"I will always remember where I was when the lights went out. Sitting at my computer at 1:00 AM, playing the story mode of the Long Dark nearing the end of summer. I can still taste the irony..."

This was one of the best "Trailers" I have ever seen. Just perfect. 10/10. Tomorrow the Story Modus and next year "The Movie" I would watch. ^^

First game I want to see as a movie

For those who are searching for the music: *Ryan Taubert - Fable* The original one is not as same as in this film.

TLD, to this day, remains a unique masterpiece in the entire survival game genre. It's more than just a game, it's a mental location. Can't wait to get to play the two remaining chapters. Bring it on, baby!

Did anyone else see the original trailer for this years ago? It was made by the same person. The previous one was fantastic, but this just left my mouth agape. It captures the theme of the game so goddamn well it gave me chills. The far darker spin it puts on the game completely changes my perspective of the quiet apocalypse. Truly brilliantly done.

There is no other game that captures the quiet apocalypse better. Waking up in the Mountaineer's Hut, and having my own set of goals to complete every day, be them collecting wood for fire, hunting the local fauna or scavenging the whole of Great Bear Island for goods, whenever or however I can is absolutely wonderful, and with the impactful finality of death looming around the corner, makes every step a careful one. As a Vancouver Islander myself, it's great to have such amazing creators nearby making this adventure for all of us to enjoy. I hope along with the rest of you that we all get a live-action story of this adventure one day, I myself would prefer an 8-part mini-series, to a 2 hour film. Thank You Hinterland

Just recently got into The Long Dark. I've never been much for the survival genre, but maybe that's because I'd never played a game like this before. Seeing this "visual poem" just serves as another reminder of the dedication and vision of the creators. Hinterland has replaced Monolith as my #1 gaming studio. 10/10 stellar work, guys.

Ok I love this game to death, but death isn’t a simple word to describe how much I love the game. This game helped me through times of darkness and sadness, whenever I had a bad day, I would jump on the game and start off where I continued my survival mode game, solving problems to help me survive always kept me occupied from the real world, it helped me, and hints to this movie, I want them to make it right, we, The Long Dark fans, should help as well to creating this film to also match something similar to The Long Dark, heck, maybe even the exact same, I want them to be careful on creating this movie. I didn’t ask for one, but hell now I want one.

I remember using this video as an introduction back in school for my presentation in English class, I talked about this game to my teacher and peers for over 40 minutes and dare I say, they were in awe for the most part.

This is the best trailer I have ever seen in my entire life.

This is great. Nature is graceful and beautiful like a dear, but also is powerful and fierce, its maw threatening us each day, like a wolf. The long dark is a different game. I new it was unique in its own aspects, so I started to play it with a different mindset. This game has single handedly changed the aspects of my life, and my outlook on nature. Great game, story looks great and I would love to see more from you guys in the future.

I periodically come back to this absolute work of art just to revel in the breathtaking composition. I'm not a poetry kind of person, but this gets to me. It breaks my heart that more people haven't seen it. The only thing I don't love to death about this is that it's not seven seconds longer to allow the music to fade slowly into the silence in the end.

Thank you for this...Your voice, this poem...truly a gift. So many times I have listened to this over and over again. Always it has given me a great sense of calm. A great sense of Peace. Rest in Peace brother. Know that your voice is a constant guiding beacon in the Long Dark...

Now that Covid is getting out of hand this is hitting too hard

Repeating what a bunch of you are saying but this moves into the category of top live action trailers. Captures the feel of the game perfectly but isn't just dumb action or anything, it's just beautiful imagery and tragedy

Yo hinterland. I know you probably won't read this, but I just wanted to thank you guys for putting a lot of time and effort into this game. I have this on ps4 and I am constantly seeing patches and updates, so thank you for making this game as best as you possibly can. Keep up the good work.

Everytime I wanna quit after losing a save i just watch and I am reminded of this game is supposed to be realistic and you can feel yourself in the shoes of every character you play as, 😢

I'm watching this video while sitting next to a window. There is a snow storm outside and I have two candles on the edge of my old wooden desk far from my computer screen. The road is buried under ice and about 15cm of snow but a few vehicles are still slowly going down the street. The lamp outside my door is covered in frost from the freezing rain earlier in the day. Because of the game and inrl environment, it makes me feel like I am really in the game. Now I'm in the mood for some outdoor exploring inrl. I don't want to go outside to shovel snow but I have to. It's in my blood as a rural Canadian.

Best video I have ever seen. God bless you and your work. The limits are endless, please do not stop. This game is timeless and the updates and content should also be timeless.

So beautiful and well made. High quality overview of the vast snowey landscape with thousands of trees. Must have required a good highend drone for that. So many good details with eg. tiny fire sparks from the bonfire, tiny model of the Lighthouse of the one on Desolation Point, the fishing boat (from Bleak Inlet). And paid attention to detail with dust on the shelf, when can of peaches are being picked up and scavenged. The tense background music. And ofcause the good and deep narator voice of Christopher Plummer. His deep and kind of hoarse voice fits perfect. May he rest in Peace. Very good good Hinterland for a very good game. Imagine a hypothetical TLD2 with realistic graphics. Don't get me wrong, I like the stylized graphics of TLD, but imagine playing in a world like the one shown here...

the shot between the trucks... the shot of the foot... the man in the storm.. the snow bridge..the axe in the stump.. the flare.. the fire.. every shot is so beautiful it reminds me of being in the game and observing. my favourite shot of all is of the canadian flag

Dude, this trailer made me lose my breath, simply AMAZING, you should turn this into a movie, congratulations hinterland, you guys reached a point I'd never imagine you would

This is the only survival game that made me scared than any horror game. Nothing is worse than being stuck in a white out Blizzard with barely any supplies and slowly freezing while you hear growling nearby.

I love how each survivor we see is not just different looking but also in a drastically different situation representing each of our (the players) playthroughs. Very cool trailer!

well i have no words, it felt like these 5.30 mins were told to me by some old man at a fire somewhere in the canadian wilderness. I just sat here in my chair infront of the screen and wannished for 5.30 min into another dimension.

If you are here, you will probably know what the cold is, feel what it is to be totally lost and not knowing where to get, beg leaves of the ground, branches and plants to try to live another day. Surviving in the most coarse and aggressive world that you have ever felt, you are inside, it is not a game, you live tormented, depressed, far from reality, you have difficulty discerning between realism or shelter with fireplace to cook ... Unless you have survived Long Dark, you dont understand this.

I have chills... I've been playing this game for just over 2 years now and have loved seeing it grow, develop and deepen from a fun sandbox to a truly emotional experience. This video really encapsulates what you feel playing; the isolation, the fear, the terrible beauty of the wilderness, and it was amazing seeing it bought to life in such an evocative way. So truly well done and thank you to everyone at Hinterland Studios, I cannot wait to see where The Long Dark goes from here.

Yo Hinterland Studios Headquarters, I just wanted to tell ALL the people working on this game that you're fucking LEGENDS. The only studio that I can solely say is the best at giving the people what they want. Been working on this game for years and still make new updates, trailers, movie-trailers, etc. I love all you guys man, and I'm going to be a proud fucking dude tomorrow when I get to play The Long Dark on PS4. Now just make some t-shirts and zip up hoodies for the winter, and I'll love you more than I already do.

The Long Dark is one fucking underrated game... IMO it's right on par with Minecraft, although different, it deserves the same amount of fame

I have so much respect and hope for the Hinterland team, even though they've been getting some criticism as of late, I could never have the courage to do what they have done, and to do it so well too!

This was gorgeous. But I do wonder, are we going to get candles?

The intention to detail really makes it feel like the game

I'm addicted to this game. I have a few wishes: 1. Candles (every home has candles. Especially in winter, at least because of christmas). Funktions: easier to light up (safes Firesticks by lighten up a Fireplace, when it failes) spending light, struggles while it's windy or snowing, more candles = room warms up. Maybe you can find a gas firelighter somewhere near too? 2. Tidy homes/Build mode (why looks every home so destoryed and messy inside? And: Can there be a funktion where I can tidy up a home? My inner OCD needs that desperately, even in survival situations. At least when I spend days or weeks in a certain shelter. Like a build mode, to repair stuff, bring it in place, close open windows and doors with textiles or something else, ...) 3. Growing and watering plants in plant potts inside the houses (Maybe he'll find some packed seeds in some houses or in a farm? Or in fresh or rotten vegetables?) 4. Realisticly basic stuff in every home (every kitchen should have at least a knife, a spoon, a pot, a bottle and something to eat. Maybe there is more food like flour, vegetables and noodles? Every wardrobe should have at least have one peace of clothing, even if its unecessary, so you can harvest material. At least in villages and "normal" houses). 5. Tansportation (Maybe someone left a broken bicycle somewhere? Or even better: A bicycle with a basket for stuff? Or maybe I can use a wheelbarrow to move big, heavy stuff a little easier to one place or another, at a straigt distance? If my stuff gets to heavy to climb somewhere down, maybe I can thow some stuff down, that doesn't break so easy, like clothings and my sleeping bag?) 6. Survive/thrive cooking skills (I can make my own clothes out of fur. Why can't I cook a soup of hunted meat for example, by myself? And: I would like to hunt some birds. And why does it take two bears to make a coat for one little human? And: Why can't I make a hole in the ice with my axe for fishing? What if he is dirty? Can he wash his hands or his body somehow? Because wild animals can smell the humans sweat I think... And when he is almost starving, why can't he just eat eadible things in his bag like rose-hips?) 7. SEASONS (my biggest wish: After 100 days of deep winter there is a chance, that the earth warms up a bit and the snow melts at least for a few days. It'll be a new challenge, since the player can't melt snow for water anymore and needs to find other recurces to get some water. He gets easyly wet, when it's raining. Maybe he can collect rainwater. New mushrooms, sproudlenghts, a few other animals and birdnests with eggs can appear.) 8. Other players (Even if it will never be a multiplayer. But maybe somebody can join us, so we're not alone anymore. We can help each other, need to take care for each other, can do tasks for each other, ...) 9. And please: Do not make the storymode any harder. I barely could manage the last one. Way too many wolfes. QUESTION: Is it possible to domesticate a wolf by feeding him for a few days, then gently start to tame it, so he can help to defent me in critical situations and help me hunting? Tanks for reading! Just.. wow! I love how the scenes remind so much of the game. The stairs, the overthrown chair, the broken computer, a place in the game showed up in my mind everytime!
