Your theory on Radahn being an animal lover is actually correct, sort of. An early version of the long tailed cat talisman had the description mention that Radahn had a pet cat that he adopted as a kitten that he loved very much. So yeah, it's basically cannon. Some would call it a head cannon but they are stupid, since it's way funnier if big warlord Radahn was the kid of guy to cuddle with a cat after braiding his horse's mane. Also in the game files Radahn is named "radahnandleonard" which means his horse is named Leonard, which only further proves this animal lover theory

It’s interesting how similar Ranni is to Loki. Godwyn is described exactly like Baldr in Norse mythology. Both of their deaths heralded the beginning of the end for those in power. Ranni’s motivation, like Loki’s, doesn’t seem to be to end the world, just the current order and age. They both go about it in treacherous ways, including killing the most loved god/demigod. I wonder if Ranni had any particular resentment for Godwyn, or if she merely saw him as the easiest victim to cause the greatest disruption.

I like to imagine that all giants used to have faces on their chests, but had them surgically removed as part of their enslavement. The Fire Giant is just, like, what Giants are supposed to look like, and all the others have been horrifically scarred.

The Black-Knife Assassins didn't steal the Rune of Death. They stole a piece of the Rune of Death and imbued their knives with it so it could actually kill the Gods.

You left out the mythical “bang Marika’s body in the tree” cutscene that I got the other night. It was the real canon ending imo.

the elden beast isnt the embodiment of the greater will, it's a vassal, eg like a duke or the cosmic horror equivalent. the greater will probably has a bunch of elden beasts colonizing other worlds as well though the game doesn't give us any information on that

Everyone has different interpretations of Elden Ring's story, but I think it really comes together if you view it as a cautionary tale about the suffering brought about by giving authority to someone with the non-dominant ginger gene

i think one important detail would be that Ranni's whole story can be interpreted as seeing god cause noah's flood due to his dissatisfaction with humanity and coming to the conclusion of "what if i could reduce god's direct influence on the world?". she saw killing her brother as a necessary evil in order to instigate her plan as she couldn't act on her own due to having a two-finger assigned to her and plan was generally postponed due to Rahdan going insane. her goal (based on the official dialogue) was simple to remove the order's physical presence from the world thus rendering it more a concept that governs the world rather than a physical thing tied to everything

The smaller scarlet flower outside her boss room is possibly from one of the Millicent-like rotbabies who traveled there. You can loot a regular-looking set of light clothing from it that looks like the one Millicent is wearing

About why Marika killed the giants: She sent Godfrey to kill them all because the giant fire pot posed a threat to the Erdtree and since the fire in there is not able to be put out, she left one giant alive to "tend" to the flame, essentially damning him to try to put out a untamable flame.

My guy, I respect your boundless courage for picking a fight with Malenia's simp army. Anyway some lore considerations for you. Marika picked a fight with the giants because their fire is the only thing that can burn the erdtree. The stormlord isn't placidusax. That goofball's been sleeping since before Marika was a thing. As for who it is, one possible candidate is the stormhawk king, the chaddest of Hawks that no one outside of Nepheli Loux can control. Why can Nepheli control him? Because she's the descendant of Hoarah Loux aka Godfrey, and as the descendant of the Chad who bested him, the stormhawk king became a stormhawk simp for her. Marika apparently still has plans for Godfrey after turning him tarnished, apparently she wants him to get even stronger so he can kill the Elden beast. Which is why she forced him to leave and go fight more wars. Evidence being, in one of the graces, Melina tells us that once the tarnished are killed, Marika will give grace back to them. The rune of death and destined death is actually the same thing, Enia the boomer tells that to us. The tarnished not dying to the rune is probably because Marika is watching over us, it's why we can't die in the game. And as Maliketh's boss, she probably had some executive control over the rune too. There's also a whole tangent about how the rune used to belong to another empyrean, the gloam eyed queen and her godskin bois, before Maliketh robbed her. So was this act of robbing what they meant by sealing the rune of death? Some theories say that Melina is the gloam eyed queen, which.... Is actually plausible. Have fun with that theory And one last thing. Celebrated director and feet Conniseur Michael Zaki put the bewitching branch in the game for whatever reason. And the description says that Miquella has the ability to charm people. Coincidence?! I think not! And because it's GRRM and Miyazaki writing the story, It's entirely possible that Miquella charmed Mohg. And if that's the case, was it an accident or deliberate? Anyway, just some food for thought. My thought about the giants, which we see several with their torsos kinda concave and looking hollow, is that they used to also have faces on their chests as a connection to their god. After the war, the surviving giants had their faces removed to remove the connection between them and their god.

I think Ranni is really interesting because her goals are almost certainly in the right, but her methods are questionable. First off, the golden order pretty clearly removes free will from the lands between. It also doesn’t really seem to care about causing great suffering if it is necessary to maintain its control. This makes Ranni’s goals of destroying the order at any cost pretty reasonable. Despite this, there’s a lot to criticize. First, she chose to kill Godwyn as her rune of death substitute, which caused chaos since he was a ruling figure across the lands between. Maybe she needed to kill a demigod for the ritual to work, but it may also have just been hatred for the golden order and she chose to kill a main figure to weaken it (or both). Unfortunately that had massive shockwaves, to be fair Marika shattering the elden ring was probably not planned for but still mostly Ranni’s fault. Honestly even with all that I’d still say it’s mostly moral, but there’s one major problem. It didn’t really work. All that was for one step of the plan and Ranni got knocked straight back to square one in a weaker body. I think she originally planned to kill Godwyn and somehow usurp Marika in the chaos caused by a scramble for power. The problem was that the elden ring was shattered so Ranni didn’t have a way to directly achieve godhood anymore. Maybe her plan could have worked and instantly brought about the age of stars but the actual results were catastrophic. Any sense of order was destroyed and the destruction of the elden ring caused endless war. Worst of all, Ranni didn’t even have an easy way to make her plan work anymore. She just becomes another faction hoping to gain power and she’s not even the strongest one. Ranni needs you to free her from her injured form and even then she can’t actually succeed on her own. She need the player to repair the elden ring to bring about the age of stars. This could be wrong, maybe she did have a master plan and didn’t need much outside help. I mean the crew she built does seem quite strong and Ranni has some crazy powers up her sleeve, but her success is certainly not guaranteed. This creates a problem since Ranni is running on an “ends justify the means” philosophy but the ends are not guaranteed. That just leaves a path of destruction in her wake and a hope for a better future. Understandable certainly, but also probably pretty unethical.

Millicent does say during her quest that in short she wants to return the pride Malenia left while fighting Radahn so even the game agrees that Malenia is a bad person for doing what she did to Radahn and Calied lmao

I hope miquella is a ally in the dlc instead of an enemy he seems way cooler than his sister as he’s supposed to be wise and super chill 👍

I've watched this a couple times now, I love your humor so much Miquella is an interesting character. One of his major goals was to find a way to cure his sister's scarlet rot curse, and he eventually found a way to subdue the symptoms and slow the effects through unalloyed gold. That's why you give Millicent the golden needle in her quest. Most of the soldiers in the Haligtree are adorning some sort of unalloyed gold as well. Another one of his curses/powers is he is very attractive/seductive(?)/appealing to people. This is why all the soldiers are willing to literally blow up for him (those dang footsoldiers), and why Mohg is so infatuated with him. It doesn't excuse all the nasty shit he does to him in any way, but it explains why he even kidnapped Miquella in the first place. Love the vids! Can't wait for the next one

i know that Ranni isnt actually as bad as people or the game make her out to be, because she actually has mistranslated dialogue implying that she is trying to bring in an age of suffering, when in reality, she’s supposed to say that she wants to start an age where she holds the darkness and suffering back from the world

Actually that was Radagon who kicked the absolute crap out of the Giants. Since he killed their Fell God. That also is the reason why the remaining giants cursed him with red hair when he used to have golden blonde like how Marika has, which also explains why Radagon hates the color red. So Marika cursed the giants (the few that remained even though we only fight 1 but I’m gonna guess there was some that remained after the war) with forever tending the flame of their fell god (which I doubt that is a bad thing since they probably did that?)

Miquella isn't dead, just sleeping. Mohg was using his blood (which is why miquella bleeds him out) to try to make miquella a God, but he wasn't reacting to it. Although, it is said that miquella can mind control, even in his cocoon, so it is possible that the whole mohg thing is miquella's idea

I don’t think it was all Ranni’s fault. Her only intention afaik was to kill herself so she doesn’t become an empyrean, but it was Marika (who was associated with the Black Knives) that ordered the death of Godwyn to betray the Greater Will (framing Ranni in the process, who she knew stole part of the death rune). This is why Marika was imprisoned, and the reason she exiled Hoarah Loux beforehand is so he could come back stronger to retake the lands between from the Greater Will.

Malenia didn't invade to get the great rune (If she was she would have killed Godrick too) she was looking for her brother who is on a secret underground island, but she thought Radahn took him. They also fought to stalemate and used the flower attack out of desperation to save his brother.
