The problem with the cyber attack theory is the control systems on these ships are "old school" and cannot be manipulated remotely.

Right. The lights out and subsequent restoration of lights was reported before. By time power was restored, it was too late to correct their heading or stop.

This is just a preliminary report - which happened to state the obvious. Now the question is to figure out why the electrical issues happened and if they were related to the earlier crew member mistakes.

I never heard em say it was a short, just that a breaker tripped.

@@ProbablyStonedComments and the only thing that would keep a breaker from being able to reset is its either a bad breaker or there's a short circuit.

@@Forte89 Or if it gets overheated… maybe a loose termination. Maybe wire, from constant movement due to vibration, frayed and became too thin to carry the load?

@@ukmedicfrcsthat if the electricity malfunctioned they wouldn’t have any control of the ship. Yet they still had control of it after/during the crash. This was a domestic terrorist attack they just don’t want to say it to keep the peace.

The problem is (as I understand it) black boxes on ships (unlike airplanes) do not have redundant power supplies. I suspect this will change in the future.

@@ProbablyStonedComments Once again, you should remove 'Probably' from your name. A series of decisions were made and a series of events occurred. There is no such thing as an 'Accident'. The proof of incompetency is the damaged ship, the fallen bridge, and dead people. Did you miss the 'electrical problems' before departure part of the story? Did they fix that problem before departure? Is this truly difficult for you to understand?

Everyone saw the lights go out captain obvious, clearly there was a problem. A problem a crew of people surly thought was solved. Accidents happen all the time professor.
