Maybe so, but I think it more important that we find levels where we can find agreement, or just share a joke, or love of music. Too often we get tied up on a single subject and frankly become bores, when there is so much to us. How else did the "Chuckle Brothers", Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness help diffuse The Troubles in Northern Ireland and reach agreements on power sharing? I think we should all remember how multifaceted we are, and seek common ground wherever possible to achieve compromise, or if not, to at least accept difference in people, and rub along.

@@MauriatOttolink I think the article which appeared in the Daily Mail, which showed extracts from ex-wife Jane Chapman suggested that Jezza was a Trotskyite Communist, and his idea of a dinner date was cold Tesco baked beans (not even from the Co-op) from a tin, and siging IRA songs, after a night out on the beer! So I agree with you entirely. He and his buddies wouldn't be much fun round a dinner table, or in any conversational situation for that matter. I'm minded of Labour Minister, Sir Stafford Cripps who bored Stalin to sleep in a mission to Moscow after WWII. www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6686535/amp/Cold-Tesco-baked-beans-sitting-floor-singing-IRA-songs.html

You are right. Politically I absolutely loathe Farage and all he stands for-but Rachel is right, as a person you can’t help but like him-which in many ways is what makes him so dangerous politically. I adore Rachel, she is the perfect person to talk with him as she absolutely disarms him and gets him to talk without making him defensive. Shame she has such a twit for a brother.
@MauriatOttolink
@MauriatOttolink 5 лет назад
@@lilylolly8757 Farage is equally disarming. Why do you find the same thing politically dangerous in someone whose views you oppose yet charming when you approve of them politically? Peers Corbyn ("Who? I hear you say!) is a World Leading Climate scientist who has (amongst many other REAL scientists) proved the Climate Project Fear to be a political hoax. He has also conclusively disproved the alleged man-made aspect of Climate Change. It's a shame that he's got a dangerous world class twit for a brother. Boris doesn't have a twit for a sister. That doesn't make him a Twit. If we didn't have to vote for our politicians but did a Dangerous Twit count amongst the parties we'd still have the same govt. in power. It wouldn't be a landslide but we'd be left in no doubt!

you literally couldn't be more wrong in your assertions. Rachel Johnson is conflating two different types of democracy, Direct and Representational. In the main we are governed by representational democracy, i.e. each MP 'represents' us. Rarely we switch to direct democracy and the people directly instruct the government on a specific question, i.e a referendum. The idea being that the electorate answer a question directly and government acts on the outcome. In the case of the Leave/Remain referendum, the Remainer's not happy with the result have decided to blur the lines by slyly using representational democracy. They are fudging the two types together. In a true democracy it's either one or the other, they don't mix!

Was it me or didn't she have a clue as to why she wanted to stay in the EU? She epitomises well what Churchill quipped, "five minutes alone with the average, British electorate is enough to put anyone off of democracy". The woman could not articulate any kind of coherent argument for staying in. She doesn't even know why she joined the Libdems and has a vague feeling that might be a mistake. Good grief, she's a blundering disaster. Edit: Russell Brand would have been a much better choice. Bipolar opposites

I feel so bad for Nigel, all the damn hate he's been targeted with all these years. And the guy is trying to do a good thing for this country and all these nasty liberal thicko's are out to stop it at any cost. He's a GREAT man. And how he's not been the PM of GB is an utter travesty IMO.

He may say some things that people disagree with, but I think he is genuinely a nice guy deep down, and he got involved in politics because he loves his country. I agree with you, it is sad to imagine people shouting at him and trying to assault him in the streets.

If it helps, I feel like she does. I like what we had. So much to lose and nothing to gain. I don't want to be in a recession again or poorer, even if only for 5-10 years and that is inevitable if we leave the free-trading block and isolate ourselves. I simply don't see what we'd gain. 🤷‍♀️ We have sovereignty (it's an illusion that we don't) and control 99% of our budget. We also control immigration from outside the EU, whilst our economy needs immigration from within the EU - no UK govt would ever curb it. There are matters like air pollution, tax evasion, environmental management and crime that require international cooperation and what of poor Northern Ireland - are we to screw them over once again? The UK has benefited from EU legislation that protects citizen's rights and health. Unless I had pots of money I wanted to squirrel away in, I dunno, a unregulated, uncertain fiscal system I cannot see why we would want to leave.

@@lewisistic ... I'm sorry, but I don't want to see Yannopolous anywhere. He has made disgusting remarks relative to pedophilia. He should be denied any public forum of any kind, for the rest of his life. That stated AOC with any number of people would be a 'must watch' event.
@lewisistic
@lewisistic 5 лет назад
Frank Hoffman You do realise that there are children who were raped and when they were interviewed some of them liked it? I was totally shocked. It’s Milo’s experience. Would you say then the children normalised pedophilia? Nope they didn’t they were victims and so was Milo. Just because you don’t like someone’s opinions/views doesn’t mean they should be denied a product/service. The article about the children was one I had read three years ago which made me be skeptical about Milo’s controversy.

@@lewisistic ... If I knew who you are, I would put you on the same list as Yannopolous. NAMBLA-style justifications for pedophilia disqualify anyone who speaks them. You don't take as gospel the opinions of traumatized kids.
@frankhoffman3566
@frankhoffman3566 5 лет назад
@ThePatUltra ...I admit to intolerance on anything pedophilia. I've seen too many adults who carry that trauma around with them DECADES AND DECADES into adulthood. I've heard enough pedophiles disgustingly claim they are doing the children a favor - which is, in essence, what Yannopolous claimed. I think he believes it and only apologized because his speaking gigs were drying up. I don't sense an ounce of honesty in him and believe he still has a predator's glance toward underage boys. I'm not apologizing. Give him not one minute of broadcast time. Let him get a job deburring plastic pipe fittings in a factory somewhere. I hope to never hear from him again.
