I’m so glad to experience this reaction with you guys. Having a flashback to 45 years ago with ELO. Bought a very cheap pair of headphones (which was basically a piece of wire with sponges on each end) Ha ha. Anyway, I listened to their album over and over. You all are in for a special experience.ENJOY!🎶🎶💕🦋
Disco was an incredible part of late 70's early 80's music. Most that don't appreciate it are those who can't branch out from their normal buffet of Rock. Some real good tunes came out of it.
Alot of Disco haters were only exposed to the Pop stuff like the Bee Gees or Village People. There were tons of great Disco/Funk tunes in the club & underground scene.
Woah...............since when did ELO become Disco music ? yikes. Donna Summer, KC and Stayin' alive. ? just because you can dance to it , doesn't make it Disco....:) JMHO
You could spend days taking a deep dive into Jeff Lynne/ELO. Thank you!! Do Ya, Mr. Blue Sky, Can't Get It Out of My Head, and Showdown are great. ELO's Showdown was a favorite song of John Lennon. Lennon remarked that ELO were the "Sons of the Beatles". Ringo Starr and George Harrison made frequent guest appearances on ELO albums.
The Rock fans accepted ELO as legitimate rock at the time. Only in hindsight is it super poppy. That said, Jeff Lynne was in Travelling Wilburys so he was rock again:)
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0zuRQc-AE9M.html. ..Across the Border., from Out of the blue. This song proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jeff Lynn is indeed a musical genous. Guys; this song was either not released or was buried in the radio stations. I guarantee you that this song will blow you away. The pace, the transitions, the melodies , and special effects are absolute FIRE ! Rockaria form a new world record was just as great. You gotta hear them both
Guys going to see them in all places Milwaukee with my youngest daughter (16!) who looooves ELO! Road trip to Milwaukee in April. BTW Australian that lives in Canada. Love that my 16 year old loves ELO 👍👍😳🤪. Love your guys reactions. It’s lovely to see other people enjoying music … I don’t know it just brings joy to me. Keep it going 👍❤️
You know that Jeff Lynne produced Paul Mcartney's last few albums as well as George Harrison . . . . he and George Harrison were together in the Travelling Wilburys . . . . don't discount the Beatles connections!
The bands of this time inspired a LOT of kids to learn classical instruments..............."FIRE ON HIGH" is a moral imperative!!! Sadly, nobody plays instruments, anymore. It's all digital...........(sad face)
Thee MOST important thing to know about this song? It was playing at the end of Boogie Nights when Dirk Diggler revealed his penis! Yes, to this song! 😂 That is hilarious! 👍
The 'bull coming out' comment actually made me laugh out loud. I've been thinking the same thing for decades. Great reaction, guys. I've loved ELO since the early '70's. Good to see your generation appreciating them also.
Good! Need to hear Mr. Blue sky by elo such a creative & cool song. Makes you 😊 Becoming one of my favorite 70's songs. Other stuff of theirs good too.
Mr Blue Sky next please! It was shown to scientifically be the happiest song ever, look it up, lol! In the opening scene of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Automatically puts you in a good mood.
Telephone Line is my favorite ELO song, for what it's worth. But you should check it out yourself if you haven't already. It was used in Billy Madison to some degree.
Same here! As a Gen Xer, ELO was/is one of my fave bands of all time! I am always mesmerized by their music! I had a HUGE crush on Jeff Lynne growing up! lol Anyways, I'm a couple months new to these guys as reactors, and they are already one of my top Reactor channels! They are so fun to watch! 🥰🥰🥰 I'm not sure if they've done these already, but I'd love for them to react to “10538 Overture”, "Xanadu"(with Olivia Newton-John), "Telephone Line" and "Last Train To London".
Some facts about Jeff Lynne (ELO)...First, he is a very humble man, simply because this Music Genius is not interested in fame, the limelight, and money, he just loves to create great music. Jeff Lynne is one of the most versatile musicians ever, this is why he is considered by his peers to be among the greatest. He didn't stick to one style of music because, after decades, it gets boring. Jeff has done progressive Rock, Symphonic Rock - Pop, New wave, and Disco. Everything he does turns to gold. He even flirted with Country music. From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years) Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other group in the world... 51 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas, festivals and Stadiums. During Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 Tour, many reviews agreed in saying they are the best live Classic Rock Band in the world still touring and Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius( From Forbes Magazine and the Washington Post). ELO is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Songwriter award ( ASCAP ) in 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. In October of 2020, Jeff Lynne has been made an officer of The Order Of The British Empire for his extraordinary contribution to music. He previously has received three Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate songwriters and composers, including the award for outstanding services to British music. He created the best Super Group of all time with his best friend George Harrison, The Traveling Wilburys. The Legends in the Music Industry call Jeff Lynne the best overall Musician ever and a Producer Extraordinaire. Jeff Lynne has written and produced many hit songs for music legends like George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Del Shannon, the Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and so many others...
Views, gents, as Rick just brought up, and an appropriate time because of Jeff Lynne, please take a look at The Traveling Wilburys. You can do their 2 biggest hits, End of the Line and Handle with Care. You won't be disappointed!
The TV ad for this album when it was first release was a track and field athlete throwing a disk, which was the LP with the song playing in the background. When it hit the ground two track offices ran to it pull a measuring line and announced that it was a new world record from ELO.
I totally agree at 12:48. ELO was NOT a Beatles knock-off band. I'm familiar with the Beatles (not a fan), and never understood the comparison. ELO has a sound that's much fuller and far more orchestral than anything the Beatles did, and their background vocal arrangements are far more complex. ELO is really it's own thing the way it integrates the orchestra into traditional pop music instruments. No other group sounds like that. The instant you hear them, you know exactly who it is. Nick is right. ELO has a very distinct sound and identity separate from the Beatles.
Okay, time to really get into ELO! Eldorado start to finish the album! Great. If I had to pick my favorite song, Boy Blue or Can’t get it out of my head. ❤ Enjoy!
Possibly the happiest song in the world: ELO's Mr. Blue Sky. Possibly the saddest (after Al Stewart's "Bedsitter Images") song in the world: ELO's "Telephone Line."
