That definitely sounds killer! Not sure that I'm ready for an upgrade yet but I'll keep this one in mind for sure since I started using XLR in the past year as well.

Thanks for the review on this. I have an RE20 and think it's great. I was trying to figure out what the switch was for, so thanks for explaining that. Although, personally, I can't tell the difference in bass sound quality regardless of which way it was switched. Also, really appreciate the tip of speaking at an angle to reduce some of the p's, s's, and t's artifacts. About to jump into a major project, so glad I found out about it now rather than after!

I love my RE 20 but your video has convinced me that I probably need a gain booster to go with my Scarlett Solo. How do I decide between the Fethead or Cloudlifter?
@MrSujano
@MrSujano 3 года назад
I've watched a few videos and haven't been able to really "hear" a difference between the two. I think it'll come down to price and form factor. The Fethead is a little cheaper and smaller. The Cloudlifter is a chunky boi.

Will the Zoom P4 be enough as a sound card? Do you have a recommended sound card?

Are you using the mic in a treated or non treated room. I’m building out a small studio and was wondering how the background noise for this mic is in an untreated room

In my opinion, the NT-USB Mini and Yeti sound VERY different. I guess it would depend on the overall sound you are going for. I find the Yeti is a little "warmer" sounding of a Mic where the NT-USB Mini is very mid-forward. If you're going for the "boomy" effect, I'd take a look at the Yeti. If you're going for more of a flat tone, go with the NT-USB Mini. Between the two, I think the NT-USB Mini is a WAY better mic, but at the same time the Blue Yeti is an incredibly popular sound that a lot of people really like. If you're still having difficulty, watch this review here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T5x2mdVYvSE.html

Did I miss something? Your description says "In this video I take a look at the EV RE20 Dynamic XLR Microphone and compare it to a few different popular USB Microphones (Blue Yeti, Blue Snowball ICE and RODE NT-USB MINI)". All I saw you compare it to was the SM7B... Not even one of the ones you said you were going to compare it to.

Are you sure you watched the right video? Haha, I don't own an SM7B. Check out 8:24 for the comparison :)

As a microphone enthusiast myself, I have to say great review! :) Both the SM7B and the RE-20 are amazing choices among dynamic mics. The king might probably be the Sennheiser MD 441 but unfortunately is much more expensive. Bear in mind that dynamic mics are really dependant on the preamp they are connected to to really shine. If you have the chance to try the RE-20 paired with an FMR Audio "Really Nice Preamp" (or something in the same league) you won't need the cloudlifter nor the fethead ;)

You are right. I will put it like this: Nº1: Sennheiser MD 441. Nº2: Electro-Voice RE20. Nº3: Heil PR-40 . Nº4: Shure SM7b. Nº5: Rode Procaster.
