My sparky (electrician) charges out at $90 nzd an hour but will charge at 15 min intervals like a lawyer lol. This is helpful because i can consult withh him to do the pre wiring myself, and he just connects it up and certifies it. So if i want to dig the trench...he comes charges for the checking time, if i want his advice on routing...same thing.

Hi Sam, I only heard, that there is actually a big colony of german speakers in South Africa. I am from Austria and I want since some time get some experience in another country, far away from europe. So to be a little bit more specific, I know the requirements of Australia to get a recognition of my austrian trade as a wiremen, but on top of that it sounds actually not that hopeless as you talked about it at the end of the video. Very useful btw. So what would you say, is Australia, or you New Zealander more strict with oversea tradesmen? NZ has a half of the population of austria, and even in austria, it is not easy to get a job that fits good for you? Maybe NZ has a potential for immigration?

@kuka721 I'm think both NZ and AUS have equally strict standards. I have a feeling you will adapt quickly though, coming from Austria. There is demand for trademen here, so I'm sure everyone will eventually find work that fits them. Perhaps NZ is a good option for you then. Glad you found my video useful. Good luck with your decision.

Hi Sam. I'm from Sri Lanka. I'm a refinery electrician.I had passed the EWRB asssesment and looking forward to obtain the limited licence but in every job ad (seek, indeed etc) they ask about the work rights for NZ😔. Why don't they offer visa sponsorship for overseas applicants? Even general electrician role in the green list. I cant get any kind of visa without a job offer. I'm so frustrated. Why EWRB let do the assessment for overseas applicants? I feel some kind of discrimination in this regard. Please give some advice.

Hi. It is a difficult process. I can relate. But companies don't really give sponsorships. The best advice is to hire an immigration attorney to assist with this complicated process. Everyone who immigrates uses one. Hope it works out.

Hi. First you need an immigration advisor to help with the entire immigration process. Then register with the EWRB. When you get employed you will get a limited license. On that it will list what all you need for the full license. Good luck.

You will need to do more hours with the NZ company. 500 hours min. Maybe up to 4000 hours. And do more practical Course work. And do regulations, which they call Regz.
