No. He's a great speaker. And he often submits entire speeches for editing/rework. But rarely does he give a major speech exclusively written by himself. He hired a top flite team of writers across both terms, and even to this day, to help him create his speeches. He's an amazing man, one I wish was still our president. But not that amazing (hired joke writers to join his team for this speech and several others thru the campaign year).

Winston Churchill wrote his great speeches entirely by himself. But no American president of the 20th century matched his greatness or oratory.

Obama was more multi-dimensional (vs. Churchill's highly dramatic oratory) - he could speak at the level of many audiences. But only Churchill was so greatly tested. On oratory alone, Obama was his match if not his superior. But overall, Churchill pulls ahead. Of course, IMO.

I do think that Obama had much more input in his speeches as president, and was more on top of the detail than many other US presidents, but he also had very talented speech writers (whom he publicly acknowledged). Churchill was under more pressure (though Obama had more than his fair share), but wrote all the major speeches himself, sometimes against advice he received. When he flew to the US and gave a dramatic speech which was brilliant, the US president asked how on earth he managed to get someone to write that on the plane to the US. The response the US president received was "no - he rolls his own", meaning that he writes his own speeches and wrote that one himself as well. But that does not diminish presidents who had help - Churchill was rather unique. On the oratory, Churchill's voice did not help, Obama was brilliant.... but also don't forget that the way speeches were delivered, and what sounded normal and statesmanlike, was different in the 1930s and 1940s as compared to now. in any event, don;'t get me wrong, I love Obama and always have.
