This is a simple and short video showing the difference in process between Electroless Nickel and Silvering to coat Plastics/3D printed parts to make them conductive for further electroplating or as final aesthetic coat
I was looking into this, but the caswell stuff is SO expensive I feel normal electroplating would b easier. Do you know what exact chemicals I could buy generically? Degreaser I got. I'm not sure how / what reducer to get or how to get the nickel solution (is it just the same as the electrolyte you would use in electroplating?) Trying to find how much to use of the different things has been impossible as well.
It's Normal Electroless Nikel so it can be applied to properly cleaned, Steel/Iron, Nickel, Cobalt and their alloys. With the help of Contact plating one can plate over Copper, Gold, Silver by making them come in contact with an iron hanger. It's
I can further help you if you have any questions about the process not shown in the Video. Just ask away. You can also email me with questions at nicamarvin2005@yahoo.com and I have a formula that I purchased from Russia I can share. The video I posted only shows the chemicals from Caswell Plating but if you would like to build your own formula(it's quite complex but doable).
