Just want to say THANK YOU! I used your video and followed it exactly and was able to build mine over the past 2 days with no woodworking experience at all. Just need to add MDF board, paint, and do mantle but the frame is done! Great job!
I like my tv’s up higher too. When i hit the recliner, my head follows. If you’re capable of sitting in a straight position looking straight ahead, you’re probably not sore from a hard days work lol😂
Thank you very much. I decided to do this myself because we were quoted over $2000 from a contractor…. That was a family friend !! If you have any question feel free to hit me up.
Hi, great job! I'm looking to install one of these in my living room area, but concerned about shared breaker in the power panel; if running the heater. Are you running the heater function and if so, is it on a dedicated breaker from the other outlets? Thanks.
I LOVE IT! GOOD JOB! ... but I suggest to lower down the TV a bit, that gap in-between doesn't look good tho. And you're tilting your eyes/head while watching.
I really like the way you did this, I'll be doing the same in a week or two except I'll be facing it with tongue and groove boards. Will that be an issue with the heat generated?
In my opinion it will be fine. I’ve seen a lot of videos of people doing the tongue and groove, it’s very popular. Good luck on Your project Thanks for your feedback
Great video! Going to be starting this project soon. How big was the TV? I noticed you opted for the 50 inch fireplace so I assume the TV must be 65 or 75 inch? I have a 65 inch TV but im looking at maybe just having a 42 inch fireplace since the space is small (basement). What are your thoughts?
Thank you. We were watching the price on Amazon and picked it up when it dropped down to around $200 for a promotion. Here is the link. Thanks again a.co/d/7Yk5qD7
One of the outlets is exclusively for the fireplace. The other outlet has a fused extension cord running through the wall and mounted to the back of the television. If I need to get to the outlets I will need to remove the fireplace, which isn’t difficult.
Thanks for watching. I initially was going to use corner brackets but opted to cut the drywall as flush as I could to the wall and use paintable caulking to seal the gap. It looks great and haven’t had any cracking or issues.
Hi thanks for the video im going to do this myself and bought everything. Can you please advise every tool you used and how long are the 2x4 on the bottom and on the sides. The shorter pieces. The tool im referring too is the two blue tools that helped level where the mantel is
Thanks for watching. The tools I used are as follows : blue painters tape, 3’ level, impact driver , drill , saw, oscillating saw, and painting supplies. For the depth of the fireplace I wanted it 6” from the wall in total. Hope this helps. Good luck with your build
@Stratoliner5 - I'm not criticizing at all. It's a great install, and I fully support those that DIY. I think this turned out amazing! I hope these folks create many amazing memories with it. That said, I have built one as well, but went with a 60" Napoleon unit. I simply offer up my 2 cents that's probably worth nothing.
Thank you. We kept it raw initially, but ended up stained the top a classic grey wash to match the floor. I should have done a video on staining the top 😬
I came back through and finished the base boards. I wasn’t sure if we wanted to keep the same style or change to a different look. The tv high works well for our application. Thanks for watching and the subscription.
Great job and video!!!!!!!! but your killing my brain with the TV not being level.....Mine was like that and had to take everything off and fix.... I'm weird I guess.
a.co/d/7XKSyng I didn’t have any blueprints, just a rough sketch for the area. I will be doing another one in the master bedroom soon, I will have prints for that one. Thanks for watching.
Were the 2x4s treated or untreated? They look untreated but my husband builds luxury chicken coops we have a ton of treated 2x4s outside in our stock pile that he’s already cut and I’m itching for a project 😂
@@C_L_STEVENSON Thank you! I was going to grab untreated but I’m impatient which is why I asked 😂 Though I’d rather not have treated wood inside my house.
I thought about that. I’m sure it could be built free standing with some type of anchor inside to keep the until from tipping over. Would probably need some trim installed around where the wall and unit meet to hide any gaps.
