You can't tell a Big Muff is on or off without the LED? Hmmm..... if you can't tell, then you need to have your ears checked. Back in the day, all pedals did not have LED lights and great music were created with those pedals. Those pedals are highly sought after now... kiddo!!

The old one is better as always used to be.

To me the original sounds so much better. A much more integrated sound without sounding “forced”

Great comparision. Very different to the newer NYC reissue. More crunchy / mid heavy kind of fuzz tone especially in the highs. Like the OpAmp style more, nice pedal!

How much older is better, omg!

They sound really close once they both are using the tone circuit. At first the first one's tone circuit was bypass and it sounded waay different, which is understandable. They really are quite close, almost hard to tell the difference. I have an vintage v4 that I love very much. Would like to do this comparison myself.

Thanks a lot for making this video. I've just recently rediscovered Siamese Dream and have fallen in love with the guitar sound on that album. My circa-2010 Big Muff just doesn't quite catch the sound from that album, great to know that there's a reissue of the pedal Corgan used on it. Really appreciate the demo.

I have two originals plus a Deluxe Big Muff which is an op amp BM and compressor, they all sound slightly different but the Deluxe is my favourite.

I wonder if the original op amp is what Bush used. I played some Bush riffs when I first got the new op amp pedal and thought it sounded pretty close. The little bit of Machine Head on the video drove that thought home even more. Great video guys! Thanks for making it.

This left me a bit wishing that the sustain was ever set below 12 o'clock or that the volume knob was touched. The pedal seems really reactive to the knobs but the settings were pretty much sustain 12 o'clock or full, tone 12 o'clock or 15 o'clock. However it was surprisingly hard to find a video with basic big muff pi that's available now and the opamp version so props for that! More realistic buyer's comparison than the vintage pedals.

I didn't think it was that close. The old one has a much bigger bass end.
