Great mod! I've got a couple of these mics branded as Johnson for my old CB radios. Haven't tried them in years. If the elements are bad, now i have a way to mod them. 73!

Hi Rick, great video…. So is there simply no way to use a stock older Astatic D-104 or a Turner+3 mic on the FT710 without modifications?

@@RicksHamShack thanks, another great video. I was actually hoping for help to understand the pin wiring setup for a turner +3 and D104 (T-UG8 version) to FT710. I think I’ve exhausted every possible wire combination but the mics won’t even key up leave alone modulate. I tried the electronic and relay switch setting too. Seems it’s only the following pins needing connection but both mics are 4 wire. YAESU pin 3 Ground YAESU pin 4 Mic Audio YAESU pin 6 PTT

@@leosgolf Do you have a DVOM? If so, check for continuity between PTT and ground when keying the mic.

I do and it looks ok ... I have now successfully wired a Turner+ 3 to work but the D104 is still not cooperating. The mic 100% works on another radio.
