Not sure if this has been said already, but to make this fight even easier you can summon Blaidd to help you as this boss is part of his questline. Blaidd is south of the Third Church of Marika in the Mistwood Ruins. Upon first visit to those ruins you'll hear a wolf howl, after that, go back to the Church of Elleh, talk to Kale about the howling, then go back and use the emote to call him down and talk to him. From there just go fight this boss and you'll be golden.
I went to south limgrave right at the start and found this guy. Been and always will be my main weapon. Doing a quality build favoring dex so I'm upgrading cool stuff like twinblades and claws. Hoping for the bigass katana Yura has later on. But greatswords + stamina boost are always the ol reliable in souls games
@@korok7523 Shiit I can't remember. Haven't played since release, but if I remember correctly I just upgraded it as I explored naturally. I never went out seeking upgrade materials. I think it used somber stones so I was probably +4 or 3 at most when I fought radahn.
i swear this sword is so good and yet im suprise no one mentions it. Great damage, good bleed and praise the special attack that allows u to black flip a few steps back that would get u out of the attack of the boss, beat half the bosses no struggles with only spamming that move.
You don't need a key for bloodhound. I'd recommend picking up a couple of the early tears to boost your flasks to level 2. You can get them without having to fight a single mob so long as you have your steed. Makes this fight so much easier.
you can easily cheese this dude if you start the quest with some wolf guy in the mistwood outskirts. you gotta show up at midnight and hear the howling in the forest. once you do that, go back to the church Elleh, talk to the npc about the howling, he'll give you an emote to perform under the howling tower. once you do that, you'll befriend the wolf dude. now you can summon him to beat the boss and he'll give you some other stuff too.
Get the sacred lordsworn shield at gate ruins. And bloodhound boss gets stunned everything he hits you. Beat him in no time after struggling for so long
thnx a lot for this , i was 2 handing the golden halberg and losing after depleting his health more than half every time , beat him in 1 try with the shield and longsword
Been using this as a secondary weapon alongside moonveil katana for my int/dex build, super handy for when that magic is resisted, switch to bleed and dodge. Works like a charm so far, mainly int/dex focused and have a few extra points in str just enough to wield this and a little added carry capacity for having 2 swords, staff and shield. Between this and a solid magic weapon/spells (pebble, slicer, rocks) you have something to approach any situation.... as long as you avoid getting hit too much😅 Also having two blades with dex, it's worthwhile upgrading the flail you get early on if you come across slashing resist enemies like the crystalarians for some good old blunt bashing damage when needed (and glorious bleed ofc)
My set up is i have a shield with the Ashe of War "No Skill" so when I hit L2/LT, it does the special skill without having to two hand! (using the Bloodhound's Fang)
The boss is easy to figure out, just wait, hold block, and when he unleashes his flurry of 3 hits and he’ll follow up with his 4th but you have time to do a strong parry attack after his third before his 4th lands, I had enough time to block before his 4th, of course I’m a sword and board atm so I suppose playstyle will vary, but yeah he’s cheese… no need to dodge this and that just let him dance around and wait for that flurry as mentioned
So basically what I did while 2 handing: He has that weird thing to get close to you where he becomes invisible and then leaps 3 times before being right in you, after that he will do 3 attacks all of which I would dodge and then hit him once before he does his 4th leaping attack, which I dodge as well. Then he also has that weird thing where he runs up to you while dragging his claw through the floor, I would dodge him as he runs up and because I rolled to the right his second swing would not hit me even if I didn't roll, allowing me to get another hit in. This is pretty much how I killed him
Just a helpful tip for any newer players to the series that do this boss lower level. SPEAR. Trust me, a Spear makes this fight so so so much easier, especially the ashes of war that should be on a spear that the basic enemies early in the game drop.
@@mobilemetal4554 if you make sure to level appropriately the game starts to get much easier in general, especially with that Bloodhound Fang weapon art and R2 ability. Got to the point I was killing a lot of bosses in like 4 hits untouched lol. I feel you though, I definitely am not very good but I absolutely love it anyway.
1-shotting adversaries with the sword art provides some of the best moments I've had in a souls game. I think as it gets later in the game it gets even better as a PvP weapon and dips slightly in pve, but its nonetheless my favorite weapon so far
@@nic0s200 1. Go to Mistwood Ruins, hear howling 2. Go to merchant at Church of Elleh, learn gesture 3. Do gesture at Mistwood Ruins when you hear howling 4. Find Blaidd somewhere on the west side of the ruins.
Really weird that no one is mentioning this sword, its so good, imo better than greatsword and stuff. Any ideas what other weapons to transition to after this? Kind of doubting if i should invest more sombers
I'm at +5 ~40 dex or so and it destroys. Imo I'm going full dive into sombers for this wpn and investing normal stones into stuff I just think is cool or unique
Beat the game using this as my primary weapon. Scales well for a quality build and the move set is effective for a simple to use weapon. Also the fact that it is upgraded with somber smithing stones is a big deal, it’s easier to max it.
I found homie by accident, beat him on I think my 3rd try. I went samurai for the Uchi (it was one of my top 3 DS1 weapons, I always use it or the Claymore until I get the stats for the Zweihander) and I had the Uchi to +5. The base stats at + nothing were BARELY lower than my +5 Uchi, with 10 higher bleed, and I was shocked tbh. I started using it and have it at +5 right now, and holy fuck it's nutty. I LOVE Bloodhounds Finesse, it does so much damage while also getting you in and back out of danger. Overall it's my favorite weapon I have found Aesthetics wise, and my favorite I've used by far
@@kevinvolchok14 I just got into Lyndell Royal Capitol and my first move was to get a smithing stone 7, then I went and snagged an 8 real quick, and I already had a 9 somehow, so now mine is +9. I took a break right after upgrading so I havent used it yet, but im pretty excited to go back and try a couple of the bosses I was having issues with. If you plan on sticking with it to endgame i would recommend speccing a bit more into dex than strength, at I believe +8 the dex scaling goes from C to B, while strength stays at C. Be sure to get some stamina as well, I made the mistake of speccing almost entirely into dex and strength until about 40, so I was only able to get 3 light attacks and one dodge in my stam bar at the time, which ended up fucking me over a good bit until I leveled stam a few times
You forgot to show that the weapon art has 2 moves. If you press L2 for the weapon art, and then R2 as the animation is finishing, you will do the usual backstep slash but then follow it up with a superspeed forward dash and slash. It's insanely good, hits like a truck too. Combine with blood grease and this thing tears through bosses and players.
@@RayRiv73 Kinda, he works like a normal enemy in Volcano Manor so every time you rest, he’ll spawn again but you can skip him unless you wanna get the claws.
Everytime I get tired of playing the game I go to watch some RU-vid but end up finding videos like these which only makes me want to play some more. I absolutely love that moveset, I've slept on this weapon for too long
This weapon is amazing. Im a noob and never played this series before. I got this weapon with Blaid help. And i beat Godric in my first try using the bloodhound finesse. This is really good weapon
Here are the basics: 1) Double hand your sword (E + Basic attack) 2) Press the "skill" button (same button to parry if you had a Shield). The "skill" button will do the revoling swing from down to up. 3) immediately after the "skill" do the "Long Attack" (the attack that takes a few secs to build up).. Too bad most videos just show the player using it without explaining what "combinations" to use. E.g. Special fireball = "right, Right, jump and short punch" in mortal combat type games. This is the part that is NOT mentioned in the game controls.
I literally just started playing soulslike games, picked wretch and ended up with this guy as the first boss I fought. Hard for me but I ended up prevailing after about half an hour of trying. God the weapon has been really great and fun to use
If you want an easy fight just explore for the first 4 hours of the game and once you have a good build with a good weapon and good armor you should be able to beat him first try. This is what I did and I beat him first try.
Shield for blocks, two hand when you're comfortable on getting heavy hits ( heavy hits has slight windup ). I personally one hand it, with an off-hand weapon as well.
I’m getting back into playing again with the DLC and I’ve forgotten almost everything. How do I throw the shield on my back to 2hand the sword again? Also on PS5
Listen bud. Another guy made a video of this and it’s less then 2 mins. Idk what ur doing but imma assume it’s a lot of yip yap blah blah crap instead the point. Don’t mean to be rude
Sorry for such a noob question. If this is a str/dex weapon where should I put the level? If I level up this weapon with dex it gives me 4 attack power versus str. Only giving me 2 attack power.
I'm early game (just beat Margit) and I managed to get my hands on this weapon and wanted to see if it was good. turns out, I guess I'm putting some runes into strenght to wield it.
Instead of fighting the boss alone you can go to the mistwood ruins and hear a howl then go talk to kale and go back. Emote and talk to blaidd and he will help you in the fight if you summon him
can i complete Blaidd's quest if i already killed this dude? I killed him before i even found mistwood ruins now i'm bummed out. i'm only level 20 so i'm considering restarting.
I beat this boss first try. Get a shield with 100 physical resist, block his 3 hit melee attack pattern, get ONE hit in. Not two. Back off, let stamina regen, do it again. I barely took any dmg. Play defensive, dont get greedy. One hit at a time and reset.
I just realized you can't swap ashes on this sword, i can't swap on any of my curved greats words. That's a huge negative for me. I like to experiment and being stuck with bleed and the original moveset kinda sucks. I'm sure it's a very fun weapon but I guess I'll stick with my duel Godskin peelers for now.
There is an easy ay to kill this boss, i'll give you a clue. FINGER SNAP, if you have this gesture before you attempt the boss then a certain wolf is more than happy you help you since this boss is the man he asked you to help hi find when you first talked to him.
It's very good, especially the special move. It lets you dodge and follow up with a heavy strike. We get to do the same BS the enemies do, and they have no counter. This weapon allowed me to get through the Leyndell city even with all the armored enemies.
General question, I did play ds in the past, but still out of Reflex I am always blocking instead of dodging, is just dodging the way to go or has snyone some tips when to dodge or block
Yeah can actualy get this weapon way sooner if you activate blaids qestline. You can summon him for the blood hound fight and you can just watch him kill it
For some reason bloody slash fucks him up I did two bloody slashes and two heavy Jump attacks and killed him also if you talk to the wolf guy first you can summon him once you start the fight
This was the first weapon I got from a boss that I actually used, spent ages fighting that boss just to get it. And I have to use that radagon talisman just to use it :/
I wonder if this would be any good for a Dex/Fai build... Good moveset/movement option, and I believe you can slap Sacred Order on it; unless my understanding of things is way off, this should allow points in Fai to boost damage even more. If that's the case, then... I dunno lol. Winged Scythe I know scales with Fai, but its moveset seems kinda meh. I don't have a lot of time in the game, maybe I'll find something else that works too.
Im doing a dex/fth with this weapon and it's been great so far. Have been using incantations as more of an add on than buffing cause I still can't use Sacred Order (need to invest some int too). But man this thing's a beast, the weapon art is crazy good. It's +4 now (I'm just entering Liurnia) and it absolutely smacked Godrick.
I’m aiming to Beat the whole game with The Bloodhound Fang since I’m horrible at dodging and avoiding Attacks because of the step with the power move L2 .
elden ring is my first souls game and i already made the mistake to sell alot of weapons and gear... like this weapon... is there a way to get it another time?
I'm new to soul's games I love this sword! I know I need somber stones to upgrade but I've hit a wall. My sword is 3+ and I have somber stones however I canr upgrade it at the blacksmith at the round table.......I want this sword juiced up as much as possible. What am I missing?
