Hello, this is very cool. FYI, if you play into the Syntakt on the lowest octave (C-2, midi notes 0 - 11) on the global midi channel, then Syntakt will respond with the default trigger note on each track. So note 0 is track 1, note 1 is track 2, etc. up to note 11 being track 12. That might make it more performable for you with this setup. Hope that helps!
Wow, thank you so much for this information. I did not know, despite researching this topic a couple of times. Still, it's quite a commitment to change the midi notes on all Nord Drum channels any time you want to change the midi set-up 😅
Amazing dude.. i have the digitakt and didnt knew i coule trigger the sounds on the nord.. also i dont know how to record The Nord Sounds into the digitakt, as to play a loop and recorded, ... In You video you rercord the syntakt sounds with the Nord, but do you know how o r cord the nord sounds to the elektron device?.. It will be awesome to lesrn more about boost it all up with ableton. Thank you!!
I think you could assign not a global channel but a seperate midi channel for every pad on the nord drum. This would enable you to do the stuff you wanted to do with ableton or am i wrong?
Unfortunately that’s the problem: the Nord Drum can only send out midi on one global channel… not possible to assign individual channels per pad, it only works for receiving midi.
Another thing that would be worth exploring further in this ND2, Syntakt set-up, in my view, is the use of velocity modulation on the Syntakt to create/trigger more dynamic and expressive drum synth sound. Just a thought! ;)
@@ukbloke28 Very cool, I did not know that the Nord Drum has velocity mod!? That’s good to know. How many parameters can be assigned to vel mod on the ND2 or 3?
@@jeandoyon7532 they are unbelievable when it come to velocity. Im not sure what the parameter limit is - check the manual - .but it's definitely possible to make super expressive, physical sounds - everything from convincing acoustic snare simulations to bizarre sci fi pads. amazing at anything metallic like bells, chimes, all sorts of percussion from round the world ... but they are not at all limited to just drums.
Awesome! Thanks for you generous response; it’s much appreciated. 😁 I love the sound of the ND2/3. I have a sample pack from Goldbaby with a tone of samples from the ND2 and it sounds amazing; my favourite drum synth in terms of sound design. It’s so cool that it can produce realistic and expressive acoustic-like drum and perc sounds (and so much more). Sound wise, it’s probably the best sounding drum synth I ever heard (along with the Analog Rythm). The NDs are out of my budget range at the moment, but maybe someday (now that I know that it does have velocity mod). Thanks again for the info and keep on playing with fun sounds! 😁🤟😎🥁
Hi yannis , thanks again for a nice Video . Im quite new to the Nord drum 3 p and got the syntakt alteady . What do i have to do to Play the syntakt Tracks with Nord Pads ? For example Track 1-6 on syntakt per Midi Track Settings . Do have to take the global Channel on Nord drum 3 p ore midi track 1-6 on nordrum . MIDI Settings are not so easy for me . I love your Sounds on the Nord drum which i bought . Thanks
Hey, thank you, really glad you enjoy the sounds! For playing the different channels on the Syntakt, you need to change the global midi channel on the Nord Drum. CH1 triggers CH1 on Syntakt, CH2 triggers CH2 and so on... alternatively, CH14 lets you control whatever track is selected on the Syntakt. Thanks to a a comment from another user I also learned, that tuning the ND pads to the lowest individual values (1-12) allows you to control the corresponding track on the Syntakt, so you are not limited to one track only and can play kits with up to 6 different sounds. Hope it helps :)
