It's easy if you understand Chinese. Even my UI menu is now in Chinese after upgrading the firmware. When it comes to Elelgoo, if it's not broke, don't fix it or you may break something else.
@@theguyofalltrades Actually you can't. Try the latest firmware 1.5.1b and see what happens. It is set on english but all of the buttons when you print are in chinese.
Thank you so much, I loaded my printer up and it just said update firmware, I'm very new to printing and this is my first machine, I've had no problems up until now and I had no idea what to do until I watched your video.
One thing to note is that you don't have to download whole repository. You just need to click on latest release on the right sidebar and download a zip file. It contains latests firmware both for printer and the touchscreen. Firmwares in "board firmware" and "screen firmware" directories are not the latest ones, I have no idea why didn't they update them.
Thank you for that info, tried clicking the code to zip and it didn’t update the firmware I then saw your post and it worked perfectly by clicking the latest firmware on the right 👍🏻
The manufacturer should have made the card port accessible through the screen body rather than requiring to take it apart for something like this. This just creates a scenario in which the components could get damaged. Hopefully this isn’t a monthly thing that we have to do. I had mine for 5 whole days before it started requiring a firmware update. Thanks for the video, that was helpful in resolving my issue.
I've had mine for a bit now. It's not required at all honestly unless you want any new features they may add to the screen but yeah I agree it's a pain to take apart
Hi! Great video! I have a Neptune 3 pro and lately, I've been having a printer bed issue.. The best way I can describe it is uneven bed adhesion. It only the first layer, but the upper left area of the print bed tends to almost melt onto the plate, becoming semi-transparent. And when you go to remove the completed print, all of it detaches from the bed except the first layer in the upper left area. Its almost like its caked onto the bed.. Any advice on what may be happening? Thanks!
Hi I wondered if you can help at all- I’ve only had my printer a few weeks from my older Cr 10.but on my Neptune 3 it says thermal runaway problem.but I’m not sure how to fix it. Please could you help. 😂I’m subscribed & thumbs up. Thank you so much.
Hey, I have a question. Before I tried to update the firmware, on boot up, the screen was stuck on “update firmware”. Now after I have updated it, the screen is still stuck on “update firmware”. Any suggestions?
what does it actually do to the printer? Make it faster, able to run hotter? just curious. just recieved my pro v3 and going to update. thanks for the video..
My Neptune 3max. Just got it. Buddha print was good. My second print failed now the screen is telling me to update firmware. I did everything in your video but the screen is stuck on update firmware for hours. I don’t know what to do
Is it important to update the screen firmware? I have tried but the damn Allen keys are stupidly tight only managed to get one out The rest are too tight and I can’t get them to budge at all I don’t understand why it doesn’t use a normal screw
Pretty sure it will work without updating the screen. Not 100% but I don’t remember seeing the z layer distance while printing with the original screen firmware. I agree about the Allen’s. They are cheap and small and strip easily. I’ll be replacing with equivalent Phillips machine screws
Hey bro! You're THE BEST! This video saved my printer! Tried to instal klipper-firmware, but stuck. Problem was in the screen update) Do you use klipper on your mashine?
@@theguyofalltrades No, firstly I tried to update only board, according to klipper guide. There was not a word about screen update. And it caused inner conflict in the system, if I understood correctly
@@theguyofalltrades It would not be as interesting as to install klipper by yourself with praying to Mashine-God and summoning scrapcode from hell) Also it's good experience. In the future I planning to do some things for printer and it will need "brain"
Update: It seemed to go well, but now the Print Menu won't pull up the SD card. I hit the print button and nothing happens. I hit the print button without the SD card inserted, and it says to insert sd card and hit continue (it won't continue even after inserting; only lets me cancel). Wondering if I somehow corrupted my SD card in the process.
Did you remove the update files from the sd card afterwards. Something I realized is that it tries to keep updating if you leave the files on the card. You could always reformat the sd card too
Thanks! I had removed the files, but I’ll try reformatting again. It should be the same format for the software and the code (I’m assuming), so I don’t know why it would be upset. Perhaps I somehow messed up the firmware install. First time doing it. Is there a way to continue using the old firmware? Everything was great until now.
Just gives you any new options Elegoo releases. If you follow the link below it will show you what the updates do on elegoos site. github.com/NARUTOfzr/Neptune_3_Pro_Plus_Max/blob/main/Update-log-en.md
I have an issue. I start leveling and when my head touches the bed it stuck there and starts vibrating and making noise like dududududdududu. Kindly provide me a solution.
Sounds like you need to lower the bed and start leveling from scratch. Checkout my leveling video. Also make sure the z axis limit which is the sensor on the tool head is tight. I’ve seen them become loose
Hello, I have the Neptune 3 Max, I wish to know step by step how do I upgrade the printer firmware to Klipper? I have the Big Tree Tech Pad 7 with klipper on it, I already sorted out the internet connection the pad needs for my local network use. But how do I install klipper firmware on the Neptune 3 Max so the Pad 7 can control it by klipper and the local internet too? Since I brought the pad 7 to allow to do klipper on the Neptune 3 Max & my Neptune 3 printers, I missed the new Neptune 4 Max which already has klipper on it. I brought my Neptune 3 Max not thinking Elegoo would in 2 months after I did so, Bring out a klipper version of my printer so quickly? I can't afford the money or spare space to get the Neptune 4 Max, So I need to install klipper on the 3 Max instead. I looked around online and no one shows us how to do klipper on the Neptune 3 or 3 Max? Help be nice thanks. 😉
I’ll have to do some research. Would definitely be nice to print faster with klipper like on the Neptune 4 series. There are some videos on RU-vid about it. Feral Engineer has one on his channel
Hey. Just got the Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro last night. Got the buddha to print without issue. We cannot get any sliced files to show up on the printer screen. We have tried the SD card that came with the machine and a different reformatted SD Card. We tried directly connecting the ethernet cable and can't figure out how to use that method at all. The SD files show on the computer but nothing in the printer itself. Do you have any advice? We have watched a bunch of videos and tried everything we can think of. Thanks for the instructions for updating the firmware. We did the updates just now and are still having the same issue. Since you are so knowledgeable, I thought I would ask to see if you can help.
We have done that multiple times. We just did it again to make sure we did it right before. We are using the Elegoo Cura. Could that be the problem? We really appreciate your help!@@theguyofalltrades
We have been messing with this for about 7 hours. I went ahead and downloaded the normal UltiMaker Cura and selected the Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro and opened a file on there. I sliced it and the only options were save to file and send by USB (Something like that). I thought, why not try to direct send. It is actually printing. I still don't know what we are doing wrong with the SD card but at least it is printing this way at the moment. My 13 year old son is very excited. We would appreciate figuring out the SD card in case we have a power outage etc.
The Elegoo Cura should be good. I always click the arrow next to save to file and change to save to tft to get the model preview to work on the screen. Honestly it doesn’t affect anything not being able to see it although it is nice to have a preview
Not sure if you know this but there is a Character limit for the gcode files that once reached the files won't appear on the printable files list on the touchscreen.
One thing that might help others if they're still struggling to update the firmware is the Elegoo Neptune 3 Plus required that I change the SD card to MBR Disk. I used a free tool called MiniTool Partition Wizard to do so. Steps in this video worked like a charm!
How can i do it on a Mac? Im having issues of being stuck on Software Update when rebooting. Could you please help I followed all the following steps but got stuck on the file format but when I clicked on the info it said it was in Fat32 but I am not sure where to see the allocation size. I did continue all other steps as shown and now my 3D printer is stuck on update firmware please help, thanks.
Not that I know of but you’re not using anything other than metal without clips to the hold the sheet in place. They have a bunch of options if you want aftermarket bed sheets
Dosent work for me on the pro screen updates fine main board just stays on update firmware forever tried multiple firmware versions wainting on Elegoo to give solutions had to try a firmware update as just randomly turned the printer on from working fine day before and just had update firmware on the screen trouble shooting every solution I can find on the internet..also got 3 different branded SD cards coming tomorrow to see if the printer just dosent like the SD card even though works fine in pc and in the UI.
Also make sure you dont leave the sd with firmware on it in the printer after you update. You have to format again otherwise it will act like it wants to boot to firmware update every time. I think the Neptune 4 did away with the sd cards and you can update with a usb or over ethernet now
Yeah it's a 32gb kingston card however I've just watched a video about replacing the main board and he described the exact issues I'm having and apparently Elegoo sent him a replacement board and screen hence he made a video on how to replace the main board I'll see what support says if they ever get back to me and worst case I'll just have to buy a new board. The printer is only 2 months old so looks like quality control is not great if motherboards pack up that quick it's only had about 3kg of filliment go through it.
trying to find a fix for the Z proximity sensor, it just goes up, and stops when I try to home, I've replaced the sensor, and even tried replacing the entire hotend to no avail. Any advice on how to un**** it?
Honestly the newer firmware didn’t change anything from what I could see visually on the touchpad. I’d have to read the release notes which were on the GitHub page I showed in the video. Info is here github.com/NARUTOfzr/Neptune_3_Pro_Plus_Max/blob/main/Update-log-en.md
I’m not sure if there would be a version mismatch from screen to main board. You could try a torx bit to get that screw out. That may grab it enough to allow you to loosen it
I only updated my mainboard, after few months Came here to Find how to update my screen, you can do Everything in thé gcode like you updated but not on thé screen, for example i can print 270C if it's in my gcode but when i lower it on thé screen when printing, to 265C i Cant set it back any higher, so pretty annoying.
bonjour merci pour ta vidéo , malheureusement je ne comprend pas l anglais , je besoin d une précision a la fin quand il faut remettre la carte mémoire dans l imprimante il faut la qu' elle soit avec les mise a jours ? merci pour votre raiponce.
@@theguyofalltrades format just the same in the video and an 8g micro. Ordered new micro cards to see if that's it. If not I think my print is just not reading anything
Well it automatically updates with the sd card inserted after you format and load the firmware to it. I think only the Neptune 4 has WiFi capability to auto update.
how long does it take to start updating because i have left it there for an hour after following all your steps multiple times and its still not working for the min board@@theguyofalltrades
@theguyofalltrades also, my printer somehow works better than it did before. They helped me with bed leveling and understanding it, and my prints are a bit smoother than before
Firmware steps should be the same. You will need to re level as it resets all the mesh leveling points with firmware update. It’s fairly new so you’ll need to check their support page to see if there is a new update. I believe it uses klipper firmware instead of marlin like the Neptune 3
That’s a good question. I don’t think the Neptune 3 can but the 4 has a usb input instead of the sd card. I’ll see if I can find anything out. I mean a beagle cam will bring you wireless print capability plus Timelapse’s
@@theguyofalltrades From what I have seen, the neptune 3 has a slot for a wifi module, but there is no information beyond that. I am just wondering if there is some way to activate it without official support if necessary
@@theguyofalltrades Glad someone worked it out. Why? Just why would a designer put a SD card slot inside a case? I imagine if you open the case you could void the warranty. Could have easily put the SD holder at the top of the case with "for screen firm ware update only".
There may be a way with a raspberry pi. I know the Neptune 4 either comes with WiFi or you can use a usb WiFi adapter. I’m sure there’s a video somewhere about it
@@theguyofalltrades and I'm not sure if I'm on the right site or if elgoo changed their web page I've had this thing since boxing week and I got maybe 5 small print before everything started to fail
@@theguyofalltrades I just installed a new nozzle now so I should be good on that end, however anytime I level this it looks like the nozzle is a bit to far from the bed, am I able to send you a picture through messenger or something to show you? I'm not sure if it's a spacing issue or not
@@PeterAgostiniJdcap26 Your card interface is USB and not a SD because your printer is a Neptune 4 pro, not a Neptune 3 pro. This is a video about the 3 models, not the 4.
ATTENTION. For those who are having problems (they update but it remains the same version): When formatting the memory card, you MUST choose 4096 bytes as the "Allocation unit size" otherwise the printer will not be able to read all the files and the update will fail.
I wonder how to do that on mac, with a default "disk Utility" app we can just select FAT32 and no other options. I didn't have any problems without formatting my SD card, just wonder about that.@@theguyofalltrades
Really just gives you any new features or functions Elegoo adds to the screen or printer. They list what the updates are on each firmware release. I haven’t checked to see if there has been a new one since I made this video
@@theguyofalltradesThank you sir, I do appreciate it. I bought a Neptune 3 pro, 3 max and a 4 pro all around the time the 4 pro came out, and I didn't even realize that Elegoo creates updates for them. That is helpful information, especially since I am a noob at all of this and had not a clue. 🤣🤣🤣
