Electronic To-Do List using Hall Effect Sensors - The Learning Circuit

Hall effect sensors are non-mechanical switches that respond to the presence of an electrical field. Certain hall effect sensors are unipolar, meaning they will turn on in the presence of a magnet and will turn off when the magnetic field is removed. These also often only respond to one pole of a magnetic field. In this project, Karen uses this helpful characteristic of hall effect sensors to build an electronic To-Do List with chores that turn red when exposed to one side of a magnet, and green when exposed to the other side: bit.ly/3arDI5v

Hi, nice one , I use a hall effect on my train's , one on the track magnet on the train to control the stop -go lights , All the Best Brian 🤗

I'm in love and no wedding ring. Proximity sensors are a major component of any processing line.

magnajuice.. love it! I am gonna have to use that term myself... Thanks for showing my the hall affect trinket and how it works..

I see a switch panel for extreme enviromental and/or hazardous locations. If waterproofed it could even be used underwater. Thanks.

could cut down on amount of sensors, make the hole rectangles, and the magnet on its side + glued on to pin, only 1 way to insert the magnet, also why 2 leds per task, could be 1 dual color led or just green when finished. velcro only allows to use 1 side of label, magnet can be embedded, so it sticks front and back of label to board. hooks are dangerous, sleeve/jewelry could catch, but basic idea is fun and educational. board could be a door, hiding unused labels.

Suggestion: Replace the 'chore strips' with a color monitor attached to a Raspberry Pi where you have a process, called for instance, 'Task', running, that displays these tasks, maybe with the background color set based on whether it needs to be done. This really works well with a grocery list, where 'GroceryList' is able to display the food items in order, frequency of purchase, cost, etc.

I hope the doubled number of Hall effect sensors are cheaper than the cheapest microcontroller on the market, because you can halve them by using code.

I am definitely going to start calling it magnajuice. Is that measured in Tesla or Gauss?

I see a design flaw. Typical LED has only about 15000h lifespan. The red ones will be long dead before any green one could ever be turned on...

lol yes procrastination is a design flaw. try hooking some guilt up to an amplifier and feeding that in.

if I want to make a magnetic strength measuring device above 1 Tesla, can you suggest what type of hall effect, which many in the market are easy to find
