Matt Rousu and Chantelle Ridley discuss the elephant rescue of Dao Thong and her progress at Elephant Nature Park with Save Elephant Foundation founder Sangduen 'Lek' Chailert
I'm so sick of people's ignorance and self interest. There should be an uproar about elephant abuse! Call your congressmen, senators. We need legislation to prevent elephants from being enslaved and people to enforce the laws. Feeling bad for them doesn't help them.
@@May5359 You do realise that this is very much happening in the United States in the Circuses that still are not banned in US despite being banned everywhere else in the World. The Bailey Brothers & Ringlin Brothers are some of the worst Elephant abusers in the World & should be in Prison but aren't. America is stuck in the dark ages when it comes to Animal Welfare in a very big way
I find it interesting that elephants seem to know where not to step when people are around them and even crawling around the ground beneath them. Just amazing!
I love ENP! I wish I could fund everything you not only NEED but I wish I could fund everything you also WANT! May you all not know lack, never go hungry, and that the pains of the past cease its hold over you! God Bless You!
Thank you for this video. I was volunteering at the park when Dao Thong first arrived and was truly inspired by Matt and Chantelle's commitment to help her. Such a virtuous and compassionate pair!
We all must help Lek SAVE ELEPHANTS. W also must get laws against the abuser so that they ca go to prison or worse!! YAH bless you dear elephants and Lek &crew😍
I remember reading a quote somewhere, cant remember who said it but it goes something like "you're not gonna change the world by helping one animal but you change the world for that animal" so I'm sure thet elephant will thank the couple forever for rescuing her. Thank you guys how I wish I could do what you guys did.
Lek shares herself with so many people as well as the Elephants and the other orphans at ENP. Whatever dream she had to help has become a wonderful...... I can't think of the word! I'm sure you understand. 🐘🐘🐘🤗🤗🤗

So nice to know people work to restore the balance Humans cause their distress now humans can care and love those that were harmed in the service of humans
So distressing to see these abused elephants with serious muscular-skeletal injuries, abcesses and poor body condition. Blessings to you, Lek, for saving so many.
When I hear the word '' owner '' my blood already starts to boil. When you own something that something becomes a '' thing '' and you can do with a '' thing '' as you please. That is why we don't say the owner of your children. Why then do people use the word '' owner '' for other sentient beings. No one can own another sentient being. Why are people still use that word ''owner'' . Don't people understand that the word carries negative consequences? It turns creatures into Property and you can do with property as you like? Why do people not understand that?
Ya but truth is without private owners asian ele will go extinct not enough land to support healthy ele populations it's so much more complicated than india or Africa but not to say there can't be ethical treatment
@@roybarron5289 Captivity is not conservation, keeping wild animals in the Wild is conservation. Captivity doesn't work for elephants, bulls Hope and Jungle Boy make that clear. We haven't seen any recent video of either of them in multiple years, and Hope's elephant database page makes things clear. The url for that, and for other realities, is posted in my ENP Babes playlist description.
@@roybarron5289 Incorrect. Did you read the video description? ENP is in Thailand: that's in SE Asia. Regardless of what continent you personally choose to talk about, captivity is not conservation, it's captivity. Captivity does Not work for elephants, it does Not allow them the freedom to fulfull their life-purpose and they *require that. By their very nature, they are a *freedom species, and they *cannot thrive without it. They need to live *fully volitional lives, making their own choices, living in Nature with total freedom, with no directives or interference from man. When there is interference, that is where problems are revealed, from their feet being damaged and neglected to being fed a poor diet to being told where to go, to being limited in their need to migrate, to procreation other than by choice with opportunity, raising their families the elephant-way. Man needs to butt out. The fact that ENP elephants have killed their mahouts and are no longer shown in recent videos for years makes that plain if any one would simply care to learn. Captivity is Not "life" for an elephant, regardless of the continent. A true sanctuary does Not interfere with them in their protected lands. Captivity does Not allow the elephant to have what he or she needs. It is man's 1. selfish excuse or 2. poor substitute for what does Not meet his or her needs. They are Not to be commodities, yet they are treated as such, in spite of videos that hide that reality. Investigate!
Why dont u guys come together with groups from india and the other countries and lobby heavily for all governments to outlaw owning elephants and using them for begging logging and to stop the tourist attractions??? Appeal to first world nations for help in getting this passed!!!! Together you are stronger!!! The real problem is with your lawmakers and leaders!!! Make them take action to free these elephants!!!
I'm so amazed and grateful for the rescue work they do for such beautiful creatures as the elephants. I wish there was someway that I could join them in their work. I have time but sadly no money to contribute. Blessings on this important work!
Elephants are the perfect race. The Earth would survive if humans were the same as elephants. They have all the empathy that humans lack. We just need animals & activists & people like these on this Earth. Many humans are beyond redemption & soulless to be cruel to other animals & oblivious to their suffering or worse to revel in it.
They are such exceptional creatures, I feel that the people who hurt them and torture them are not human beings, they work for the dark side, I have a strong resentment and disgust for this type of behavior, even praying I have a hard time with 😡😢💔 thank you Lek and everyone that have made ENP possible. God bless you for all that you do🙏👍💓👏🙋
Its unfortunate families in that part of the world has no inner heart that elephants are just like humans. Elephants are used and abused! Unbelievable behavior inflicted on elephants! Why? Omg....very sad these people are more into something that's not intune with life....
Is that why Navann's trunk has suffered damage in recent years? The url of that video where it can be seen, is posted in my ENP Babes playlist description.
Somebody please tell me I don't understand. Elephant s are vegetarians so why would they have to beg for food on the street I'm not trying to be funny but some places all you see is vegetation but thank you so much for caring for these babies
Their owners use them on the street to "beg," meaning that they "sell" fruit (bananas, pineapple) "to" tourists, which is then fed to the elephant, the owner keeping the proceeds to "make a living." This is how they feed the elephant and how they make money for themselves. It is essentially a form of begging.
Should never ever break up elephant families for your personal gain or money. Elephants have feelings too. Just can't verbalize them. They are at your mercy. Please don't abuse them physically or mentally. Love them, treat them with affection and kindness.
