The lightning 218 is not really known which is a shame since its an amazing bike.Just Winning Pike Peak should say how good it is.Its probably better than bikes coming out in 2020.

I bought a lighting motorcycle and i absolutely love it

$8000 is the price of a battery for my buddies zero electric motorcycle. One of his employees some how screwed up charging the battery on the zero. Either he forgot to hook up the power to the charger, or he forgot to hook the charger up to the battery, but the battery voltage dropped way down, and for some reason, once they go down so low, they can never recover. My buddy called the factory, called battery manufacturers, talked to the charger company, He searched the Internet for answers on blogs,he tried everything for over a month, he decided to just part out the zero motorcycle rather than put a new battery in it. The motorcycle is out of warranty I did some basic math. At 50 miles per gallon on a gasoline engine motorcycle. You could travel 160,000 miles on $2.50 a gallon gasoline for $8000. And you don’t have to plug in a gasoline engine motorcycle into a charger.. another consideration is, The cost of the electricity needed to recharge the battery in an electric vehicle over its lifespan. In my experience, batteries not in electric cars or motorcycles, but in RC cars, as the batteries get older, their performance declines noticeably. They do not perform as new all the way up and to the point that they do not take a charge anymore. You can tell the battery is dying well in advance as performance and length of charging time change as the battery ages. My sons have competed in RC car racing for many years, and I know from them, that a new battery is a new battery, and an old battery does not perform like a new battery in an electric vehicle. I will admit that a motorcycle with a gasoline engine will also show that it’s getting tired as it ages. But you can rebuild a gasoline engine. Both electric and gasoline powered vehicles have their positive and negative considerations. No pun intended. It’s just that when I get on my gas powered motorcycle on a Saturday or a Sunday morning. It’s not uncommon for me to do a 500 mile day with other riders... both of my street bikes have enough fuel capacity to do 200+ miles on one tank of fuel. But once I get above 150 miles on a tank of fuel since the last fill up, I keep an eye out for a gas station. That would be a problem with an electric motorcycle. I can do a fill up on my gas engine motorcycles in under five minutes. I don’t even take off my helmet or gloves doing a fill up most of the time.With a electric motorcycle. I could run out of gasoline completely with my gas powered motorcycle, and borrow some gas from a farmer or someone cutting their grass, and be on my way, but I don’t know if I could borrow some electricity for my electric motorcycle and be on my way at all. I would probably need a place to crash out for a few hours waiting for the battery to charge, No pun intended. You may not be a semi-long distance motorcycle rider, and you may justify buying an electric motorcycle for that reason. But if you have an electric motorcycle, long-distance rides will be completely out of the question.. A gasoline engine motorcycle can do both..

I think price will be a limiting factor for many! It amazes me how this technology has not been utilised before now, I imagine pricing and batteries have played a major part in this.

This was filmed late 2017? But Mission died ages ago. Wish they were still around, though. As for the battery dying on the 218, it is very dependent on HOW you release power. You know this, right?

I'm a big E-: Motorcycle fan definitely going to buy an E- Motorcycle been wanting to get one for a while but even the used ones are kinda pricey but definitely gonna buy one just as soon as the prices come down ...one more thing I would like to see a CHOPPER style E-Motorcycle.....

That would be the only Harley I would ever buy. Not that Harley's are bad bikes I just don't like the V-twin engines. They are all nice bikes and hopefully they will come down in price very soon.

I am wondering, is it really feeling OK to not having a clutch? I understand, when you want engine breaking - regenerative braking comes as equals. But what when you just want to coast down to the intersection? Isn't it jerky to feel the middle of acceleration versus regenerative breaking? What if you had a pseudoclutch lever, which just electrically disconnects all electromotive devices? I have to say, I do not like automatic transmissions on cars as well, that could make a better picture of my worries :D Although, I do not worry about no sound, I have had people come to my MC asking if it was electric due to low sound, haha.

I'm not too happy with Harley's approach. The bike looks good but other than that, to bring an under-performing bike as a demo to the public to ask them what they want is just not a good idea. Do your own work and research. Look at the best selling electrics out there and make something better at the same price or less. Simple.

well of crouse you can't just take that bike and win all races, purely because there are REGULATIONS :)) for any race, starting from the Club Racing ending at MOTOGP :) lol. 38k is quite a lot, 14k is acceptable.

Well nothing beats the Sweds gost riders hayabusa with a turbo pushing over 400 horses! And the sound is great!!! And having a clutch where you can have the amount of torque you want when you want it... F electric motor bike crap!
