In Ranni's Ending, at least in English translation. I believe she is taking either the collective rather than that of the individual. 1.Collective Will a. groups ability to impose upon the individual. b. ability to "collect" or come together under an unified idea, belief, or goal 2. Individual Will a. ability to command forward progress to the conclusion of an idea, belief, or goal

Godwyn is still there though. The deathroot curse is a problem that is not solved by Ranni's ending. Her ending also assumes that you *trust* Ranni and her plan. Which is kind of stupid. It's worthy of Patrick Star. "Let's just push it somewhere else!'

@@BAEHELPJAYDO The Elden Ring taken far from the world, it prevents anyone from messing with the laws of reality anymore. Which is potentially very good! Ranni's plan prevents the Greater Will from meddling ever again. The Outer Gods influence has lasting effects, however. Even if cut off from them, many of them still have a physical presence in the Lands Between. The Rot most notable among them. That stuff isn't just gonna vanish. Godwyn, meanwhile is not an Outer God. At least not as we know them. Outer Gods exist in other dimensions/somewhere out in deep space. He died in soul but not in body. He's still very present in the Lands Between in a way Outer Gods are not and I don't think he's going anywhere. His entire existence sets up a sequel for Elden Ring, really. To be fair, no ending addresses Godwyn except for Fia's, which doesn't so much solve the problem as try to turn the problem into a solution.

From the bits and pieces of lore about Miquella, he had a hand in almost everything and trying to find a way to solve it. I have to wonder if the fire we use to burn the Erdtree reaches deep enough to burn the Prince of Death away--or if we might need to use some kind of second cleansing flame, maybe infused with the Rune of Destined Death, to truly purge him from The Lands Between? Although it might be too naive to assume that a full purge is even possible at this stage.
@Farron6
@Farron6 Год назад
It's hinted that the Erdtree is itself grafted on to the root system underneath it. This is related to the crucible and the previous "Great Tree" which fed on it. The cleansing fire clears the tree and allows the root to re sprout

I've always looked at the Souls games as being in Purgatory. We seem to be trapped in worlds that aren't quite right. Something feels off. It seems these worlds are a place of constant turmoil that we must repeatedly throw ourselves at to enlighten ourselves. Above and below are unreachable, almost as if we're on a stage. Nothing seems fully tangible, things just seem to be, like being in a dream, when you become aware you're dreaming the whole thing falls apart. We don't have need to eat or sleep. Our enemies are endless. All we have is seemingly endless time to figure out what's going on. I like that in Elden Ring the area is referred to "The Lands Between", as if to say between the world of the living and the plane of the gods. Though it is implied that we are just in one area of a world, I have never actually felt that anything exists outside of the play areas on the same plane. The Souls series even makes it clear that you could actually be in the same place in every game, just at vastly different eras, long after the previous game's world has crumbled and been rebuilt in a new age by new civilizations. I found an area in the Siofra River that looks a lot like the bridge area in DS1 where you have to jump under to find the merchant, near the hub. After playing these games, you start seeing truth that maybe we are in the same place, and it the remains of the previous civilizations are like fossils buried beneath your feet.

Yep. In theory, the rune of perfected order could solve all the conflicts involving both those forces too, as it would prevent either of them from gaining the power required to completely overtake the lands between. (I don't even really think that's the goal of Malenia or Godwyn though, both of them seem to be suffering because of Marika's influence. Godwyn is treated like a horrible misbegotten curse, rather than being welcomed as a new god, the first of the dead. And Malenia just wants to live through the cycle of rot and rebirth. I doubt the goddess of rot really desires anything other than to see the world experience that cycle of death and rebirth, which... I mean, isn't that what Marika directly stopped, by removing the rune of death from the Elden Ring?

Maybe the Greater Will had like a ‘contest’ between Empyrean and powerful beings to see who would rule with it. Seems like Marika won and then she set the rules which was no destined death whilst gloam eyed queen believed in destined death. The aeonia flower near Malenia’s arena is also one of Malenia’s blooms. It’s said that the scarlet rot within her will bloom three times and she will ascend to becoming a god. The first was in Radahn’s fight and the last in our fight which turned her into the goddess of rot, so the second bloom must’ve been the one in that side room.
@NecroxTheGamer01
@NecroxTheGamer01 Год назад
I think it's most likely the blooming of one of Malenia's offshoots, that is to say, one of Millicent sisters. When Malenia bloomed for the first time, several aspects of her mind were separated from her, and ended up landing in the swamp of aeonia, where the fanatics of rot found and raised them. That is the origin of Millicent and her sisters I think the blooming in that room is a safeguard that the developers left there in case some other part of the game expansion needs to use one of the blooms sometime in the future. When playing the game we witness 3 blooms, one when fighting Malenia, one when finishing Millicent quest and the one you just "randomly" find in that room

@NecroxTheGamer01
@NecroxTheGamer01 Год назад
@@dennismadrid5146 Yes, it's exactly as you say, and that’s a good idea for the sequel. Gowry says something along the lines of an eternal cycle of rot and rebirth so maybe, getting rid of Malenia and her “daughters” is nigh impossible. The fanatics of rot wanted to bring a new order of rot to the lands between, but Malenia disowned them, she despised them. Malenia was searching for a cure for her condition along with Miquella. The fanatics of rot idealize scarlet rot, Malenia sees it as a disease... It is a bit confusing, but we saw all the way back in the trailer how Malenia broke her needle when fighting Radahn, so that she could bloom, and when you return (the corrupt, repaired by Gowry) needle to her, it becomes the true Miquella needle… Maybe the Malenia we fight is under the influence of the scarlet rot outer god, and she is not in full use of her mental faculties, because she lost them when she first bloomed (and those offshoots became her daughters). Maybe that is the reason she didn’t go to Mogh and kicked his ass for kidnapping her brother… ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WcyE9ba7xrE.html&ab_channel=HonoredMadman watch this video and pay attention to what Millicent says at the minute 15:30

Becoming Elden Lord gives you access to the Elden Ring, makes you Marika's consort and allows you to change whatever you want on the level of reality itself, just as Marika removed death from her world. You as a tarnished can only be a consort for an empyrean, but with Marika being just an empty husk, I guess you can "edit" the Elden Ring as you want to and effectively destroy any opposers who may challenge you or solve any problems already present in the lands between. You gain unrivaled power and sorcerer Sellen herself tells you that when you are Elden Lord, she will be your student, because all the secrets of life will be open for you. So yeah, I think we, the player, can use our imagination to decide what happens or does not happen after the ending, but there is nothing the new Elden Lord can't fix with the power of the Elden Ring

_Here's How You Can Save The World_ 1. You make greater Will's presence stronger in Goldmask's age of order. which increases your power as the Elden Lord . 2. Seal destined death once more. But keep it in a blade for yourself: your new signature weapon. Master hewg is still smithing.. use him. 3. You put Nepheli in charge of limgrave who's oath bound to serve you. She has a castle. An army. People & resources. Take her help. She also has a crucible knight. Take direct command of some soldiers and rebrand them in new Leyndell knights. 4. Do not give ranni finger slayer blade. She's a threat to your rule. So keep it to yourself. Let blaid stay imprisoned. 5. As the Lord.. liberate the crucible knight imprisoned in limgrave. If he doesn't serve you.. kill him. 6. take your 2 new crucible knights & soldiers to venture down leyndel. Offer the omen born freedom in exchange for life long service in the military. 7. Venture to Redmane castle in caelid . You're the champion of the radahn festival & the new Elden lord. Demand their loyalty to the New golden order . Redmane knights are some of the finest warriors in the continent & loyal. Radahn loved the golden order so use that sense of loyalty . 8. Search for villages .. still functioning. Start rebuilding . Start rebuilding Leyndell. Install waygates to every important castle. Station Soldiers to monitor the death blight situation. Keep the rot at bay with fire. 9. Start research on the litany of proper death incantation. 10. Rule.. help people rebuild their lives. Let people heal, prosper & re establish their selfs. Let the omen breed to increase their numbers. Keep them away from education. You need their brute strength. Not Int or wis. You have plenty of time... let your Royal army grow to pre shattering level. 12. Invade Ranni's domain. Blood the region with omens . Lead the charge with destined death in hand. Find her. Kill her. 13. Invade deep root depths and burn the corpse with Godslaying flames or destined death. 14. Marry Rodrika because ..hey she's beautiful and you need a queen & she's a kind woman. 15. Live forever

I might add: 1. Put Sellen in charge of Liurnia as the returned governess of the Academy. Do not tell her whereabouts of Lusat so she stays in human form and give her loyal bodyguards that protect her from Ranni and Carian loyalists that once before imprisoned her. And as Sellen said, teach her the secrets that course in the Elden Ring to bring greater understanding of the universe's metaphysics to formal academia. It should benefit everyone. Also, rebuild Academy Gate Town and turn Rays Lucaria to teach non-magic people formal education. Those magic puppets sorcerers have could become free labour to work the fields for you! So you need to prepare for post-scarcity world. 2. Put Boc in charge of Gelmir, there are demi-humans already living in there normally and region could be given to them entirely. Though I wonder if Demi-human society accepts a male ruler. 3. Roderika is good choice for Queen, so no complaints there. 4. Ranni is a difficult problem, however. She cannot be killed as a pure spirit, and will always scheme against you from the shadows. She can easily avoid capture, even should you manage to destroy her doll body. You would need to consult Roderika to how to contain or mitigate her risks. Furthermore, Black Knife assassins are still around, serve they her or not. You have to protect your own people and allies from them. Nokron and Nokstella must be confronted for their crimes. Either peace treaty, or war. 5. Malenia might or might not still be around. 6. Godwyn has to be dealt with permanently. Finger-slaying Blade might not be enough to kill what is dead. I propose spearing Godwyn through with Miquella's needle. Employ both Gowry and Sellen, and other geniuses of Lands Between to study Miquella's Needles for this purpose. 7. If Gowry is around, he is still trying to prepare ground for the Order of Rot. That would imply Malenia will be reborn some day from her flower. Prepare for that eventuality. 8. Rennala might be too far gone, and knowledge that her children are dead might drive her crazy. But as a morally upstanding Elden Lord you still should think a way to snap her back into reality, heal her or either end her misery for good.

Or... you can give her the great rune of rebirth to protect her from _herself_ . Nudge her into researching what benefits the new golden order. 2. Raya lucaria: yes, Definitely ensure more students get into the academy. Install secret waygates with stonesword key to inner raya lucaria. Rebuild the bridge & open trades between the regions. 3. Ranni: She's difficult. Whether destined death works or not... there's one thing in Golden order that has never failed. Law of regression. It can counter even _destined death_ . Goldmask is dead... so this makes sellen even more important than she already is. For black knives: Make the entire new leyndell light up with sentry's torch day & night. But that might take time & resources.. so until then.. Rodrika & hewg must get one available Crucible knight sworn to protect them. Another one For Sellen. All will carry a sentry's torch. 4. Malenia/Miquella/Mohg all three have one solution. Personal strength. Halgitree can't regain it's lost army. You can. So their individual strength is the true threat. As i said before... use hewg to fashion a new blade That can use the full power of destined death. Become your own Maliketh.. don't trust anyone with it. 5. Godwyn : Miquella's needle Stops outer God's influence. It probably disrupts their connection to the lands between. For example Two fingers needed centuries to communicate with the GW. So it's not going to be useful against godwyn . I can only hope Some combination of destined death, law of regression & Finger slayer blade can stop it. For the time being.. research & observation are the only real solution. 6. Boc : as much as i like boc.. he's a seamster that won't leave his Lord's side. He's no leader. The great serpent is another problem. 7. Mount Gelmir: I have a solution. Invite Great Horned Tragoth, Old Knight Istavan & older Hoslow brother . Return to them the guidance of grace. And give them the serpent hunter. Install them as guards to watch over the volcano manor. 8. Rennala: Destined death. Unless law of regression can heal her mind.. i see no other solution. The poor woman did nothing wrong.. she doesn't deserve to suffer any longer. 10. Lastly & most importantly: destined death must be sealed into your new weapon. Because if it isn't.. if it remains unbound then the Godslaying apostles & the nobles will regain their red black flames. They will come for you even if one them survives.

I mean we aren't glued to the throne when we sit on it. I find it rather funny that you suggest killing the god of rot or Godwynn would stall or thwart the spread of their influence, considering both are heavily tied to themes of death, rebirth and continuing past death. Hell, the centipedal mark on all of those who live in death is even a direct callback to the immortal centipede infestation from Sekiro. How can you kill that which defies death? And if there's any lesson to be learned in Elden Ring, it's that the act of killing doesn't bring about change. It only galvinzes those who back those causes. You effectively make martyrs out of those you seek to destroy. Collecting their power is also fruitless, as in the cycles of Elden Ring, it seems you are destined to die and give those hard-earned runes away, just the same as Marika. Perhaps that was her goal all along? To die, and be freed from the station of the one above all, in an attempt to break the Elder One's influence. (Though ironically, it seems as if there is no escaping the Elder One's influence, as the player who inevitably defeats Marika and becomes an Elden Lord finds out. Whoever becomes Elden Lord just gets to be a beacon of the philosophy they followed for a short while, before their rule is corroded and supplanted in time.

When referencing Faraam Azula & the other various places/areas in which the people/creature's within all "LIVE IN DEATH" , if you look closely at the "Elden Ring" symbol (as seen in the video) you'll notice that at its centerpiece, lies a "Symbol", more specifically a "Rune" that, when looked at in isolation, seems to be the Rune of Death. Which honestly would make sense when you consider the Rune of death is essentially the exact opposite of Marikas Symbol/ the symbol representing the Erdtree &life. In conclusion... the areas in the lands between that are "Pro" Marika/abide by the "beliefs" of the erdtree and what it said to represent, all contain the symbol of Marika golden order/ of the Erdtree,the Elden Ring symbol featured on the face of the game...while the areas that persist to live in death,all bare the Elden Ring symbol hosting the Rune of death as its centerpiece

You do realize that Ranni's name means female thief in old Norse? She just stole metaphysical laws to govern the world for her own benefit and abandoned the world. Her entire arc is a heist movie, where she, the main antagonist, manages to get what she wants. You become puppet's puppet, enforcer to enact her dark will. Ranni's entire quest is to realize she will betray anyone to free herself alone. Everyone else she kills, betrays or enslaves. It is telling that she never "frees" anyone in her questline, she just has them killed to tie up loose ends. She has her servants kill Iji and Blaidd to betray "everyone and everything." And to remove all ties to her past. She shirks responsibility, abandoning both Caria and Leyndell of Golden Order. Her scheming led to Godwyn's death and undead epidemic. Lands Between are now bereft of sunlight, infected by Deathroot, and Ranni took away only means people can actually prevent or influence their lives. Star like lifeforms can assail the planet, and nobody can stop the flux of these lovecraftian monstrosities. Ranni's Dark Moon is sinister Outer God of loneliness and leaden coldness, and Ranni is herself no less sinister entity. Entire world has to be betrayed, and plunged into loneliness and cold, do she can be free to do what she wants. Who frees herself alone and enslaves in doing so others? A tyrant.

While I don't inherently disagree with anything said here, we have to consider that taking on Lordship isn't very well-defined. Supposedly all former Lords of the land have championed the Greater Will, so we really don't know what championing another Outer God does. It's entirely possible, knowing how the Greater Will basically changed the laws of reality for the Lands Between with the Elden Ring, that the moment we champion another God and put it on a pedestal that the new rules they want to impose on the land simply wipes out all the stuff it doesn't want around anymore like Godwyn's corruption or the Scarlet Rot. Things like that may have simply existed because the Greater Will didn't give a shit due to it still getting what it wants anyways (having more followers than the other gods and gettin' all that lovely soul-juice being recycled through the tree roots). Standard Lovecraftian God behavior, basically. Maybe the expansion will delve into this some more, but it seems like with most of Fromsoft games the ending is slightly ambiguous and you're supposed to just take it at face value (in the case of Elden Ring, that being your status as Elden Lord and the Land's new god being able to enact actual change on a reality level).
@JackStigma

The frenzied flame can't do anything unless somebody inherits it and if someone does, the tarnished that's became elden lord would probably stop him. Also the tarnished becomes basically a god after inheriting the elden ring, so if Malenia is rebord he should have no problem keeping her away too. Even after Mohg's death, the formless mother might still have a connection with Miquella, leaving that up for the DLC. The dragon god probably has no plans to return since it just left on it's own. The Godwyn situation is dire as I don't think there is a way to stop him. It was shown that the power of the golden order counters those who live in death. So with the elden ring, maybe the tarnished can cleanse the Lands Between from Godwyn's influence or since the rune of death has been restored, maybe the tarnished can kill his body too. The gloam-eyed queen is probably Melina as many people theorize. If so, she's burned anyway. If Rykard is rebord he can probably be defeated again and then banished away from the Lands Between before he gets reborn again.

Ranni's ending abolishes the Golden Order and replaces it with an order based on the wisdom of the moon, which not only tells us nothing about the proceeding future but also doesn't stave off the influence of the Outer Gods. Goldmask's ending prevents the Golden Order from being altered ever again, but that's all. It doesn't stave off the Outer Gods or prevent people from becoming zombified due to old age, and it condemns and encourages the persecution of anyone who exists outside the Order (Albinaurics, Misbegotten, spirits and skeletons). And the other three basic endings are trash, so... Burn the Erdtree to the ground, and incinerate all that divides and distinguishes. MAY CHAOS! TAKE!! THE WOOOORLD!!!

I actually thing the basic ending is rather good, heres why. From what we know the Erdtree is all about life and death and the cycle of it, just like our world. The Greater Will does not care who is lord or what order the world is in only that there is an order shown by how Placidusax was an Elden Lord at some stage. Marika is the reason the world is in shit due to removing the rune of death. If you restore the elden ring with death intact then the deathroot spread stops as it is part of the rune of death. Yes frenzied flame and scarlot rot are an issue still but i really dont think that ending is bad and after watching Smoughtowns video on the Greater Will i really dont think its bad for the land at all and it was all Marikas actions that caused the Shattering and the deathroot spread. Think about it if Marika didnt do what she did the Gloam Eyed Queen wouldnt try to rise up to return Destined Death, the Shattering and the war wouldnt have happened which means Caelid wouldnt be covered in Rot. Rykard would still be an issue though.

Possible hot take, but I don't believe the moons are outer gods. Every power of an outer god in the game that the player can use requires faith in some form; blood flame, fire incantations, thorn sorceries, etc. But the moons and primeval current use intelligence. They are more forces of power to be understood and used, while each outer god has its own will and vision. The dark moon does not wish to have its own age. Ranni and the Nox have their own ages that they wish to use the dark moon to bring about. Another thing I want to touch on is the state of the outer gods and Godwyn after Ranni's ending. Presumably, Ranni rids the world of all powers and orders that came before, meaning no golden order, and maybe even no memory of that order. Firstly, with no golden order, that would mean Godwyn gets a good ending. He's no longer stuck in the glitch of the golden order and can finally die a true death. Secondly, Ranni states that in her world, faith will be an impossibility. This could mean that the outer gods cannot impose their will on the world. They can't reveal themselves to mortals or choose an embodiment of their will, such as Mohg or Melania. I think Ranni's dark moon, because of how her ending erases the trace of all outer gods, is not a god itself but a powerful neutral force of nature.

You spouting a bit of nonsense. The carians almost rivaled the golden order and the moons literally appear to who they want to follow them obviously showing they want their power used in the world. The difference between stars and moons compared to other outer entities is that they don't focus on death rot, blood, and madness all want the entire world under their power and to basically destroy it. While the moons are fine with taking their destiny to the stars away from the other orders

Elden Ring is cool, but it's missing something. I just don't feel connected to it like I did Dark/Demon Souls or Bloodborne. I think it ahould have been more of it's own thing. Being yet another game with the same formula makes it feel tired. I hope Armored Core doesn't have the same problems.
