This deck is artistically stunning, and I love the font used, but I am greatly disappointed by the lack of diversity outside of a few cards in the Wands suit and the misspelling of "high" in High Priestess. Such a letdown. Hopefully there will be a second edition with more ethnic diversity shown, especially in the Major Arcana.
I agree, beautiful deck, but I think the wands cards are my favorite. They’re so diverse, and I love that in a deck. I’m not a fan of mermaids, so I won’t be getting this deck now that I know the cups revolve around mermaids.
Edit to add: (Im not saying that you are only asking for only black representation, I just meant this as a general statement from other comments I have seen in the community, hope that makes sense). I'm mixed race and although I get your point, this also frustrates me. The point of tarot isn't to see yourself in the image, the images are meant to be symbolism. I am also frustrated that I mainly only see people who are African American/black saying they want more diversity and praising decks that depict both black and white people while ignoring that that literally isn't diversity. There are Native American people, Hispanic people, Middle Eastern people, Asian people that hardly ever get love in these decks. There are whole decks that depict black people and nothing else, many mass market and indie decks show mainly white and black people in their cards. If we are going to say more diversity then it should also include, at the very least, all the ethnicities and races mentioned above. I'm not saying that this was your intention by your comment by the way, I've just seen these comments a lot made by the black community and then they praise decks that only depict black and white people and don't seem to care when none of the other races/ethnicities are shown love......I am saying this as a mixed race woman. The other person who commented under your comment literally proves me point, they said " the wand cards are my favorite, they are so diverse.".....the wands depict only white and black people and one racial ambiguous person.....
