The most surprising part of the gameplay was the player finding a door and actually opening it instead of getting the message "does not open from this side"
It needs a lot of work still, the lighting is held back, the near field anisotropics are too rigid and the clipping is just careless showing the physics engine isn't working as hard as it could be. Is this also on last gen? Looks and sounds great still
@@albondeb3364 Thank god the fucking physics engine isn't working as hard as it could be, I want a playable game not my fucking computer exploding, geez.
Lmao same graphics, same assets, same animations, same looking armor, same medieval fantasy universe, yeah no wonder you " know what to expect " lol this isn't even a DLC, it's a Dark Souls 3 mod that looks like it was made by one guy in 2 or 3 months. Jesus this studio is even worse than Ubisoft they can't even bother to change a walking animations and you keep defending them, aren't you tired of playing the same game every year since a decade ? No wonder there is less and less studios trying to create ambitious games with original world we've never seen before, why bother to take risks and create something you've never did before and take the risk to get your game spitted on by the gamers, when you can recycle the same garbage for 10 years and have people actually congratulate you for being lazy
basically an instant buy if youre a fan of the soulsborne series and you like open world games. gorgeous, tough fights and nice bosses, and smooth gameplay. whats not to like?
@@vikthestampede Thats why I said “if you’re a FAN of the soulsborne series *AND* you like open world games”. Maybe learn to read first and then be a smart mouth in the replies, before flexing your illiteracy. Absolute lunkhead.
@@vikthestampede how hard is it to not comment anything? he obviously is a fan and then you comment under a reply you literally read, that the open world part sucks. does it make you happy to start arguments or what? if you dont have anything good to say just dont say it at all, click off the video and don’t buy the game damn. go play something you like instead of hating on a game that hasn’t even came out yet and being a douche😒
They re-use animations and sounds and it's still more original, has more soul (no pun intended) and love than any bland, bloated, creatively gray and bankrupt ubisoft game nowadays
I baffles me that so many people have a problem with Fromsoft re-using assets in their games when Monster Hunter and Yakuza have been doing it since the fucking mid 2000's and nobody says a single thing about it
@@chadohlkang2597 It's like all the Fromsoft titles got together and became one perfect example of Fromsoft's theory of game design. I just know this game is going to consume hundreds of hours of my life if not more
@@chadohlkang2597 True. A lot of people will rightfully disagree, but I could be given a new dark souls game every year and would never get tired of them. The fluidity of the combat, the great boss designs, the music! I just can never get enough.
This is literally Dark Souls 4, even if they deny it. The fighting system is practically the same as in Dark Souls 3, the setting and the characters all seem to be taken from the same universe. I wouldn't be surprised if this happened in the distant future after Dark Souls 3.
Nah goty will go to some crap game they threw alot pandering in and no one will like it . A truly good game like this will be ignored as it doesn't throw in life politics into the game
@Lord Commissar bingo, most, if not all GOTY are paid to be GOTY. The game awards haven’t shown results based off what the players want in awhile. That was apparent after the last of us 2 stole as many awards as it did.
yeah that was sick to watch him duck the spear attack and then posture break him. Looks like some attacks will have I-frames against other attacks. (Like a thrust?)
God this really does seem like the ultimate culmination of all fromsoft has learned and created over the last decade. Much like most other people, I'm super fucking excited to experience the final product
When speaking to the NPC at 16:06 you see a dialogue box that gives the options "In order to obtain a Great Rune" or "Keep silent", curious if collecting Great Runes are how you progress through the game
@xill cy I mean FromSoftware's games worldbulding, lore, soundtrack and gameplay are always masterclass. Elden Ring tho seems to be doubling down on all fronts being the first Open World game they're making as well as having George P.R Martin work on the lore with the team. Apparently its also their most beginner game friendly yet (although it still is difficult but there are much more options now). If you liked Skyrim and Witcher then you should 100% find multiple things to love here.
Doubt it's that close man, think like jose said it was a dodge of some sort. If you look at the hitbox for DS3 you can see they cover a big area around the actual model.
10:48 Mimics make a return! The chain on the chest is looped back around versus serpentine towards the front. Also anyone notice how a few models and elements are reused from DS3 & Bloodborn?
Guess this puts the graphic complaints to rest. looks awesome, and love how it combines elements from Dark Souls x Bloodborne x Sekiro! ALSO POTBOY ACTUALLY TALKS! 2:25
I'm kind of annoyed they keep recycling animation s from their previous games lol. Could have at least sped up the animations on back stab or critical hits.
As someone who is absolute ass at SoulsBorne games and has never been able to beat a single one to date...I'm still tempted to buy this game after seeing how cool it looks and how fun it could be if I could ever actually "git gude."
Why not play Pokémon ds3 mod? Also I’m under the impression that it’s not a build and Morso an innate skill that has a limit as fromsoft have said it’s going to be an essential part of any build so… maybe it will have a specific stat that increases number and damage of them but I don’t think so
@@ImmaDoWhatIWant Have you ever heard of how polite Japanese people are? Heard of "nihongo jouzu" meme? They will be exited if some foreigner made fruit ninja type of bullshit, and praise how well they interprent their culture. Play literally any japanese game about feudal Japan, you will see enormous difference in story telling, character building etc
@@堂島の龍4649 Finally someone speaks the truth. I 100% agree. Ghost of Tsushima is an overrated overhyped game mediocre at best. I no longer trust the media.
Absolutely amazing. Elden Ring seems to combine the best of each game. It looks like it will be a serious GOTY contender and could be the best game that FromSoft has created.
@@SickNick08 If it turns out to be everything we had hoped for, it's gonna be tough to compare the two because they probably will be great in their own way.
@@SickNick08 Bloodborne will always hold a special place in my heart with FromSoft games. It’s focus on aggressive fighting was perfect, which was a great break needed by the community since DS1-2 let you turtle behind a shield. I really hope Bloodborne comes to PC someday.
I am completely speechless. From this trailer it seems like this is everything I expected of an open world souls game. Even though there are a few reused animations and sounds, I can see there are so many improvements (especially the magic) that this will be an outstanding game. Also I am so stoked to hear more of Yuka Kitamura's music in this game. Great trailer overall!
I think the reused sounds and animations (well, they re-did the animations) is just to call back to Dark Souls, as each DS often did the same of the prior title. Sort of a "cute thing" to do, so people know it's similar.
Honestly i really dont mind re used animations and effects cause it cuts down on dev time and effort and means they arent wasting time treading old ground
@@corennet.6776 Nah reused animations and assets are probably there to save time and resources, which they hopefully utilized well to work more on the contents of the game.
I can't get enough of Greatsword strong attack animation + the sound effect. It's like Guts. If something is really good, why change it? There is a risk of having bad animation if they created entirely new ones, then expect delay + complaints, etc. Many games have dungeons, maps, traps, mobs to defeat, chests to loot, a huge open world to explore and weak combat that doesn't give you that dopamine when playing souls. Anytime I could fire DOOM 1/2 and just play, it's fun and accessible. I would feel lazy to play (Insert top 5 FPS game name here)
The implementation of spirit help is fantastic! I love that they increased the range of magic attacks while keeping the delay so you'd have to rely on spirits in order to prepare a spell
@@MichaelDoesLife Yes Michael, we all know this game will be a big flop :-). It's ironic to call From Software lazy with all the amazing level design they do and the endless talk since Dark Souls and their influence on game design.
@@MichaelDoesLife If you don’t like or wish to play it. Then move on, no one is forcing you to be here. FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki create fantastic gaming experiences for players. Your comment wasn’t necessary to be bias upon an unreleased game. Let people enjoy things…
I’m crying at how amazing this looks. I notice a lot of DS3 in here but honestly I loved DS3 and don’t mind one bit. There’s seems to be enough newer elements to separate the two. Great looking combat, beautiful visuals, and crazy af boss fights. This is gonna be another game I grind the f out of when it comes out. I’m gonna become the next Elden Lord!!!
The game looks amazing. I love the open world, new game mechanics (summoning of friendly minions), more approaches (from stealth to guang ho) to the fight, the map and its markers. This is a mandatory day 1 game. Tbh as a soulsborne fan I've never been more excited about a game before and can't wait for the release day.
This definitely looks like a strong GOTY condender. I'm relatively new to FromSoftware's titles, but easily had my best gaming experiences playing through all of the Dark Souls games. I cannot wait for this!
It’s definitely hard not to notice if you’ve played DS3 a bit! Curious to see how many weapons are exactly the same (as great club seems to be?) or if they’re mostly novelties or callbacks
There's nothing wrong with being hyped, don't fear disappointment and enjoy the hype. If the game sucks, atleast you enjoyed the hype, if the games good then you enjoyed both the hype and the game.
>Miyazaki doesn't disappoint >rehashed combat mechanics >rehashed sound effects from Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro >even the first npc you hear speak to you is basically Lord Rydell from Demon's Souls Top kek
@@Knight_Of_Eleum_Loyce From Software has always developed games like this and to all of a sudden have an issue with it means you probably never liked the souls games anyway. Even the souls games are just improved versions of their old products which is an improved version of demon souls. Then Bloodborne is just an alternate Souls game with refined mechanics. Sekiro was their first big gameplay experiment in decades. This seems to take all the most refined aspects from those games and bring it all together. While I can slightly understand the criticism. It's incredibly misplaced here
@@TNTspaz Yeah idk what people were expecting when they have always been this way.. I'm very excited to see this and I have absolutely no problem if it plays similarly to dark souls. I was actually worried that it would be way too different but it doesn't seem like it. I'm sure there are some changes that we have yet to see though.
@@GreatRaijin He ain't milking, my God was Bloodborne incredible, it only makes sense that people who played it are hoping for a second installment, if you haven't by the way then you absolutely should. God bless ya lad
I just really hope there is Pyromancy with more variety outside of fireball spam, I'd love to see some real varied and viable pyromancies to defend myself from other players with
REALLY felt that tease at the end with the cutaway just before the characteristic “you died” message. Cmon FromSoft, how am I supposed to know I died without some angry red text telling me I died?
This is going to be my favorite game ever. Although I will say that they should make the markers you put into your map more visible as they just seamlessly blend into the background. Other than that, this is literal perfection.
It looks like the fall damage may have been lessened for the verticality of this game, and I must say Fromsoft if you’re showing this much footage of how we can now jump and get on top of buildings and such I’ll be very disappointed if I find any invisible walls.
I'm pretty sure that damages and other dtuff have been changed FOR this preview. We will most likely be unable to do those jumps withiut severe damage, and we'll probably need to invest a lot on "mind" and "intelligence" to summon spirits and use magic arrows and stuff

biggest improvement has to be FromSoft doing actual facial animations For real though, I'm super excited, it looks absolutely amazing!
Surpassed my expectations. In certain parts it feels like Demon's Souls 2 (the design of Stormveil Castle is eerily reminiscent to 1-1 in Demon's Souls, the girl in black robe calling you "traveler from beyond the fog"). Thank you Miyazaki.
Good thing Berzerk has always been one of the main inspirations for this games. I don't remember where I read it, but elden ring is supposed to be the most Berzerk like of all the games
1. The Dark souls games was all about Light and Darkness 2. Bloodborne was based on H.P Lovecraft Old One Gods 3. Nioh and Serekio was inspired on Japan folklore. What do you think Elden Ring will be based on?
I know this is Elden Ring & I'm super excited about it! But just imagine such an open world for the Bloodborne series with it's lovecraftian take on things if we ever got a sequel. Can't wait to see more details soon on Elden Ring~
I’m really curious about the magic mechanic. Like do you still have to use different weapons to cast different types of spells, or do you just wear a special type of magic glove and now you can cast Pyromancies, Black Magic and Miracles all in one equipment piece?
You can see them cast magic using a staff in part of the video and from the sword during the boss fight so it's hard to tell. Maybe some of the spells like soul greatsword are actually combat arts?
It's a great progression of the Souls Formula... a "little step"... I mean, is not a big change, but that feels like another Dark Soul game... that it's excellent... Also, looks like a dark Zelda game... I love it... In that way, the community will be the same... if you like the formula from the "From Software" you will love this game... If the game changes too much, the community will split saying... "I prefer the old formula"... vs another part that will explain that all changes are good... As is, the fans cannot be able to fight about the new additions and the respect of the old formula...
There is a fine line that should be considered making games that have a long rich history and fromsoftware knows that you should always keep the OG'S in mind but at the same time welcome new hollows and so far they did a really good job with that. I have seen a couple of people complaining about the animation and it's an absolute disgrace that this is even a subject. Yes the parry attacks are the same but that is not a bad thing at all plus there is alot of new improved animation but i guess that some people just loves barking a little bit too much. All and all elden ring looks incredible and i just like to mention that comparing it to demon souls remake is unfair because its a goddamn PS5 exclusive (and it doesn't take a genius to know that this kind of comparison is dumb) and elden ring will be accessible for all. This game will be An absolute joy to play and i hope that everyone gets to enjoy it and have fun because that is what truly matters.
