Always when go to turn on supply: 1. Turn voltage to 0 (fully anti-clockwise) 2. Push "On" button. *Always*. Another great video Bob!

Good Dave! You are right. It can happen that it takes some milliseconds to regulate or to get stable. Also for chargers in phones, tablets and computers, power supplies, we must connect them to to the 120V or 220V outlet, first before to plug them to the equipment. Good point! (By the way, I am working in your questions too).

Yes. Most manufacturers will tell you that output is "not guaranteed" during transition from off to on. Questions? What question? (c;

Hi there. I just bought this unit and am trying "to know my power supply." I'm brand new at this... I need to generate only 15 to 20 milliamps. Could you please tell me if this low setting is even possible on this unit? The operating instructions are really bad. I do not have the unit hooked up to anything except the 120V wall power plug. The fan is not turning on, and the unit is generating a volt, but not a current reading. I really appreciate you taking time to do this video. I've got a big learning curve ahead of me and your answer would clear up my confusion. Thanks!

Great! :*) Wish there were more vids like this coz I'm a beginner and want to buy a (one of those cheap Chinese) 0-30V, 0-5A (linear) benchtop power supply. Anyone know of vids, links, etc. about using a linear PSU?

Buy two! At the end, you will need two units. Later with time, buy better capacitor, transistors and add some extra 01uF capacitors and diodes to improve it.

+Bob. Kalpon Hey! THX, Bob. :*) Don't know why, but earlier this morning I was wondering if I should buy two (2) PSUs? And now I've your opinion. Pretty cool, huh? :*) I'm thinking linear, whereas you've gone with switching. Hmm...

Switching gives you power for low cost. Linear gives you less noise for testing and experiments. In some of my videos, you can see I have two linear variable power supply and 2 universal switching from 12 to 24V laptop power supply. ;-)
