New electric buses started operating on London bus route 63 in December 2021, when this video was filmed in January/February 2022, a couple of diesel buses were still in service and some driver training was taking place on the route.
I have an affection with the 63, having ridden it many times, as my daughter and son-in-law used to live close to Dunstan’s Road, the penultimate stop at the Honor Oak end. I made a request for you to cover this route and its new buses and now I feel fulfilled because you answered my request. Thank you very much.
I can only think of a couple of other places that this happens, the 214 turns in North Hill in Highgate Village, they had to order short (10.2m) BYD/AD electric buses for this route, there is also Manor House, the 279 (from Waltham Cross - formerly trolleybus route 679) does a U turn in Seven Sisters Road just before the junction with Green Lane, in trolleybus days the 623 from Walthamstow turned here by doing a U turn in the road. When I saw the U turn in Honor Oak it reminded me of the trolleybus terminus outside Liverpool Street station, the 557 and 649 routes did a U turn in Bishopsgate, I don't think that they could do that today.
