As a Souls-vet I have to say this was the smoothest Souls experience I've ever had. Until I got to the secret area... And then the secret boss... Whom of which I still cannot believe I beat. From Soft are so sadistic sometimes lol.

I play Souls for the same reason I play SMT, which is I want to go from the weakest little bitch boy to the absolute strongest being in the universe the game takes place in It’s *always* satisfying

I think the one thing that proves almost anyone can eventually beat a soulsborne game, is that people have beaten them with stupid handicaps, like beating DS3 with only Morse code, or using bananas as controllers, or beating the entire series with no damage taken, or beating them blindfolded. Sure, it might take you 60hrs and the other person 3hrs to finish, but as long as you enjoyed most, if not all of those 60hrs, does it matter that it took you longer?

As one of the 10 people that still likes "gimmick" fights from Demon's Souls, literally every boss in ER was a disappointment to me. When you get rid of how different they look visually, you essentially fight them all with the same strategy: learn their roll timings, do one hit, dodge the 14 hit anime cutscene combo, repeat through phase 1 and then their anime power-up leading to phase 2. It was just really boring.

"Fuck Nioh 2" Them's fightin' words boy! Put up your dukes! But in all seriousness, I believe Nioh 2 to be a far more punishing game as someone who has played the dark souls series. I prefer Nioh 2 since you not only make yourself stronger, but eventually make yourself into a god of damage. It doesn't help that some people are blinded by all the new shiny stuff in Elden Ring that they forget important mistakes that From keeps making. Pc launch is riddled with optimization issues that kind of randomly effect what PC specs you have and sometimes weaker PCs run it smoother than end-of-the-line PCs. Keybind issues for the inventory such as lack of keybinds or using the same keybinds to navigate menus as movement causing you to move your character during inventory sweeps, and the fact that the character customization feels like it's stuck in 2014 rather than moving on and being more than puddle deep and not having things mislabeled like how chest size affects only chest height. Coming from someone who play a LOT of games that have good character customization, Nioh 2 is like 10 years ahead of it. Not only can I make a big boobie ninja, but all my options are labeled properly and let me get very crazy with it. even if I'm not that good at it, it gives my good starting points with presets. Then on top of all of that, it let's me share the builds I make via a code that anyone can put in and use to make that character. I used someone's code to have a character that looks like Beidou from Genshin Impact for example. I get that you might not like Nioh 2, but it has done things WAY better than Elden Ring and was release slightly more than a year earlier. Overall, I think both games are good, but can we please stop giving From excuses on messing up simple shit simply because we just got more dark Souls? I'm want to see the game get better at everything, not teach them to get lazy with certain things because I stopped trying to care.

I love exploring this game, but I tried Margit and he felt so annoyingly bullshit that I kinda gave up. I feel like I "did the wrong build" or something, which feels quite bad. idk if that's normal, but it certainly soured the game for me.

People told me I couldn't beat any Souls games. That made me try hard in BB and Nioh 2 and Code Vein.

Personally for me, Elden ring bosses are my least favourite out of the series for me, they feel similar to chalice bosses in bloodborne, you can be up against the easiest stump then suddenly a boss that 2 shots you, except the few main bosses But the level design for the main areas, and a few of the legacy dungeons, is great, you want to climb on ruins and be a archer? Jump that railing to the street below? In the first castle you can jump a gap and skip a good chunk of the level, it feels so souls like in structure but so open

i think that elden rings bosses didnt have enough bullshit, because the player has alot of bullshit too. I dont wanna have to limit myself in what mechanics i use because it would make the game to easy (which definately happened in ER). i wanna have to use everything available to me to win against the bosses

chair only being able to play this and Breath of the wild's open worlds, is a veiled testament to the fact that modern open world design(like from ubisoft) is formulaic and way too handholdy, relying on an overabundance of the map with icons and the oversaturation of the UI with too much info, and yes, recently both devs of horizon AND ubisoft acted like spoiled children and tried to shit on elden ring's popularity saying "it was doing it wrong" or similar.

This man's opinion on open world games is absolutely based. I too, have only been able to have a good time playing BotW. My many attempts at starting Skyrim have ended up in begging for the boredom to stop, and quitting after an hour.

There is two kinds of people who act like darksouls is the hardest shit ever: 1) Insecure fools who completed the game and now want something to feel better about 2) People who decide every game should bend to them, and refuse to do the bare minimum to succeed

This game sucks but sadly everyone is too much of a casual to properly criticize it.

The amount of multiple enemies bosses that are unbalanced for this kind of fight is kinda too high. The mobs in them are aggressive at the same time and becomes pretty difficult to find even an opportunity to get a hit in. The fights that made me mald over over who agrees on this design were the twin gargoyles, the boss of Castle Sol and one cave where the "boss" was 2 knights with the deer horns helmets(sword/shield and spear). And the 2nd fight mentioned above, after dealing with the unnecessary enemies, the boss is actually cool and awesome to fight but its enjoyment is brought down by ads :(

as someone that loves dmc and souls like games, nioh is a wet dream

I have been playing non stop since the release and it’s easily the best souls game experience I’ve had. I love the world, the build possibilities, the enemies, and it just keeps getting better as you level and progress, I’ve put over 70 hours on a character and up to level 130+ in one of the last areas of the game and I can’t wait to try out another build later on. And I also usually get so bored of open world games, I loved the first mirrors Edge so much, the second one just doesn’t do it for me. But something about this game just feels right to run around and explore things

idk why everyone brings up adaptability when they are talking about dark souls 2. you only need to put 20~ levels into it on non magic builds, and on magic builds that number is even lower. This is a far lower stat investment than the game generally demands of say: vigor, endurance, memory, or vitality.

Visually bosses are good . But gameplaywise I find most of them really bad , it's probably the only souls where bosses feels like chore for me ( I've done all souls game even sekiro,BB and demon souls ps3) They were too easy or too frustrating ( go see flurry attacks from Griffith , you can't evade that shit with roll wtf ) Overall it's a good game with some problems who need patch ( I'm not even talking about performance issue )

Elden Ring easy game of the year, easy game of the decade, likely game of the century and on the top 5 for game of the millenium.

I haven’t picked up Elden Ring, but Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time, and I also love the DS series. I enjoy taking my knowledge from From Soft, and tell my team in 14 GG after a dungeon. They think I’m saying good game, secretly I’m telling them - Git Gud 😆

I wanted to try it. I've never played a souls game. I'm out of games, I'm bored, and people are hype about it. I didn't care for it and I got bored quick. The first and loudest comment I got was "Git Gud" and "How did you not know what this was? That's what you get for not doing your research, you filthy casual!" I am a filthy casual. I'm 45. I've raised 2 kids. I have ADHD. My time is valuable. I never said it wasn't cool to like it. I said I didn't care for it... and that's okay! I bought it because I wanted to try it. I didn't find it hard, I just got bored with it. I don't think it's a bad game. I think it wasn't for me. That said though, I'm stuck with it and I will eventually finish it.

This game is so fucking good. The dungeons do get a little repetitive kinda like shrines in breath of the wild but they have enough diversity to make them all interesting in their own way.

I started a Confessor and regret not having tons of FP and HP because focused on str and dex and stamina.

I figured out the two target fight: always kill the “melee” one first because the other one who is often ranged can’t really threaten you that much if you can dodge their attacks. It’s the one that constantly chases you down that is annoying because if you go for the ranged one, then you are in a 1v2 easily since even the ranged target has some close range attack if you approach them.

I feel like this is what DS3 should have been but very glad its new ip this game is fucking fantastic also a pretty good and acurate review

Elden ring is less punishing than the other games: checkpoints everywhere, and a lot of them right before bosses. Plus the horse travel lets you avoid battling. Good point about wanting (or not) to learn patterns and having fun with that. However that doesnt make the game hard. I feel 90% of the game is not hard. Doesnt mean you wont die, but it means that the bosses' patterns and what you need to do is actually easy to learn and understand. This applies even moreso to DS1, boss patterns are extremely basic.

Go ahead and spoil it for me. Are all the characters in the game evil and brainwashed by the tree? I keep seeing dead bodies at the tree roots. Is that supposed to mean the tree is not helping life it's destroying it? Or is it just a cycle of death and rebirth?

14:03 the game actually has about the same amount of weapons as any dark souls game. It's actually a critique point of mine. Old from games used to throw cool gear at you at a great pace, in elden ring you have to put way more game time in to get new stuff. You'll be 30-40 hours into a playthrough & notice your inventory looks kinda empty. Not to mention a good chunk of the weapons are completely copy pasted from older games.
