Just another one of the things on the long list of things that DS2 did the best, it did alot of things wrong just a shame they have never taken any of the ideas from that game to future ones.

Except the difference is you don’t have to kill yourself to get rid of the beast form

Ghost in the chair won't spawn unless you have the painting IIRC. The painting is supposed to act as a treasure map (you're supposed to find where the painter was standing using the POV and landmarks).

There are a lot of hidden areas under it, but it's pretty simple.
