defense stats are pretty decent, but I'm mainly wearing it just for the look haha!
I've always wanted to try a mage build but I can't seem to do well with any other weapons besides colossal swords. So I thank you for making this guide!
@@marcusholm9579ritual sword talisman is awesome since you are ranged and do a lot of stagger. The old reliable Dragoncrest Greatshield, or if you wanna be bold Ritual Shield Talisman is way more powerful than people give it credit for.
boosting this build even further: jelly fish shield even more damage. only thing: you need to use the jelly fish shield buff as very last after the dark moon sword buff. since if you swap away the shield, the buff is gone, and when its equiped you cant use dark moon buff. then spam heavy attack.
While a good looking attack with that build I found it to rely way too much on you to load up the weapon for that attack and the range is meh, while most bosses also just dodge it plain and simple. Any magic prepping is void really for most bosses as you don't have time to cast those spells mid fight.
golden vow and black flames protection does not last that much for hard fights. You have to buff the sword also, I think just using one of those or none at all, only Ranni's dark moon, is actually better for higher NG+
I find that with Moonlight it's more efficient to just do a point blank fully charged Moonlight Wave when an enemy gets staggered. Not only do you get the boost from Godfrey's Icon but you get 2 instances of damage per hit. One from the sword swing and the other from the wave. You can also get 2 of them off in the time it takes to do 1 critical stab and the amount of damage you deal from it outperforms the stab.
Already tried this build but i suggest using jellyfish shield ash of war contagious Fury add terra magica or golden vow to increase further damage and its also consume less fp than those spell and it take less time to activate
Maybe the ritual sword taliman? That will boost your attack power as long as you have full health. So should offset quite well. You can also switch to the jellyfish shield in your offhand and use its buff ‘contagious fury’ to boost your attacks by 20% 💪👍
@@AshenOneGaming thank u but I found that I don’t need that scorpion to kick the crap out of the boss’s with this build I do more then enough damage with three of the talismans
This video is amazing quality. I thought you had at least 1M subs when I clicked it. Only tip is drop the intro animation. It makes you look like a small creator from 2011 even though the rest of the vid is worthy of millions of views

What’s a good weapon for the early game. Basically building up until you get the sword. I’ve always done strength and want to branch out and love the look of this build!
Would've been nice if you told us to get the Magic Scorpion Talisman before getting the Darkmoon Greatsword. Seluvis is dead and i can't get this full build together now..... irritating.
You can run this build just fine without Magic Scorpion. I was going to drop it anyway as I don’t like that you take more physical damage. Just slot in graven mass talisman and dragoncrest greatshield.
I would probably put the Erdtree talisman +2 for the last slot (the one that gives hp, stamina, fp? and less weight) Though it does lose some value if you got heigh endurance and I do. It's a comfortable talisman, more defensive than for damage.
This is even more awesome at level 120. With this power I only run 40 vigor and 70 INT with the INT tear, so that's 30 less points with the same power! Umbasa! I also have been adding some thorn sorceries with a guilty staff AND carian staff offhand for extra power for carian slicer and Adula's moonblade to make a thorn frost mage hybrid. Fun times!
Im only level 90 right now but just completed rannis quest and got the sword. How should I distribute my stats at this point? Which ones should I focus on first?
60int to hit the soft cap, 25 endurance, 30 mind, 50 vig. if enough points left, get faith to 25 so you can use golden vow if not enough points its only golden vow so dw just work toward it. then start aiming for this guys stats. i'd prio getting mind to atleast 35 and endurence to atleast 30. then dump points in int until you're matching these stats if you push the build that far.
@@AshenOneGaming as long as it’s not bleed again I’ll be happy. Bleed is so op. Like mohgs spear and a mimic is crazy or executioner with mimic or gargoyle or bandit or beast duel wield it’s just so over powered. I went back and just did strength build or strength and Dex. No magic no buffs no spirits. Only way it’s fun anymore I hope they up it for dlc
I’ve always hated playing as a mage in all souls games. I prefer strength builds but I’ll be honest, I tried this build and it was kinda fun to play with.
