Wow your lix is one of the rare one where the cord comes right out the top of the hands Grips. This was a huge recall for Electrolux/Aerus as they were know to split and cause quite a shock for the user. Take it to an Aerus dealer and they should still honor the handle replacement. The redesign has the handle and strain relief coming out of the grips just above the lower screw on the grips.
Since you're a carpet guy, you may want to get the triple-brush shampooer-polisher "mate" to your Gensis LX 1685 or Genesis LXe 1717: The Floor Pro, model # 1522 would have been sold concurrently with the 1685, and the Floor Pro, model 1732 was sold at the time of the 1717.
Congrats on getting an Electrolux L-nozzle upright. There were actually three successive cleaners with the 'Genesis' model name: "Genesis", model # 1572F, made in 1990 with a 9.5A motor sans headlight; "Genesis LX", model # 1685, made in 1991 w/a 9.5A motor & headlight ('LX' is an abbreviation for 'Lux', the international unit of illumination), and "Genesis LXe",, model # 1717, made in 1992, the 'e' stands for 'extra' due to its 10A motor, w/headlight. Yours is one of the last two (look at the silver crown graphic & check the specifications on the top of the brush roll cover when the handle is released). Here's a short list to ensure its peak performance: 1) change the bag at 1/2 to 3/4 capacity (using the red indicator on the bag compartment cover 2) ensure that the black air duct on the nozzle is in good shape and secure 3) ensure that the brush roll is free of debris and the bristles are relatively firm and straight or replace 4) ensure that the hose port flap is completely sealed when not in use 5) if equipped with a pre-motor filter at the bottom of the bag compartment ensure that it is regularly checked and cleaned
@@benreed3890 I know that Electrolux Corporation & Proteam, Inc. had a business partnership at one point that involved combining designs and rebranding. So I would imagine there is little, if any difference; except that the 1500 may use HEPA filtration (not sure). Controls, handle, and onboard features may be different, too. Performance would be comparable.
It doesn't appear to be an issue with your cleaner, but greasing the detent springs on the nozzle (that latch the handle assembly) eases the movement and subdues it.
Good eye. ProTeam, Inc. & Electrolux Corporation did, in fact, partner in manufacturing from c. 2000 to 2013; although each used unique color combinations, model names, model numbers, and tweaked the main design with unique features.
Additional info: The colors for each of the Genesis cleaners along with others concurrently manufactured by the company from 1988 to 1995 are light sand gray & regatta blue. Electrolux Corporation, the manufacturer, changed its name to Aerus LLC in 2002; a couple years after selling the Electrolux trademark and brand back to its original parent company, AB Electrolux of Sweden. It then became the U.S. affiliate of Lux International of Switzerland and most manufacturing was outsourced. Aerus continues selling its 1980s-designed surface cleaners along with the 6-year-old Swiss-made Lux Guardian Platinum tank vacuum cleaner. Here is a generic upright users guide from Aerus's website, which was used when the Genesis LX was manufactured: www.aerushome.com/Warranty/Manual?category=Surface&manual=GenesisLX.pdf
