A three-time Academy Award nominee, Eleanor Parker was a stunning talent and dedicated actress. But she was also dedicated to her family, as we’ll see in this video. We go over the ways in which Eleanor decided to put her family first, and how it resulted in some serious career repercussions. Eleanor’s fierce independence actually started at an early age, as she refused not one but two offers for screen tests for potential contracts with major Hollywood studios.
At the time, she decided she wasn’t ready yet, and wanted to finish her education as well as get enough acting training to feel prepared for life as a working actor. But those decisions paid off, as she ultimately signed with Warner Bros. and had an excellent first part of her career with them. But she showed her independence while with Warner as well, resisting roles they tried to attach her to, and even refusing to shoot abroad soon after her first child was born.
Warner attempted to penalize her with contract suspensions, and even by promising her a film that they never intended to make. As such, she left Warner and had a lucrative stint with MGM. Parker was always an incredibly beautiful woman, and as such, she tempted men throughout her career. She was married 4 times overall and was an iconic actress who wowed audiences and critics throughout.
