Seems like this election, incumbency proved to be extremely powerful as incumbents of both parties largely did well and pretty much all the seats that changed hands were open

It was an extremely close one. Projection house 225-210R and Senate 50-50 as Republicans took it as referendum on Biden and Democrats on Dobbs decision. Also a feature is that incumbency proved to be very powerful today as pretty much all flips were open seats

@@thomasgrabkowski8283 yep. Last year in Virginia, education was at the top of mind for voters because the CRT nonsense gop was pushing. This time around inflation and abortion were both equally important, based on the exit polls I’ve seen. Some interesting moments last night, Nebraska voted for minimum wage, many of the abortion referendums are in favor of the pro choice side, gop made in roads in NY and with Latinos in Miami-Dade, but Democrats outperformed Biden’s margin in some of Pennsylvania’s red counties with Fetterman. Also candidate quality clearly matters because Kemp improved his margins compared to 4 years ago, while Hershel is underperforming Trump in some of the red counties. Democrats were able to hold on to most of their seats and didn’t get demolished as I thought they would.

@@reannagordon2 Well if Dobbs hadn’t happened, I would bet that Republicans would be way more successful today with around 240 house seats and 53 senate seats as well as the governor elections in Kansas, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico and even potentially New York and probably even more if Republicans didn’t nominate unpopular candidate in a lot of key races

I understand Florida because the state party has been incompetent for decades, especially when it comes to the governor races. No real Democrat in 2022 would be that excited for Charlie Crist the same way they were excited to vote for Josh Shapiro and John Fetterman in Pennsylvania. Is this the best candidate Florida Dems could recruit? Lmao!Andrew Gillum didn’t underperform like this. Crist did so much worse than Biden, and he’s a former governor. Another Terry McAuliffe perhaps?

Pa, fetterman is leading by 0.5 percent and keeps on gaining. Democrats seem to be pulling the same.
