Hi Harichandana, one of the main difference between passive type and active type transducers is the ability of the transducer to showcase the readings it is acquiring. Although strain gauge is not using external supply, it is still a passive type transducer because it needs an external connection for the readings to be measured. Hope this cleared your doubt!
