Meeting with reporters in Lima, Peru and in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles discussed efforts to help migrants in the region.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has provided more than US$ 1.6 million to help 40,000 migrants by working closely with the Seventh-day Adventist relief agency, ADRA. These funds will provide hygiene kits, water, emotional support and financial education and training.
Nahomy Faubla Cevallos, director of ADRA Ecuador, said, “I believe that this collaboration allows us to serve. Service is the reflection of love in action, and we both believe that God is love.”
