Thank you for remembering Shushu. May the Lord Jesus receive her into heaven and give her rest and peace. She had a very difficult life and I am glad you remembered her and gave her such a beautiful tribute.
After she won in the Olympics the coaches wanted her to go immediately into the gym to show the other girls what it was like to train hard, Shushu left on vacation and the Soviet authorities refused to give her the several thousand dollars promised to gold medalists in the Olympics. She was in an automobile accident and I believe was divorced after a short marriage. She became an alcoholic and said she did not want anyone to see what she looked like but Elena Davydova tried to encourage her and there is a touching photo of Davydova hugging Shushu who looked ill.
@@Linda-iw7bk where did you get all this from? I remenber reading interviews to her, after the Olympics she just retired, married a car mechanic and was a member of the Russian gymnastics federation
