It’s refreshing seeing a green guy be serious about being an electrician. That’s becoming more rare. At my job 90% of apprentices don’t make it even a year.
@@andrewhguitarI moved from Washington state to Texas. I went backwards in my career. Got my journeyman license in 2016 in WA and I have to start as a first year apprentice even though I went through trade school already. They won’t accept my hours even though Washington is a stricter state for licensing. You don’t even have to go to school in texas. It’s annoying
The only tools a rookie electrician needs is a lineman’s pliers, electrical tape, AC power detector, and a flat and Phillips screwdriver. 😁 Electrical work is some of the cleanest easiest work I’ve done unless I was in a dirt crawl space or a 200 degree attic in the Summer. I’m a handyman.
my personal recommended tool list for year 1 commercial electrical apprentices : multi screwdriver, impact driver with some bits, linemans, dikes/side cutters , hammer , beater screwdriver . 9/16 wrench/socket . and then a portable bandsaw when you get the $. I understand brotha , it is a wonderful trade
I actually prefer the Rounded knee pads over the flat ones. I do another of tile and concrete work, and with the flat styled ones you fall off of them alot because it gets hung up and doesn't just drag along as you move around. But I'm also on them for atleast 7 hours a day.
Watching the packouts go up 6 floors is so funny. I have my drills and 'bits' in 2 packout boxes to carry together. Veto pro pack tech pac rucksack and a TB4 pouch. SDS gets. I've smashed so many bags and boxes with wheels I decided to go and the all road option
the packout just sits there chained to the gang box now. I use the Milwaukee bag that came with my bandsaw and a husky pouch for my everyday stuff and if I ever need something else I go to the packout to get it. id like to get a veto, at the other job sites I wouldn't trust my stuff to not get stolen with one. but where I'm at now it'd be nice to have. just been good enough with what im using I haven't spent the $200 or whatever bucks
Good stuff man. Its good that you've gone ahead and bought good quality tools because that says you're committed to the trade. 31 years in the electrical trade for me and I love what I do.
Hey man nice set up. It's funny how people give you shit for your tools being so prestine and in perfect condition but like you just started when this video came out. Screw them. 6 yrs in this trade and very impressed on your loadout. Wasn't anywhere close to this when I first started. I strongly suggest a veto pro pac tool bag. I love mine and wouldn't look back on getting it. Yes they are pricy but it's totally worth it. You take care of your tools your tools take care of you. Keep up the good work man. If you want I'll show you my set up to give you and suggestions on what else to get
Thanks you man. Yea it is funny people are stupid , the other thing too is it depends on the job site I was doing a Data center when I filmed that and it’s so clean there’s no way for the tools to even get dirty. I subscribed I would absolutely watch your set up let me know what you’re working on too
@@andrewhguitar hey man cool will make a video and post it.nor if u want snapchat works too lol not trying to be thay werid guy hahaha. We r doing an Amazon up here in Buffalo NY. Been one wild ass job man
@@wnysparky1516 oh shit my little brother lives there that’s cool. I only got RU-vid homie and a face book. I’ve heard amazons are pretty fun , you’re doing a warehouse?
Ya we r lol. Right on lake Erie. And that's fucking nice man thats a really small world like seriously hahaha. It's a 55 acre facility all warehouse alot of underground like 90,000 ft of 4 inch pvc and I think close to 50 or 60,000 ft of 6 in. At 20ft long sticks. Big shit hahaha. I will definitely make one so you can see what I have. Definitely love the packout system tho
As a first year apprentice, seeing all these tools excites me because I’ve gotten to learn so much in 6 months I can’t picture myself doing anything else but electrical work. I’ve been buying a tool a hand tool a week, hopefully when I top out I’ll have a similar armament to yours!!
Great set up sir. As a professional do you actually see a huge difference in the Hyper Tough performance of the bag and socket set compared to higher end tools? Other than the apparent brand loyalty from others.
@@unfoldingcactus33 maybe if it's next to a bunch of Milwaukee stuff and there is no room left to steal yours lol other then that someone will know there's money in there...Don't cheap out
All I seen was clean tools and no tool belt and I cringed when he said I had to borrow a couple times .if you gotta borrow something more than once it goes on you’re list of shit you need
I got some on Amazon a few weeks ago for like 30 bucks called Carib Gear pro I think is the brand. They are great it’s got the thigh strap too so they don’t slide around at all
Starting commercial tomorrow. Ive done residential for a year now. Just want to grow as a electrician and learn more. Nice setup. Ive got some more tool shopping to do.
That is what I wanna get next, but the company I work for is pretty good on bandsaws there’s hardly a time I need one and there isn’t one available. So I haven’t pulled the trigger on buying it yet
You can use the nose of a lineman's to rip off the end of zip ties, just twirl the pliers in a circle and it rips off the excess. Keeps the edge cleaner, no sharp edge for the next guy putting their hands in that place. Learned that from my instructor who said he learned it from a master of 30 years. 👍
Yea I do now. I didn’t back then, no one at that site wears them it’s not really necessary more just wheel your box over to your station cause you’re gonna be there for a while
They ever tried to steal your pack out ? I’ve had some encounters with drywall getting close as hell to my pack out in where It looked like they tried to steal something lol
not that I know of thankfully. last October before I got the packout I had a little tool bag and I was out with covid for like a week and someone jacked my Klein precision screwdriver set. I'm doing a high rise now and my packout is hiding on the 18th floor electrical room I just carry my belt bag for the most part so I haven't had to worry
@@johnabner7743 nice, nah. I used to work for switch electric which was all data centers and now I'm at bergelectric. Im in Arizona and the people I've talked to say our union isn't that strong out here. granted, those were all non-union people. personally I'm not opposed to checking it out. but I'm still able to learn new stuff here so im satisfied with where I'm at for right now
I’ve borrowed those and they’re awesome. If mine ever broke id replace them with that but I got lucky with my pair , they fall open and close so smoothly straight out of the packaging. It feels too good I wouldn’t replace them as is
@@andrewhguitar This is the best boot conditioner if you want them to last. All-Natural Formula used for over 100 yrs. My dad showed it to me as a kid.-->Huberds Shoe Grease--> www.amazon.com/stores/HuberdShoeGreaseCompany/HuberdShoeGreaseCompany/page/1BB987BA-D1A1-42BB-AA4B-01CA29E278EA
Hey buddy I have a question. So I’m currently an aprentice electrician and I wanna know if I can make above 6 figures in the Houston area? I know you may not know, but it’s between electrical engineering or master electrician I just cannot decide. Nice setup by the way !
