A Japanese-style gift wrapping inspired by the traditional kimono, with a classical Japanese motif - the Sakura. An elegant and unique wrapping for shallow boxes, like chocolate boxes, books, cosmetic boxes etc.
Note:
This tutorial is for the shallow box. The distance between the large and small triangles in the front package is the depth of your box, so I recommend selecting a box with at least 1" or 2cm for the best presentation. Deep boxes are not suitable for this design.

Ok, I tried this now 4 times in a row with different sized presents and it's not working at all :/ I think something with the width is extremely off here. 3 times it was way too much paper left + right so I couldn't fold them together properly and the last time when I made it shorter, the outer edges didn't even touch the front of my present. Is this gift wrapping method only usable on a specific-sized box? I'm usually good at learning tuturials, but this is quite confusing ._.

This is beautiful, but it can only be done to small, thin boxes. I tried to do it to a shoebox and I was left with a sad, crumpled mess.

I am so amazed 😭 it's aesthetic and therapeutic seeing this and thank you for sharing with us. I'm a terrible wrapper but now I think I'll be a tad bit better thanks to your insightful tutorials. For one I never put gifts in boxes lol 😂 some come square and others don't but now I see the importance of it. I'm so grateful for you sharing what kinds of paper you use since I'm doing a secret Santa event I want to be extra creative.

I just tried this package wrap and I was not able to complete it. the ends of the paper were so long I was not able to fold them into the triangles.....what did I do wrong?

You didn't do anything wrong. This is just a bullshit tutorial video, in that it will only work on a package of a very specific size. Anything else than that, and you've just wasted a bunch of expensive material. This person has no business making tutorials. Not only is it terrible, but she also knowingly ignores all the comments about it not working -- but the comments that can benefit her, like the ones asking about her store or mailing list? Oh yes, THOSE she replies to! She's nothing but a greedy hack.

You have to follow the size. (6x the depth + the width of the box) by (2x the depth + 2x the length of the box). It has to be exact.

@@maberu0930 I dont think you can do that for every type of box. I just tried with a very wide one, and the paper was to long to make triangels - i tried shortening it, but now that I can make triangles, i cant wrap the second piece up ^^'

Beautiful but your measurements didn't work for me. The sides were too long and I couldn't fold the triangles due to too much material.

This will most likely work with a book or DVD Set. Don't try to wrap a cube with this. Should be obvious tho, since the measurements wouldn't make sense. I had to learn it the hard way..

Starting from the far left edge of the paper, count 6 times the width of the box. I had to crop the video a little so the first measurement doesn't show in the video, sorry!

I think she mention this at the begining of the video: 0:06 Visual explanation of the dimensions the paper must have in relation to the box you want to wrap 0:07 Width: 6x the depth of your box + the width of your box 0:19 Height: enough to wrap around your box + tape margin

This is so so cute! I tried making this the entire day today. Can you please explain on how you make the side wings and deal with the excess paper? I make one half of triangle just fine. It’s the other half...it’s pushing against all excess paper from other side. If I fold it ... the triangles get bulky.do you have any tips? Thank you so much for this video!

Ramya, sorry for the late reply! The side flaps are the trickiest part indeed, because of the extra paper. All you need to do is to make sure you fold the excess paper as you create the other half of the triangle. Use your index finger to create space and guide the paper so that it can fold. It's a bit difficult to explain into words, but have a look again at the video from this point here- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tJhh2kkaxY0.html up to 1'32. I briefly show the step there. I hope this helps! Let me know.

Pretty simple, just use a knife. That way you cut the paper instead of tear it.

#paperGuru i tried this style 3 timesbut it didn't turn like urs , my last step (triangle overlap) always short and it doesn't cover the top middle sheet . can u tell me where am making mistake? 😔

I have a feeling that the depth of your box might be too deep for this design. I recommend using a shallow/shirt box for creating this design so that the side triangles can be shown beautifully on the front of the box.

Oh, have you tried adjusting the playback speed on the video? You can do so by clicking on the little cogwheel on the video where you'll find "Settings", then click on "Playback speed" and select 0.5 or 0.25 to slow down the video. I hope this helps, let me know :)
