shield counter builds are very fun and refreshing after rolling and jumping for +200 hours straight

@@Rev.Serenity i prefer passive damage negation in combination with rolls. heavy armor and big phat sword all the way. btw with such a build you can still somewhat do a counter-build, but if the combo goes beyond 5 swings its gonna stancebreak without talismans to negate stamina damage, but the actual damage taken is negligible though, which makes for some nice occasional clutch counters... it also wins the poise battle against pretty much anything that isn't a boss or one of those weird ass hornsent/divine bird warriors that might as well be named poise kings.

If this is his first non-cheese "normal" build I doubt he'll even be able to make it to the DLC without summons

Actually perfect, I'm newer and only played a little of every soulslike before elden ring. The run back is practically gone in ER which is already a plus to me

endgame faith builds are amazing. Early game is the only issue due to lack of good offensive spells. Ng+7 in dlc I was still instakilling bosses with a dragon cult build while being underleveled in scadutree fragments. And besides bleed builds most of the best weapons are faith based lol
