Be worth it to get yourself a good isolated pedal board like a gig rig. Powers everything, signal is improved quite a bit and you have switches that you program to control all your pedals including presets in the pedals. Its an investment but pays off big time and helps take care of your pedals as well. Just a suggestion. Setting mine up for trombone currently

What a great video a lot of talking you showed all of your pedals disappointed you did not play the instrument and sample the pedals

Hi Bert, check out my channel man, I've got loads of videos that show off these pedals in action! I recommend starting with this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EoWW1Q7zI1o.html

John, love your videos. I am just at the beginning of my electric trumpet journey and I can see it is a vast, challenging, inviting landscape indeed. Can you do or do you have a basics video on establishing and maintaining signal integrity from mic to a guitar amp? I have heard that putting your effects in the PA loop is the better way to go ... seems like what you are doing here via the powered mixer. However for home practice I do not have my own PA and I plan to use my trumpet effects through a guitar amp so that I can practice all week. I have a basic shotgun mic and a line of three or four pedals ... a wah, an octave, delay and a looper. I also have a basic pre amp that seems to be necessary to even get my mic signal to reach the amp ... however with the preamp I still don't seem to be getting great tones/effect sounds out of my amp ... a lot of warbling, octive pedal struggles to track, etc. ... but then again it might just be the fact that it's a small 4 wat amp that can't keep up with what I'm trying to do. any advice?

John Manganaro thanks for your comment and welcome to the world of playing with effects! I have another video called inputting into a pedalboard which may answer some of your questions. I actually play through a bass amp because guitar amps tend to be very cutting in their tone and are intended to feed back. That said, whatever works best for you is what's best. As for the pedals themselves, trial and error is the name of the game for a horn player. Not all octave pedals will track the horn well; I recommend the Boss OC-2 (not the OC3), although there are other greats out there. Head over to Reddit.com/r/ElectricTrumpet/ and post your questions and comments there, it'll help get more players invloved in answering them! Good luck & have fun :)

Love it when RU-vidrs are quick with their replies ... very interesting to hear you would use a base amp ... that occurred to me as well pretty much immediately after I started ... I was wondering whether my little 4w Vox Guitar amp would serve my trumpet well and the answer is no haha ... anyway, Kudos as well on the Microcosmologist website, very cool idea and I dig where you're coming from about exploring new worlds and ideas.

*update ... during my practice session today my brand new board totally died out ... turns out after a little investigation that I had a dead 9volt in the octave pedal ... changed that out and now it sounds great .... I can still tell the guitar amp isn't exactly well suited but it's miles better now. always check your batteries!
