Electric Cooktop: The double burner is not working. How to diagnose and repair.
Replacement infinite switch (part number 8203534 ): amzn.to/2PxftJR
Voltmeter to test circuit continuity and resistance: amzn.to/2Dj256h
Part number 8203534 is the new switch model number. My old switch that failed was part number 3188516.
The switch was labeled TUDP 406, 12A 240VAC . The new switch indicated it was 15 amps. Higher amp rating on the new switch is okay, FYI.

Thank you!! I was so upset when the element tested good. If it weren’t for this video, I wouldn’t have attempted to work with the infinite switch. Seemed like no power. Tested a second one to confirm that one worked. Ordered as well as OEM knobs. I put it together and I have 4 working burners. The broken one was a dual that was out of order since we bought the house. Thanks again!!

Must always disconnect wires on the element when Ohm testing could pick up reading from the other element wires it shares. also would not recommend ordering electrical parts from Amazon, better guarantee from supply house. Great job overall!!

In normal situation, the power switch ( or switches) are the problem. There are moving parts inside those switches, therefore the reliability of power switch is not as good as the heating elements or just the pure metal wire.

DIY Technician did not test the new part in case it was a bad part delivered. It happens when ordering from a parts supplier or other. In this case he got lucky.
